Johnsons Baby products

just because something is popular or normal, does NOT make it right for baby!! Thats a ridiculous statement! BF is better for babies but isn't the popular choice. There are loads of examples but i dont wanna cause a fight

PS i have lots of johnsons as they were gifts and they dont bother my LO although i will buy other kinds when i run out, i have organic lotion i bought for him.

Yeah fair play the OP did ask what's so bad about using Johnsons baby products but seriously, it's really not THAT bad. If it was it would NOT be advertised to be used on babies. You can't wrap up kids in cotton wool. And to link baby products to cancer is just scare mongering IMO.

I guess, but why wait to see if it bother's your LO's skin when there are gentler things out there that you know will not.

here's another one: https://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2009-03-12-formaldehyde_N.htm

Ok so the amount of formaldehyde is small and may not show signs of affecting EVERY baby (yet) but is that a good enough reason not to choose to use something without any formaldehyde?

SERIOUSLY !!! nowadays they say EVERYTHING can cause cancer :dohh:

I have to agree you cant do anything without it "maybe causing cancer" its madness you can't live like that.

And look at the rise in cancers these days. All that stuff that they said "could" cause cancer.... has! I know the list is endless but if you choose a few less preservatives and chemicals and a few more natural things, you are doing well. And that is doubly true for a baby.

I never said it was THAT BAD, but for some babies, it IS that bad! And I don't consider it scare mongering if what is being presented is factual. Just a presentation of some facts.

I merely pointed out that while some babies are just fine with the products, there are many who aren't, and if there are products available out there that I know for certain do not contain the same amount of chemicals in them, well then I'm goin' for those. Aaaand I'm allowed to say that, just as much as you are allowed to say that you use Johnson's on your babies and they are all fine.

You know what I really can not be bothered to argue !!!! I use it, it's fine with Keira, I also use it myself. Some babies it doesn't agree with and some it does...

Unless you're a proffessinal though I don't really think you can say it causes cancer or could do.

Did you mention in your post that the "natural" types can also cause reactions on SOME babies

Why are you being so argumentative, special_kala?

use johnson's if you like, i provided info for the OP's question, and I gave my opinion.

i feel that your comments to my comments are tinged with a rude tone, and i can't think of what i said that made you feel like making me look like i don't know what i'm talking about.

why is "natural" in quotations? it's almost as if you are saying that using "natural" products are just the same as using ones full of chemicals.

i'm reading back on my previous posts to see if anything i said was offensive and i've come to the conclusion that i have not, so why are you picking on the things i've said?

I read a post on here not long ago and one of you ladies mentioned how bad Johnsons baby products are.
I have been using bed time baby bath since chase was a month old and never thought about it being 'bad'. But now I am paraniod that I am doing something terriable by using the products.
Any one tell me why they are so bad and what you use instead?
TA!

never have i heard that Johnson's products were bad. I use them with my son and he's never had diaper rash yet, in his life (knock on wood) or any other discomfort. Please don't listen to wildly hormonal know it alls... haha. they are everywhere and think they are the end all be all of parenting. do whats right and comfortable for you!! I love Johnsons and Aveeno products, they work very well and are very affordable. As well as have been around for YEARS, which should be a testament to their fan-base.:hugs:

so who are the wildy hormonal know it alls that you are referring to?

vanessayogini, the thing is I think we're all just a bit sick quotes of random websites. Johnsons baby products aren't bad, maybe they can cause rashes and stuff on some skin but the majority are fine. Just because some Mums prefer to use natural products doesn't mean that those who are using johnsons are putting their babies at risk of cancer and if you quote websites that suggest they do then there's going to be a debate!

i provided information for the OP!!!!

I did not say "don't use johnson's or your baby will get cancer" !!!!

I dont feel like the websites you posted were particularly helpful, they just scare people and make them worry about things that are actually as ok as every other product for sale.

You said why use something when you can use something that your lo wont react to (words to that effect) you dont know that, people are allergic to naturally occuring things to and yes while you can get more natural products they are rarely all natural or most likely they wouldn't be able to be stored.

I am usually very open minded and agree that to many chemicals arnt good for anyone but i dont appreciate it when people post such one sided websites that only purpose seems to scare people rather then giving all round facts

Hun we all fully respect your decisions not to use these products on YOUR baby but you are coming accross as a bit of a preacher in your posts.

My personal opinion is the more you pander to a child, the more sensitive they will be when exposed to it at a later time because their bodys havent been able to build immunity to the substances.

Two friends of mine had babys at around the same time, one continued to use her normal washing liquid, the other changed to non bio. The one who used non bio now cant use any thing else as her LO comes out in a rash straight away whilst the one who didnt change can use any thing because her LO isnt as sensitive. Maybe it is a coinsidence but its something I beleive in.

Yes I was clearly referring to my OWN opinion. Which is completely allowed!!! Seriously this is ridiculous.

Preachy? So I'm coming off as preachy? At least I didn't call anyone any names. I believe I was referred to as being a "hormonal know it all", which is extremely undermining of my knowledge and also just plain insulting.

Not you or anyone on this posting - but I have come into communications randomly on this site with women who think they know every ounce of information regarding children, raising them- having them- illnesses- allergies- basic care. etc. Some women on this blog site are so preachy, they make my skin crawl. I have come into contact with a few that I feel are so bored and miserable with their own lives that they turn around and try to dictate to others. It's pretty rude and immature, but I know most women have been faced with a type like this- so I reiterate, don't let anyone tell you how to feel or parent- it's one of those "to each their own" type scenerios. I trust motherly instinct above all.

Yes of course you are allowed your opinion but personally i found the way you put it across as scaremongering and i really dont like that approach to getting your point across

i love how not bothering to think for 2 seconds about research is labeled "motherly instinct" Why not read it and take it on board rather than get defensive and immediately discredit it?

Have read it, infact read A LOT of research being a new Mum and all, but in all honesty it's nothing that common sense doesn't already teach ya! I live with (my loveeely OH) a doctor/scientist and to be honest most of it he disregards also! So don't assume people dont do their own research!
