Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Maybebaby - Blooming teeth  I am so pleased you are treating yourself to a nice pampering hair-do, you deserve it!!! The baby einstein is so cute

H&F - I hope you enjoyed the lunch with your friends. Well done on being so frugal, I can spend £6.50 on only coffee and cake  Division of family responsibilities is such a toughy. My close family are all super-scatty and disorganised so I usually get left with arranging and organising anything important  I hope your Nan's procedure went ok :hugs:

Modo - it sounds like you are having fun cooking for Bobby, it is brilliant he has taken to BLW so well

Emera - I am so glad that Roh is home. I am sorry your OH was such a dufus when you got home. Men are just soooooo stoopid sometimes  When I was pregnant and needed a drink I would pour a little bit (about a teaspoon) of wine or brandy in an eggcup and dip my tongue in it until it was gone :haha: Daft I know but it made me feel better. I hope you enjoyed the special hot chocolate :p

Amy - I am sorry that your living room has been commandeered by the X-box :hugs: Like Emera, I love muffins and all I can think about now is muffins and how I want one, blueberry and cream cheese would be great

Sarah - Happy 7 month-a-versary to Oliver :cake: I am sorry you had such a crappy night, that really is not like Oliver at all  Hopefully you have snuck in a catnap or two with him today :hugs:

I am sitting about 4-5lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight and just can't seem to get any lower. I am not going to worry for a while as I generally carry 4-5lbs more over the winter and it tends to just come off once we hit the spring. I have ditched all my maternity clothes now but I am still regularly wearing one of my nursing bra's despite the fact I have not breastfed since August :haha:

Joni started saying ah da da da da ah da da da da yesterday, it is so cute :cloud9:

I finally managed to go to the baby clinic at my surestart to get Joni weighed and measured today  My little lady is now 17lb 10oz and 70cm long  I thought she had got a lot taller and 3 cm in the last 5 weeks would explain it :winkwink: I had a chat with my HV about weaning. Joni is eating really well now and on 3 meals a day. I had not planned to have her on three meals a day for another month or two but I have just followed Joni's lead. What has been concerning me is that in the last week she has drastically reduced her milk feeds really suddenly. The HV did not seem overly bothered because she is eating well and following the same centile for weight and height and just said to make sure she had at least a pint of formula a day and offer milk & water with every meal too. I am such a worrier

As much as I love chatting to you ladies I must go and get on with some chores, as goodness knows if I don't do them no one will :winkwink:

Have a lovely afternoon and evening everyone :hugs:

Maybe: its japanese rice balls that have a filling in the middle (mine have tuna).

Frufru: that's a great height and weight  Well done Joni for dada!

Sarah: Sorry about Oliver's lack of sleep :( but that is so lovely that Oliver is saying mama. I can't wait for Bobby to say it (although I know that it doesn't me he knows that its me yet!) :cloud9:

Hey girls :hi:
Haven't been on this thread in ages! Can't believe how quick amelias growing up. She was 5 months two days ago, can see a tooth coming and she's on 2 meals a day :)

Hope everyone and there babies are all ok.

This joke gave me a chuckle!

A married couple went to the hospital to have their baby delivered.
Upon their arrival, the doctor said that the hospital was testing an
amazing new high-tech machine that could would use radio waves
to transfer a portion of the mother’s labour pain to the baby’s father.

He asked if they were interested. Both said they were very much in
favour of it.

The doctor set the pain transfer to 10% for starters, explaining that labour was a very intense experience and that even 10% was probably more pain than the father could possibly handle. But as the labour progressed, the husband felt fine and asked the doctor to go ahead and kick up the pain transfer machine a notch.

The doctor then adjusted the machine to 20% pain transfer. The husband was still feeling fine. The doctor then checked the
husband’s blood pressure and was amazed at how well he was doing.

At this point they decided to try for 50%. The husband continued to feel quite well. Since the pain transfer was obviously helping the wife
considerably, the husband encouraged the doctor to transfer ALL the pain to him.

The wife delivered a healthy baby with virtually no pain and the husband had experienced none. She and her husband were ecstatic.

When they got home they found the postman dead on the porch.

Modo that joke made me laugh!

Will update properly later ...just off to weight watchers!wish me luck! if i lose 3lbs this week we are having a takeaway yay!

Modo
Ahhh I'm so tired! I haven't managed a nap today and I am sooooo tired!!

I'm on my phone as I'm just getting Oliver settled, he's asleep in my arms so I lknow I should put hum down but I'm all cosy and comfy :haha:

We had a fairly busy day, we all had an appointment with our new dentist, so despite having no teeth Oliver had his first appointment and got a sticker for been a good boy :) the dentist thinks he can feel one of his top teeth coming through, though I can't so I'm not sure. I have to go back next week for a tooth out (which I was expecting) and to have a fillng replaced. Poor Steve also needed to tooth removing and the dentist did it there and then! I felt a bit guilty since I made the appointments etc but Steve said he knew it needed removing, so he didn't mind.

