I don't know - that thread is still going strong. Watch this space ...

Thanks everyone for your replies! I didnt mean for this thread to cause any arguments. I am glad to get all of your points of view as it helps with making an informed decision.

I didnt know J&J tested on animals so that was really interesting and that article was informative as well so thank you.

J&J havent caused any dramas so far but with winter arriving I have noticed her skin is dryer than normal so will look at swapping to something that doesnt dry out her skin so much.

Still have no idea what to swap to but will give some of your suggestions a try!

Ta XX

I use the johnsons baby talc and baby lotion on Aidan. I used to used to use the shampoo and the bath wash in the bath, but then once he discovered kicking and discovered his hands, he kept getting the products in to his eyes, and his eyes just flared up. So ive stopped using them and just wash him with the water now xx

I dont use normal johnsons products simply because i react to them so the boys are likely to be more sensitive we do use their "naturals" range body lotion and bath wash and its lovely and has actually helped clear up my ds1's dry skin patches, i use halo's and horns shampoo for their hair and its great and way gentler on the eyes than J&J.

On Animal testing although its not nice to think of then not all Animal testing is cruel to Animals and Who Here is going to offer up their Newborn or any child for these things to be tested on ? or buy a completely untested product ? unfortunatly if we want to have safety standerds and protect our LO's then these products ALL have to be tested even Natural and Organic ones they all gotta be tested on somthing so would you rather they tested it on a shaved pigs back or on your Child ? if they did away with all animal testing then NO new medications would ever reach us,

I've only skimmed this thread - not got time to read it all. I come on here and tell my mum some of the things I've read and we have such a giggle - we nickname it neurotic-mother&bump.com I get a lot of useful info from this site but on the whole - from pregnancy to baby - it has been a scaremongering fest. I use Johnsons on my baby, and when Im using it Cancer is the last thing on my mind. Bloody hell!! I put a post on here before about giving my LO cooled boiled water and someone said it could cause my LO to go into a coma I mean ffs! I had water as a baby, my mum used Johnsons products on me, she didnt have a mattress that set off an alarm if I stopped moving for 3 milliseconds, she pre-made my bottles and heated them in the microwave and look - im still alive and healthy! People have been living for thousands and thousands of years, ive gone completely off on a tangent here but ive been so irked off lately by people who scaremonger and create a massive drama over such futile things - haven't people got better things to worry about? Before you know it our LO's will be in school then adults themselves, I for one am sick of spending my time worrying about my LO because of things ive read on here - I wasted my pregnancy away doing the same. Each to their own at the end of the day but really...there are much worse things going on in the world than baby lotions.....

If you think this forum is so ridiculous then there is an easy solution - don't read it!

Where was the word ridiculous? If you read what I wrote - I said I get a lot of useful information from it (reason for not leaving) but much of it is very OTT. Even if I dont agree with something - why can't I read it? If nothing else it's entertainment...

Johnsons baby products made my LO skin really sore...

You didn't use the word ridiculous. That was the word I chose to describe the general thrust of your post. We are allowed to use different words you know.
You can obviously do what you like and if what you want to do is have a spiteful little giggle at the concerns of others then feel free. But don't expect other people on here to think posts like that are ok.

Was about to write something like this myself.

Just realised that I quoted the wring post. Sorry aimee!

Ridiculous and OTT are different IMO so I feel you're putting words into my mouth there. Not giggling but being entertained and I'm not the only one as was directed to this thread by a friend who said to make a brew and be entertained by the Johnsons thread - so I'm sure im not the only one, just the only one with the balls to come out with it! I stand by what I said - there are worse things to worry about in life than brands of baby lotions.

Thanks! was just about to say what did i say to offend?!

This is getting rediculous and going completely off topic and some people are getting really personal.

Just want to add, when i was at the hospital after giving birth i forgot my face cream and my skin was really dry so i put on som J&J baby oil and the next day my skin on my face was REALLY sore so i threw it away.
A couple of weeks later i used J&J baby wipes to take off my make up one night when i was tired, straight away my skin went sore and under my eye i got hives. we don't use ANY J&J products now at all.

Don't wanna get involved in any argument, i haven't read all the posts i am just adding my bit on the main post :flower:

IMHO the way you nicknamed the site belittles other people's concerns and to come out with that doesn't make you ballsy, it makes you insensitive.

I wouldn't belittle anyones major concerns - my post was referring to the mention of cancer in connection with these products. Some poor first-time mum may come on here and read that and think the absolute worst, I know I was scaremongered by many a thing on here before now - I just think some things are blown completely out of proportion. If I read and took in everthing thats written on this site i'd be afraid to do ANYTHING with my LO! Theres some good advice on this site but theres such extremes

Fair enough but I think unless you are in someone elses shoes you can't label their concerns minor or major, we all feel differently about problems don't we.

True. Being different is what makes the world go round? I'm just a bit narked off at worrying myself to death about things that have been said on here that make out like its the end of the world when babies have been brought up for centuries without this site doing many of the things that are apparently so BAD. That was the reason the OP started this thread in the first place - because she'd read on here that Johnsons products were BAD. From now on I'm going to fish through the threads on this board for the advice *I* want - like I said, my pregnancy was wasted through worrying as a result of ''OTT'' (IMO) things on here and i'm not about to let it stop me enjoying my LO now he's here.
