First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Thanks for the excitement! I'm still reeling from the news. It's suddenly all very real.

We had our NT scan today. Everything looked good (I think?). Our tech was weird though. She didn't say a word. I just read all the measurements over her shoulder. Everything we asked about she just gave one word answer "yeah" Hubby was excited to get to see our little one moving around!

Pri: Did your sono tech give you results same day? I felt like tech didn't give us any info and was just going to let doc give results later? When I asked if things looked fine, though, she said "yeah". It was weird. I saw her do NT measurements and they were all under 2 so I figured we were fine.

I was measuring ahead again at 13weeks (also read that on screen, tech said nothing). Kind of wondering if we keep measuring ahead because my hubby is pretty tall? Just curious.

I finally let myself buy some things today. I finally bought a body pillow and to celebrate the scan I let myself get a newborn onesie that just says "free hugs"

AnnieMac: We did a marternit21 DNA test which they recommend to women 35 and over and it checks for chromosomal abnormalities using placental DNA that is in the mother's bloodstream. It is also able to check for Y chromosome so it can give gender at about 97% accuracy.

What a cute pic, Panda!!!!
Lovely!!!!! It came out sooo clear! Mines were a little dark.

Yayyy for the shopping!!

The lady that did my sonogram was extremely hyper and happy, she sounded more excited than hubby and I together! haha
So she talked to us non-stop about everything that she was seeing and would show us everything she was seeing.
As far as results, she didnt give us anything per say, but she went through the nose bone a couple of times and each time she would say the bone was there and all was looking good. Same thing for the back of the head. I forgot the name of the thing....
she told us the measurements, but since she talked too much (not complaining), I don't remember any :dohh:

The blood work I did after the u/s, I still don't have the results. Meaning, when I went to my obgyn they haven't received it yet, and since nobody called me, let's just assume all is normal.

I go back for the second blood work for the NT on Sept 3 and u/s on Sept 17.

next obgyn appt is Sept 1st.

But try not to worry and enjoy the moment with your hubby!!!

Panda- Awwww!!! What an awesome pic. I am sorry the tech was kind of quiet, maybe its a rule that the doctor goes over results?

It will be interesting to see how long baby is the further along you get, could surely have some of your hubby's tall genes. :)

Enjoy your pillow!! They are the best things everr!!

Pri- Thats funny about your tech. Its an exciting thing to watch!

AFM- I had my first appt. with the OBGYN yesterday. I am not a fan of the office they sent me to, but it was just a one time thing so I am ok with it. The first part was all about health history and whatnot. She talked a little about the hospital, which sounds great! The second part was a pelvic exam and we listened to the heartbeat. It really eased some of my nerves.

I found out that my insurance covers a first trimester screening. They do a u/s along with a lot of blood work to check for things like down syndrome. She said that I am not in the bracket, but if insurance covers it then to go for it. I can't wait to see how much the baby has grown! :)

Thanks for the info, Pri. Sounds like you had a fun person! I go to a different place for my anatomy scan next month so hopefully we get someone a little more personable.

Jules - Congrats on your first Obgyn appt and hearing the heartbeat! Always so reassuring :) I wonder if your insurance will include the blood test I did that tells gender. It took about 2 weeks to get the results.

omg the body pillow is the best. If I could just get my cat to stop trying to steal it from me . . .

Panda: too funny your cat wants your pillow!

Which body pillow you got? I think I want one, but dont know which one to buy.

Yesterday I bought some leggings and maternity pants. Dont really need it right now, but they were on sale, so I figured, why not?

my tech was awesome, the place I went to is pretty much Hispanic people and I asked for one who speaks English. Hopefully she is the only one, and she will be doing my u/s all the time :) :) :)

Jules: congrats on the 1st appt with obgyn! It is good to move up! Hopefully you like the other place better!

AFM: My ms came back and I'm getting nausea and gagging to brush my teeth again! this is horrible :dohh:

we finally got the doppler yesterday and decided to try and we could find the hb very quick. It was around 163.

Pri, I just went to Bed Bath and Beyond and they only had one body pillow that happened to just be $20 which sounded cheap so I bought it, but it works fine. It's not fancy just an extra long pillow. The covers for it cost $14 so it was $34 total. I've seen special ones on amazon that are longer or curve around, but so far this one def helps me.