HandF I'm sorry you have so much on your plate right now, I hope your nan is doing well :hugs:

Modo what cook book is that? It sounds good, I could do with something like that.

Right, well I'm going to pop Oliver in bed now and go and tidy up. Our work really is never done is it?!

Xx

Good luck H&F :D

Sarah: The book is also by Gill Rapley you can get from Amazon here its really great and I all the recipes I have made came out quite nice (IMHO). I made an appointment with the dentist too for next week but they wouldn't register Bobby yet :( they said that they won't see him till he is three.

Thanks Modo! I'll check that book out!

Gosh that's bad re the dentist! They were more than happy to see Oliver today, the dentist just felt his gums and then talked about brushing his teeth twice a day etc as soon as he has something to brush etc. I asked how often babies / children should be seen and he said to bring Oliver back in about 9 months, when he has a few more teeth, and then as long as his teeth were well looked after it was every year, or every six months if there were any issues. I was really impressed actually.

That's really good Sarah! I am going to try and talk the dentist into seeing Bobby.

Sorry a bit of a rant from me......

I was reading the Carseat thread in Baby Club and I was pretty devastated to discover that the Pearl carseat I bought is Frontfacing. I am so annoyed because the Maxi Cosi Rep told DH and I that the seat would work as forward facing or rear facing. Now I am going to have to try and return it from Mothercare and get a refund for the seat and the isofix base :(

After all that I will have to buy the Maxi Cosi Mobi from Sweden because their are no rearward facing carseats in the UK :(. I really do not need this crap right now :growlmad:

Modo we have the maxi cosi mobi! Its great, I love it! When I get my new car I am going to go and have one fitted in there too. I bought mine from a stockist in York so although they are few and far between a few olaces to have them, I will have a look when I get a second and see if I can find a stockist near you. It really is best to have it fitted into your car, we looked at another seat which should have fitted in Steves car but for some reason it didn't.

That's really bad about mothercare, how rubbish! When I asked anywhere about rearfacing they would say oh yes, this one does but then you look and it does, but only to 25ib :dohh: So many places haven't even heard of extended rear facing!!

Modo there are a few stockists in the south! If you go on www.rearfacing.co.uk and look at the buyers guide there will hopefully be one not too far from you :) x

Evening Everyone-

Sarah thanks for that site! I have been looking for a car seat as Amy seems so squished in her maxi cosi now!

I lost 4lbs this week! I am a very happy girl! Thats 2 stone gone yay.

H&F: Well done!!!! :happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I found the Mobi on kiddicare :yipee::yipee::yipee::yipee::yipee::yipee::wohoo::wohoo::wohoo::wohoo::wohoo:

evening all! i just got into bed and owen woke up :dohh: i bf him and he's asleep.............for now! going to try and get some rest will post properly tomorrow!!!

sarah - happy 7 month birthday Oliver!! sorry you had such a rubbish night, I hope you get more sleep tonight :hugs:

maybe - I found getting my haircut made me feel a million times better - you DEFINATELY deserve it! :hugs:

H&F - I'm so sorry your parents had to cancel their weekend away and that your aunt wont help! :hugs:

frufru - Alex has also dramtically dropped milk feeds over a couple of days. i was completely engorged yesterday! I weighed him on my home scales and he was 18lbs 8oz - not a skinny boy anymore! they must get more calories from milk than we realise! :flower:

modo - thanks for the recipebook link :hugs: that is shocking you were so mislead over car seats :grr:

I braved the town for christmas shopping today and i hated it, I hate shopping at the best of times but it was sooo busy urgh. I can get the rest online though. Its also my sisters birthday next week and I found her a lovely necklace which was half price - I love a bargain :)

Evening!

Phew only just sat down!

Roh is doing much better today, he's just normally ill rather than scary ill now

Had a massive barny with OH earlier, when he got all shirty with me and told me i was totally unsupportive of him and obsessed with the baby  well, i set a few things straight i can tell you! Anyway, its good we had a fight, because afterwards when we calmed down we had a really good chat and sorted quite alot of things out, he apologised alot for how rubbish he's been recently and even cooked me dinner :)
One of the things that came out of the arguement though is that we moved Roh into his own room tonight, i'm really not happy about it, but then saying that, i know we really should have moved him well before now, i have just kept finding excuses to wait  I'm a bit worried, because he's still a bit ill, but actually his room is probably better for him than our room, the temperature is more stable overnight, there is doubleglazing, so its less drafty and its an extention to the flat, so it tends to be less dusty than the rest of the house as its newer, also the boiler is in our bedroom, and although we have a carbon monoxide alarm, i can't help but think that he's safer in the nursery. Anyway, he resisted alot at bedtime, he wasn't so much unhappy as just really alert and having a good look around at everything :) He only settled down about an hour ago, so i've been catching up on the housework and re-arranging our bedroom a bit now his stuff is out of there. I have to say i'm slightly jealous of the nursery its lovely and cosy in there :) OH likely thinks we'll DTD tonight now :haha: not too likely in my opinion, as i'm still feeling pretty tired from the last few days. I napped with Roh for both his naps today though, which has helped, but i still don't think i'm up for any hanky panky! :haha:

