Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Muddles when Oliver had a sickness bug I was told to keep trying - he wanted to b'feed still so I still fed on demand and offered water too. They said even if he throws it up he will have kept something down. Even if it doesn't seem that way. I hope he's better soon!

L-C it sounds like you need an early night!

Well, meant to reply to people, but I'm soo tired! Think Freyja is having her first growth spurt, so didn't sleep much last night. She makes me laugh though as she growls when she's hungry rather than crying! :haha:
Roh has had a cold all week and I think this evenng that Freyja is coming down with it too! :( Seems very unfair to have a cold already at lkess than 2 weeks old! :(

Emera - subsequent babies pick up all the bugs from older siblings :( Erin got bronchiolitis at 4wks and we had to take her to hospital!

Muddles - how is Oliver?

Thanks :hugs: Roh is nearly over his cold, and Freyja is doing ok now, just snuffley and sleepy. Not feeding brilliantly, but she'll be fine i think.

Hope Oliver is less sicky now :hugs:

Thanks ladies :flower: I appreciate all the advice and tips.

He hasn't asked for milk since just before his bath last night so I haven't offered it to give his tummy a chance to settle. He last threw up just as I was about to put him in the bath last night. He managed to keep down some toast this morning and almost 1/2 a baked potato with a tiny bit of butter and then he had 1/2 an apple. He was delighted with the appple and blackcurrant ice lollies I bought this morning, so much so that he ate one then said 'more more please', walked to the kitchen saying 'mummy come' and pointed at the freezer! So it certainly sounds like he is on the mend. His nappies have been much wetter today than yesterday and water is staying down, he is so thirsty and I have had to refill his bottle three times and then make sure he doesn't gulp it. He did have a bit of a temperature this morning so i gave him so Calpol and it came back down again. He hasn't had two naps in one day since before he turned one but today he has, he is currently asleep so bedtime could be fun or I could be up at 4am for the day!

Emera Glad Roh and Freyja are on the mend too.
Maybe how was your day of parties yesterday?
Sarah Am loving the mini greenhouse pics on fb.

Hi to everyone else

Muddles I know you asked previously about tips for dealing with 2 babies, I haven't forgotten! Will reply later from computer! Off to school now! Thank god last week of term! Pity our hols are only 1 week!

muddles here are some of my suggestions for baby no 2!

1. i am assuming that as you bf oliver you'll be bf baby no2. a tip i was told to keep the older child busy whilst you are bf LO is to make a breastfeeding box and in it put special books/toys that you only use at this time. that way you can feed baby and still interact with oliver.

2. get a double buggy (i dont remember if you have done that already) dylan still napped when erin was born and we really used it. i also used it with erin and owen.

3. establish a bedtime routine for LO. with dylan i used to let him fall asleep in the buggy at night, i even used to take him for walks so he would go to sleep) i didnt make the saem mistake with erin. i put her in the cot on her own from about 7 months (after she no longer fitted in the crib) she has turned out quite easy to put to bed as a toddler. i think you had a routine for oliver though didnt you? i was crap with dylan!

4. learn to bf lying down. it was the only way i got any rest! she fed whilst i slept. i never mastered the art of bf lying down with dylan.

5. get oliver to help you with the baby, like fetching a new nappy etc.

6. time will fly even quicker the 2nd time round, don't forget to take lots of pictures! :)

if i think of anything else i'l let you know :)

Good tips Maybe! The feeding lying down thing is amazing! I think Freyja maybe woke up once last night, possibly twice, but I don't remember because although I think I latched her on at some point I never woke up enough to be sure! :haha: its great, I'm probably averaging 5-7 hours of vaguely interrupted sleep a night! amazing stuff!

I've decided not to get a double buggy. I just bought a new stroller, which I love! Anyway I have my 2 carriers both of which are great so with those the stroller and the buggy board I reckon I'll manage, even if they both want to sleep when we are out :)

Must remember to take more pictures! I wish I could get a nice one of the two of them together, but Roh is hard enough to snap a the best of times, they all end up with Freyja + blur! :dohh:

Well we were discharged from MW care today, had our 10 day check (at 13 days) everything seems to be fine :) Freyja only lost 2oz from her birth weight so was 7lb 13oz at 3 days. Now at 13 days she's 8lb 9oz! seems like she's doing great :)

Maybe - great tips - thankyou! (I know they werent for me but i have kept a note of them!!!)
Emera-great news re being discharged!!! Are you co sleeping then to be bfing at night? Do you have a craddle me crib or similar (you have probably already said but i am really suffering with baby brain at the moment!)
Everyone else, hey! Hope you are all ok xx

Mork, currently I'm using a moses basket, so have her in there until she first wakes and then she's in the bed for the night really. We have a big bed, and I have a barrier on my side so it's safe enough. We have a cotbed which we've adapted for when she's a bit bigger to use as a sidecar cot.