Sorry about your ms, mine was gone for a couple days then back for a week and soooo bad I had a REALLY hard time eating. Today all of the sudden it was just a bit of mild this morning and then the rest of the day has been GREAT! I think that we are getting into the 2nd trimester so hopefully these last bad days of ms are just the final bit of hormone fluctuations as placenta takes over. Fingers crossed!

Adorable scan, Panda! And thanks for the info. I would feel uncomfortable and irritated with a tech like yours.

I'm weirdly excited that someone has started shopping! After my NT in a week-ish, maybe I'll join the club.

Congratulations, Jules!

So glad to hear everything is going well for you ladies! Sorry I haven't been as active; I did 10-hour workdays last week teaching two band camps back to back. I held up surprisingly well. Our bodies are amazing things!

I am 15 weeks now! I got my NT results back, and they were normal, so that's good. :) I've also been doing some shopping, but I've been finding a lot of things I like or need, used. My MIL gave me some flannel baby blankets and a Boppy with cover, I got a crib bedding set off eBay, and some clothes from local rummage sales. I know I will have to wash it again before baby arrives, but I put everything through an initial wash last night so I can pack it all away. My favorite thing so far is one of the blankets from the crib bedding set, and DH's favorite is the Green Bay Packers winter hat we found at a rummage- too big for a newborn but will definitely get its use! Photos of our favorites attached. :)

Hi Duster!
We missed you :)

Glad all is alright and you "survived" your workday last week :)
What a cute blanket you have in there!

Yes, I am leaning towards buying some used things too.
Actually a friend is selling me her son's stroller with car seat and a baby swing for half of what she paid! So I'm happy about that! But I havent bought anything yet, wanted to go on Sunday but I fell sleep coming back from church and all I wanted was my bed at that point!

Panda,
how is your boy doing??? :blue:

Anyone else finding out soon? For me it seems forever and ever for September to get here haha

AFM: still with MS. it is so strange that I started with MS on week 11 only.. but it is kind of persistent.. brushing my teeth is not fun anymore...
I dont remember if I mentioned here, but I did get a doppler. It arrived last week and we could listen to the heartbeat so clear! It was fun!
Doing it again tonight :)

Duster, so glad to hear from you and to see the fun shopping pics! Such cute stuff! Also so glad NT scan results were great.

Pri, I think my little guy is okay. I had rough 2 days and even though daytime ms was better was very sick at night and waking up dehydrated. I feel so much better today. Looking forward to exercise with trainer tomorrow because I think it will help me feel stronger. I really hope this ms is going away for us soon!

I'm also waiting to see what I will get as hand-me-downs. Sister-in-law has nice strollers and such but her younger son is still only 1 year-old so I don't know what she will be able to give us and what we'll need to buy. I have a sister with 2 boys and sister-in-law with 2 boys so I feel like we'll get lots of clothing hand me downs.

I started a pinterest board for nursery and clothes ideas, but haven't made it public yet as we are waiting til we announce on Facebook next month. Do you guys have pinterest boards? I'll post link once it's public. It's fun "window shopping" online.

Hey duster, forgot to ask . . . at 15 weeks are you seeing a definite bump yet?

Pri, we are not finding out till birth!

Panda, no Pinterest for me. Just another internet thing, and I have plenty real life things to keep me busy!

Hey duster, forgot to ask . . . at 15 weeks are you seeing a definite bump yet?

Yes I definitely am! DH can for sure see it too, and one of his adult cousins asked me if I was pregnant on Sunday! So it must be getting obvious. :)

ETA photo. For reference I am 5'7", was 125lbs pre-pregnancy.

Your bump looks like mine, duster. But I'm just 14 weeks.
Tonight I had my first wedding dress fitting... and wow did it make me feel fat. I have to change the back from a zipper to a corset so that it will still fit me 6 weeks from now. xD

Duster, so you will be Team Yellow till birth??
You are GOOD!!! There is no way I would've been able to be "in the dark" haha it is killing me that I still have to wait 1 month!!

Exciting for you, it will be a big surprise and I'm sure plenty of guesses on the way!!
Very cute pic of you bump! :happydance:

Fading, you can't look fat! you have a bump and it should be very cute! But I see your point, it should be hard to try on wedding dresses knowing that you will be getting bigger and bigger every week!

