please tell me what i said was scare mongering. OP asked specifically why someone might have said the products could be considered 'bad' so I posted a link that would answer that question. Then, I stated my own opinion, just like everyone else did.

On China there was a huge amount of commotion due to some reports - don't know how to true they were.

doctor/scientists are the ones who say that chemicals are ok and they wont entertain the idea of natural remedies. It would put them out of a job

Not oncologists hun, and that is very unfair on all medical proffessionals and very untrue tbh. And do you really think my OH would say it's ok to use chemicals on our son because it wont do any harm incase it puts him out of a job???
Hmmm!!

I dont feel like the websites you posted were particularly helpful, they just scare people and make them worry about things that are actually as ok as every other product for sale.

You said why use something when you can use something that your lo wont react to (words to that effect) you dont know that, people are allergic to naturally occuring things to and yes while you can get more natural products they are rarely all natural or most likely they wouldn't be able to be stored.

I am usually very open minded and agree that to many chemicals arnt good for anyone but i dont appreciate it when people post such one sided websites that only purpose seems to scare people rather then giving all round facts

I think in a way you're right... sometimes these sites just report for the sake of sensationalism... and then cause unnecessary concern

Omar got cradle cap frm Johnson's shampoo & allergy frm the lotion. But I love their baby soap- (it clears his drooling chin spots), & baby oil is very mild.

Hi - was it definitely from the lotion and shampoo? Ive noy heard of this before... just asked my wife - neither has she.

Hmmm, an oncologist shouldnt discredit research about cancer. No, i dont think that he'd say it was ok if he beleived it not to be, i am just saying that is a feild dedicated to man made remedies

(by the way on a side note i love the quote in your siggy about a baby making love stronger etc)

there are countless incidents of Johnson's baby products causing skin issues- as there are also countless incidents of baby's skin being just fine with the same products.

He discredits what in his opinion is rubbish! and thankyou :)

If you actually read the full report that was linked to it actually shows that Johnsons are not the worst products for these non-proven carcinogenic substances and quoting from the same research website "Even top-selling brands in the natural products sector have been found to contain 1,4-dioxane, a synthetic chemical carcinogen."
These studies are also based in America, in the UK we have got policies in place so that cosmetic companies can not add more than what is classed as safe levels of these chemicals to products.

I do think that it is each to their own when it comes to what you want to use on yourself and on your child but I studied Immunology and one or two reports/news stories would not be classed as proof that these products can do any damage, it takes hundreds of studies over many years to determine whether or not a product is harmful so I don't think that scaring people by quoting news articles is going to help.

I also love it, it's lush

just because something claims it is natural does NOT mean that it is. Just turn the label around and have a look. Again i will reitterate i have and do use johnsons as i dont like to waste what i have but i realise that actual natural products not "natural" products are much better as they are purer and work brilliantly in some cases. A few less chemicals near a babies skin cant do any harm... can it? And i dont think she was saying Johnsons is the only problem, she was refferring the OP to an article that would answer the questions of why she has heard what she has heard and stating an opinion that she uses natural products

by the way i meant to say earlier that johnsons baby bath (the purple stuff) is calming because it has lavender added. Lavender is a natural calming substance and if your LO doesnt do well with johnsons or you are reading and fancy going the natural route, look for lavender oil to add to LOs bath. Chamomile is fantastic as well. You can buy lavender and chamomile essential oils x

Haven't read the whole thread but I don't like to use them because they test on animals.

these reports are of studies conducted over many years, and of course i've read the full reports, i would never read part of something and then link it.

here is fact, ingredients in johnson's baby shampoo:
PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Fragrance, PEG-150 Distearate, Quaternium-15, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Citric Acid Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo, Tear Free - PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Fragrance, PEG-150 Distearate,Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo - PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Fragrance, PEG-150 Distearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate
plus animal testing.

ingredients in Dr. Bronner's Castile Liquid Soap Baby Mild:
Water, Saponified Coconut-Hemp-Olive Oils (with retained Glycerin), Aloe Vera, Olive Fatty Acids, Rosemary Extract.
no animal testing, 100% organic, LESS EXPENSIVE than J&J

tbh i don't use soap on my 7 month old baby yet, but when i do it'll be something like the latter.
as always, to each her own. do what you feel is right for you and your baby, etc. i'm genuinely sorry if anything i've said "scare mongered" anyone, was not my intention AT ALL, nor did I mean to incite any sort of debate. just presenting a different POV, and trying to answer OPs question.

I didn't know they tested on animals either, that's awful >.<