Thanks hon, I am thinking more and more about this as time goes on, not sure how i feel about baby being in the middle of us as dh is a heavy sleeper so we didnt do this with T until she was bigger. I have a bed rail on my side too, hmmm...food for thought!!! :) xx

Mork I never have her between us, its not very safe to do that! OH could easily squish her! Basically I have her between me and the edge of the bed and I have a duvet up to my waist then a cellular blanket over my top half and her. I sleep with her like spoons, with her against my tummy facing outwards, then I just turn her over to feed her. If I get fed up of sleeping on my side I sleep on my back with my arm round her.
Ended up co-sleeping with Roh last time, but didn't really know what I was doing, so I've researched doing it safely this time ;)

Mork we've coslept since birth, to begin with just with Oliver in bed on my side, then from about 12 weeks with the cotbed with a side off as a sidecar cot - its absolutely great, I would 100% recommend it  I wouldn't put baby in the middle - mum has much more awareness (apparently even more so if breastfeeding) but Dads don't :dohh: I was amazingly aware of Oliver when he was small and in our bed, I really felt a natural instinct kick in, it was a really amazing thing. I slept on my side with him in front of me. It was wonderful, it felt so natural. I would wake up just as he was stirring so he never woke fully and would just latch on and fall back asleep - so I didn't really wake up properly either. I have the most wonderful memories of waking up in a morning with his face right in front of mine, feeling his breath and his big eyes just looking right at me. I was looking at him and he was looking at me and it was as if we were both thinking wow, you're pretty cool :haha:

We've had a lovely day today :) Oliver and I went over to my SIL's so she could teach me how to knit :haha: We both love our crafts and like to get together to make things every now and then :haha: So her aunty tought her how to knit at the weekend so she's been making little easter things, they sit on a creme egg etc and look very cute. I haven't knitted since I was about seven but its amazing how it came back to me! So this afternoon I went and bought some needles and wool and made a chick - except as you can see from the pic on Facebook I couldn't get online to see the pattern so I had to make it up a bit and it all went a bit scarey  I'll try again though and hopefully have more luck

I've also decided to get my hair cut off  Its driving me mad. Its so long and thick and boring. I never get chance to do anything with it so I end up fastening it back or I look like a lion :haha: So I'm going to try to get booked in for Thursday as Steve is off, and I'm going to get it cut to about chin length I think. Its ages since I've had short hair but I'm hoping it might make me look younger and less haggard :haha:

Sarah - I once knitted a jumper for my baby cousin. Since then nothing! I can't even remember how to cast on! Lol!

Mork - glad the tips were useful :)

Emera - glad you're getting some semblance of sleep!

3 more days til the Easter hols! Can't wait! Am throwing a surprise party for my school choir tomorrow after school instead of rehearsals. They've worked super hard and deserve a treat! So need to go get supplies later. Good thing it's pay day today as am broke!!!

Sarah: I thought your chick was pretty good!

Maybe: great tips! Love the surprise party idea. You sound like such a wonderful teacher :D

Mork: we are going to be getting a sidecar initially and then use Bobby's cotbed with one side removed.

Thanks so much for the tips, they are very useful and i have taken note of them. :flower:

Hey everyone! Hope you are all okay and managed to get out in the sunshine these last few days! Its been so gorgeous, we've been spending a lot of time in the garden, its been great! Oliver has become obsessed with the hose pipe :haha:

I had my hair cut today and I love it! Its soooooo short compared to my long hair - I can't tie it back or anything - but I love it :) I put a pic on facebook

Well I have two weddings to set up tomorrow, I completely didn't realise what day it was and left all my prep to today (whoops) so I've spent the whole evening getting everything ready. I usually do it a few days in advance so it all felt a bit wrong doing it so late, but its all fine now :)