Panda, I do have Pinterest, but I even forget I have it. not even sure if I really know how to use it :dohh:

I am 5'1 and weighed 127 lbs pre pregnancy, so I have a little bit of more fat than Duster and Fading, so right now it really just look I gained weight. My belly is bigger and my stomach is bigger also, but still does not show as a bump, just "fat".

I used the doppler yesterday and heard the HB. I found it interesting that every time I have a u/s or doppler the baby is ALWAYS on my right side.

I know I'm not actually fat, I just feel like I'm at the in between stage.
Once the alterations are done on my dress I know it will look awesome. I'm actually really excited to have a proper baby bump on my wedding day. My dress is very form fitting and tight, so I will get to show it off.

Hi ladies! I have been quite busy with work this week. I can not wait for maternity leave! lol As of right now I am taking 8 weeks off...not enough in my opinion, but we can't go too long without my income.

I did some yard sale shopping this weekend! One person had lots of like new and new baby stuff so we grabbed a few things. We got a few hats w/tags still on them, some cute gender neutral outfits, and I got a few maternity pants. It all only set us back $20.

Duster- I agree that you must have some major self control to stay team yellow, but I do agree that it would be exciting to wait! What a cute little bump you have :)

fading- Good thing they can change the back to help with your growing belly. :) At least you have something to help pass a little time. Getting ready for a wedding is crazy, fun, stressful, and exciting all at the same time.lol

Pri- That is super exciting you can hear baby! Maybe the baby just likes the right side better! :)

I am pretty jealous of your ladies little bumps. I am already plus size so it just looks like I have gained weight, I can't wait til it looks like an actual bump!

Fading: we want pics of the wedding after it happens, of course!
And Jules is right, you have a lot to keep your mind busy! these weeks will fly for you:

Jules: me too, it just look like I gained weight. Only have a couple of pants that still fit me, and using the hairband, nothing zips anymore, but I dont look pregnant yet... :nope:

See, to me, it wasn't even a choice to stay team yellow! All I want is a healthy baby. I will want to know for future pregnancies though, to prepare their older sibling for what is to come. I'm going to try to raise my child very gender-neutral, allowing him/her to choose likes/dislikes not tunneled into a gender role. Let me be the first to say, though, I think it's a girl. :)

I took a bit of a fall on our stairs today; my foot slipped out from under me and I landed on my butt. Called the OB amd she said there isn't much to do this early in the pregnancy but agreed to see me for peace of mind. HB was 140s-150, amd all my stats were good. Gained a bit of weight too! :) Fingers crossed things keep going well. I'm sore, but no cramping or spotting.

Take this as my warning to you: be careful!!!

I'm going to try to raise my child very gender-neutral, allowing him/her to choose likes/dislikes not tunneled into a gender role.

I'm hoping to be like that also.
I really dislike when people think that a baby girl has to be covered in pink and purples, and flowers and bows. Obviously I think some of it is cute, but if I have a girl, I will be putting her in every color. We already have a few more "boyish" outfits (blues and browns and reds) but I will be using them no matter the gender.
I actually just painted a wall in our room blue today that we will be putting the crib against. And when FI's parents heard that we were doing blue, their immediate response was "So I guess you're really banking on a boy". Um, no... Maybe I just like blue for any gender? The stroller we will be getting is blue also. Babies don't understand gender stereotypes, and I don't want to teach them it either.

*end rant*
:haha:

Dustergirl- Oh no! Falling is scary when your pregnant, so happy you got some reassurance from your doctor that all is well with baby.

I am super guilty of wanting to do something super girly or boyish for the nursery, though we will still get a lot of gender neutral things as well. I have had my babies nursery ideas picked out before we even got pregnant. Star wars if its a boy and pink, gold, and cream for a girl.

Other than that everything else will be gender neutral. Basically the carseat, stroller, pack and play, high chair, and all that due to wanting to be able to re-use it. I also think that kids should play with whatever toys they want even if our boy wants a barbie or our girl wants a truck. I will also have an array of colors in the wardrobe. My husband fell in love with a robot outfit and a skull/crossbones outfit so we got it thinking that could be used for both. lol
