is/was your LO a really bad sleeper? support and advise thread!

Just something else to add, I've found that rubbish naps (30mins) or good naps (1 1/2 hrs) seem to make no difference to LO's night time sleep.

Think I need to look into the protein thing for an evening meal. We did have chicken tonight but as usual he only ate 2 tiny bites. Does anyone have any links to any research about this?

Also, any of the bfing mums found anything that they eat - or + affect their LO's sleep? Do you all have decaf tea etc....I try to limit to only 2 cups a day of caffeinated tea before I switch to the decaf.

:flower:

Ramie, I haven't found that any food I eat to have a + or - effect on Lucy. I do try to limit my caffine intake and tea is all I have as I always have decaff coffee now....just incase! lol

We had a good night! :happydance:

Don't get me wrong, he still woke loads but a quick feed and he was snoring again. No 2 hour parties crawling around the bed!

How have your nights been ladies?

We are having a hellish night here. It's 1.30am and LO won't go to sleep. I've left her with DH while I have a break and she is screaming. It's made worse by the fact that last night we had a brilliant night. LO went down easily in her cot and slept until 4am when she woke and I took her into bed with me. Don't know what is going on tonight. She's having some serious tantrums. Not sure if it is teething that's making her so cranky or if there is something else. Might have to take her to the docs to get checked over if things don't improve. Anyway, better go and rescue DH. Hope you're all having better nights.

I used to think that dairy in my diet (mainly strong cheese) affected LO. And some ready meals (probably the preservatives?). Both would give him tummy pain/gas. I recently thought that soy milk was also affecting him and I have to say that since he stopped having it he sleeps slightly better.
oh, and I do not drink any caffeinated tea or coffe at all

Really don't understand why this thread was shunted off to Baby &Parenting when Noelle's thread is still in Baby Club. Not that I don't like the other thread too and most of the ladies on it. I just don't get it, is all.

that's a good point. why would that be?
anyway, I like our intimate thread :winkwink:

My boys are sleeping much better so I don't think I belong here any more but I still read your posts and I feel bad for you all. I so know how you are feeling.

I'm so glad you don't belong to this thread anymore!! :happydance:
Do you think they out grew it or was the result of any 'intervention'?

So I thought I'd let you know that we too think that giving protein as the evening meal seems to make them sleep better. Especially good seems to be stuff with chicken and cheese.
Also crucial for ease of putting them to bed is that they do not nap after 4:30. Their bedtime is 7 and if they napped till 5 then they will not be easy to rock to sleep. My boys are still on 3 naps a day but none of them very long. Maybe 45 mins at most though I try to have them nap for at least an hour for their after lunch nap. Lunch is at 11 btw.
Also we still have White Noise in their room and we put it quite loud so they won't hear us or the neighbours.
The room cannot be too warm so we aim for no more than 21C at the max and 19C at the minimum.
They like a muslin by their face but since both boys still have their belly band to keep them on their back and on their wedge, we tuck it under the velcro so it isn't a danger to them.
Hm I think this is all I can think of for the moment. Hope you all get some better sleep soon. xxx

thanks!

Hi ladies,

I haven't been getting email notifications so only just been on since last week!!

Mixed bag for us. Most of last week was awful, with him waking every 20-30 Mins. Friday night he slept at my sister in laws as I was in severe need of a break before doing the buffet Saturday for his christening and birthday party Sunday. The little monkey slept through for her from 9pm-8.45am!!!!!!!! 2nd time in a month he's slept through for her!
The only environmental difference I could think of is the temperature - it's between 19-22 degrees in his room but at SIL's there's no central heating so its a lot colder??
Unless he just realises mummy is a pushover!!! It's not the cot, as he sleeps in a travel cot at both her house and my dads but is a nightmare at my dads.

The last few nights he's slept in bed with me. Sunday night he slept great as he was exhausted from his party and was later going to bed. Been a nightmare the other nights.

I go back to work Monday and OH will be a SAHD but I highly doubt he will get up in the night with him.

Tonight has been excellent so far though (touch wood!!!), he went up at 7.10 and I was back down stairs listening to his snoring on the monitor by 7.20.
He woke at 7.50 and 8.20 but was very easily settled again within 2 mins and a rub of his back. I have heard his stir a few times since then but he's settled himself back to sleep :)

Sleepy dust ladies!!!

Oh my gosh I am so sorry I missed it! Happy belated Birthday Gael! Now that you are a big boy, let mummy sleep a bit more huh? :hugs:

It's quite funny we have 3 non sleeping babies all turn one within 3 days lol

I shall hopefully not miss your Alex' bday too!

thanks angel!
funnily enough he is sleeping a tiny bit better!

Happy birthday to Lucy, Gael and Alex for tomorrow! Hope I've not missed anyone :flower:

MrsHedgehog hope your nights have improved. That sounded like a killer the other night. Don't want to jinx myself but think I'm seeing some improvements, mainly the fact that he seems to be going back to sleep so much quicker now when he wakes in the night. Couldn't say how many times he wakes though as I'm always half asleep. xx

Happy Birthday Alex and congratulations Gemma :D

I hope you got some sleep and will have a fab day :) xx

Thank you!!
He's woken up with a new tooth, a snotty nose, and a cough so we can't take him swimming so we are gonna light the fire and have a pj day and watch his new DVDs instead! Xxx