About teeth by the way, Roh has had the bottom 2 through for around 2 months now, but there is still nothing on the top row, apart from some bumps, i keep thinking they are coming, and then nothing happens:shrug:

Phew, well think i'll go take a bath, might as well get comfy now, because i'm pretty sure that once OH is asleep i'll be sneaking into Roh's room to kip on the chaise longue :winkwink:

:hugs:

Modo - good joke  Those rice balls sound yummy, lucky Bobby  That is so rubbish about your carseat :growlmad: It is really naughty that the rep misinformed you :nope: I hope you manage to get your refund :hugs:

Hannah - Happy (albeit slightly belated) 5 month-a-versary to Amelia :cake: It sounds like you are both enjoying weaning  I hope your wedding and Christmas plans are coming together for you :)

Sarah - no naps :sad1: Like you I try to put Joni down if she falls asleep on me, but she does not fall asleep on me very often now and I know it will get more infrequent as time goes by so I always give myself an extra few minutes to drink in the memory of my peaceful sleeping beauty :cloud9: Bless Oliver and his dentist appointment :awww:

H&F - Great loss  enjoy the take away :winkwink: it is certainly well deserved!

Maybebaby - I hope you had a nice time at your Mum's and that she had a lovely birthday :cake:

Emera - While it not good Roh is still poorly I am glad he is gradually on the mend. Obsessed with the baby eh - I believe there is a word for that, oh yes 'MOTHER' :dohh: We found Joni was a lot happier in her own room, I think we (by we, I mean hubby and his snoring)disturbed her sleep and woke her up a fair bit. When we transitioned her into her room I slept in there with her for a few nights but am still not sure if that was for her or my benefit

Amy - I hate Christmas shopping too. It sounds like you have it under control though  I am usually one of those people who have their shopping done by the end of October but this year I have been so disorganised  I suppose in a weird way it is fortunate I am too poor to buy present for all the people I usually gift to as it makes my job a lot easier  that sounds awful when I re-read it but you have to look for the silver lining in every situation  Hubby has a half day holiday tomorrow and Monday so I am getting a list together of everything I need to get in the city so I can go in on my own and blitz it in a oner!

Joni and I have just had breakfast :p Joni has been quite quiet all morning but now she has had her solids she is full of energy! She has stopped taking a full feed when she wakes and only has 3-4oz compared to the 6-7oz she used to drink. I currently wait 1-1.5 hours to give her breakfast but wonder if this is her edging towards an earlier breakfast.

I have a friend visiting today and then this evening I have my dinner out with my yoga Mummy friends which I am looking forward to

It would seem the entertainment value of Joni's playstation has diminished so I best be off to amuse the wee one. Have a lovely day everyone :hugs:

Maybe I hope last night was ok, good luck tonight!

Amy: I hate Christmas shopping. I try and do all my pressie buying online but Mothercare keeps telling me that my order is delayed due to weather! Well done on your bargain. The recipe book is great, I can't recommend it enough

Emera: I can't believe your DH said you were obsessed with the baby! It great that you talked and things are better :) Moving Bobby to his room really helped him sleep better:thumbsup:

Frufru: hope you had fun with your friend and dinner!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for all your support with the carseat debacle! DH tried fitting it in the car and there is noway this carseat goes rearwards  So we are going to have to go to Mothercare on Monday and try and return it and the isofix base. I really hope they take them back but I doubt they will :( the carseat has a calpol stain and we no longer have their boxes. Plus we have no proof the Maxi Cosi rep told us it was both forward and rear facing :( I guess I will have to eBay them if Mothercare don't take them back.

On a nicer note Bobby had smoked salmon bagels for breakfast. He started with the salmon taking it off the bagel and putting it in his mouth and sucking on it. He then did the same with the bagel. I think he def swallowed some smoked salmon though!

Hi everyone  I have been a bit rubbish at coming on here as I have been keeping up to date with what most of you have been up to through Facebook. Is there anyone I haven't added?

Emera sorry to hear that Rohan has been so ill. Hope he is feeling better very soon.

Modo that's rubbish about the car seat and how annoying that they lied to you. We have a Britax Two Way Elite and it's fab as it can be rear facing until 55lbs, though we can put it forward facing if we want to (that will be a no then )

Went to a playcentre today with my friend, as Oliver seemed ok (for those of you not on Facebook he had a high temp last night and was very unsettled) and he liked the ball pool, and going down the big slide with me though i am pretty sure I enjoyed playing a little bit more than he did

Right off to order a few bits of Christmas presents online, I love shopping online from the warmth of my home with no busy shops, no carrying heavy bags and no trip to the post office to send them! :happydance:
