Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Oh Sarah great deal on the flexa! Ours cost us a few hundred with d and need to get another for o soon

Hey everyone! Wow its been quiet in here! I hope you are all okay!

Things are good here, I'm trying to get organised before we go away next week. I am doing okay so far so I'm not feeling too stressed - yet! Still quite a lot to do though. And I am so hoping that the weather improves! Oliver would be quite happy spending a week jumping in puddles though I'm sure!

Other than that not much happening here. Oliver finally started saying his own name today - he literally says hundreds of words now but has always referred to himself as 'I' :haha: Formal boy  Steve was talking to him about names this afternoon and said to him 'so mummy is called mummy but she also has another name, do you know what it is?' and as clear as anything Oliver just said 'Sarah'. We were both a bit stunned because I hardly ever get called Sarah around Oliver, I couldn't believe my ears! They really do pick up SO much!

Oliver now counts to ten really nicely and can read his numbers up to ten. He is pretty good with shapes but we're still working on colours, he doesn't seem to quite get that yet. I'm sure it will come. We put things the same colour in groups (like toys etc) and talk a lot about what colour things are. Does anyone else do fun colour games we could try?

Not much else to report really. I saw the new iCandy Strawberry 'in person' for the first time yesterday - ooohhhh is LOVELY! I can't justify getting one now that Oliver pretty much walks most of the time. I did almost say to Steve that we could have another baby if I could have a Strawberry though

Sarah, at having babies to get a pram! :D

Roh is pretty bad with numbers but very good with shapes and colours. Only thing I do with him is get him to name colours and shapes really  t all comes from his mister maker obsession, that's where he picked it up. Well OH and F are driving me nuts!! He's snoring really loudly, and she's just makng loads of loud baby noises and refusing to go to sleep. Contemplaing going into Roh's room to sleep with him! :dohh:

Emera I hope you got some sleep!!! I have nights with Oliver snoring on one side and Steve snoring on the other :haha:

We don't really watch Mister Maker, maybe we should  He will say the colour names, but if you give him a blue car he'll say its red etc :haha:

Hi everyone

Just a quick update from me.

We will be moving next week I think. So very busy planning for that! We saw B's paediatrician on Tuesday and got a referral in May to see a Speech Therapist. The doctor thinks his comprehension is fine but he is just having a hard time getting words out. Hopefully the speech therapist can help us figure out what we are doing wrong. Saw the Consultant MW yesterday as well went over my birth plan with her and my doula. MAde a few changes but they seem fine with almost everything. Have been having trouble sleeping at night and feeling a bit hormonal :(

Modo :hugs: I couldn't sleep the last couple of months, and I was really miserable. Not long to go now though!

Sarah, mister maker does my head in :haha: roh thinks its the best thing though! He'll name colours wrongly somtimes but if he's concentrating he gets them all right. We sometimes play games feeding his toys, like "teddy eats red, can you find something red for teddy to eat" then if its the right colour teddy really enjoys it and if its wrong he says no to it etc. That sort of thng  I try not to psh him to learn anything, just use what he's interested in. :)

Got some sleep in the end. OH let me sleep till 11am. He's now gone to his first proper day back at work in 5 weeks  I'm on my own with 2 children!! think I'll be fine!

Modo I hope the move goes well! I'm sure it will :hugs: Just thinking about packing puts me off moving :haha: Your meeting with the doula and the midwife sounds really positive! I'm sure Bobby's speech will just all come along at once :hugs:

Emera we tend to make all the 'learning' things a game, like for numbers we just count a lot off things, read number books etc. He loves counting though.

Well we had a few things to do today but its absolutely throwing it down outside and has been since this morning so we're staying in. Apparently some of the roads are flooded so I don't really fancy driving and there is no way I'm walking anywhere :haha:

How nice to hear from everyone! :)
Sarah I love the strawberry too but oh won't let me get one either though we are having another baby :(
Modo great news re the move and mw ok ing your birth plan! It must be so stressful moving and being so pregnant, hugs xxx
I'm on my phone so will reply more later to everyone else, plus I had my gtt today and been feeling so Ill since-I have to do it again as threw up copiously ten mins before I was due to finish :( xxx

Hi everyone I'm signed off sick for the rest of the week. Have a virus which has gone to my tonsils leaving a nice ball of pus there! Poor Dan is not well either but has gone in tonight. Reckon he will be at dr tomorrow! Kids all coughing and spluttering too! Roll on the better weather!

Hi

Maybe - hope you feel better soon!!

Sarah - Oliver sounds so good with his speach and colours, we're not really anywhere near there yet. Keep telling myself it'll all come at once but doesn't seem to..

Modod - Goodluck with the move hun, you're braver than me, it'll be lovely once you're in! That's great getting a referral for Bobby. It's got me thinking about Will, he really doesn't say very much, just makes different noises which we interpret. Glad you are happy with your birth plan. Mine seems so up in there air as the baby is still breach.... I think. We will see today as I have my 36 week appointment. It's a shame as I thought the acupuncture was going to work, but I still have hiccups very high up, Will's were near my hip. So I'm torn between preparing for a normal birth with no epidural this time and getting my head around a c section. Don't even think it'll become much clearer as, baby even if it's looking like a c section baby could turn at the last minute - urrrrghhh.

Mork - how are you feeling, can't believe you're almost 30 weeks!

Emera - what's mister maker?? We have peppa and ben and holly on mostly. Your lie sounds lush, hope your first proper day alone went well.

Well, I'm officially on leave today, Will is in nursery, typically he was really clingy when I dropped him off. Usually there are no tears or problems, I think he must have sensed I felt bad about taking him when I'm off. I'm going to go into town and get a few bits to sort out my hospital bag and have a mw apt this am.

I am sat with a cup of tea and croissants mmmmmm

LC: I am actually concerned about my birth plan. I thought I was ok with how the meeting with the head of midwifery but after not sleeping for two nights, I realised that I am not happy with the compromises they want me to make. Conversely they haven't given me any guarantees in exchange for these compromises. I really hope your appointment helps the baby turn hon :hugs: Are they prepared to let you birth the baby naturally even if breech?

Argh think I'm going to be on Sky news later at 5pm, assuming they use the interview I did, I was babbling a bit! :haha: If I'd known they'd be at playgroup I would have brushed my hair at least!! :haha:

What will you be talking about? I'll make sure we watch!

Xx

It was about maternity and debt and the costs of returning to work etc.

Sarah if it was this morning they were doing live segments from my playgroup! Live filming and Roh was ramming the cameraman's legs with a ride on tractor! :haha:
Looking at their angle they are reporting I doubt they'll use anything I said as I doubt I said what they were looking for. Might be in the background though

Oh wow emera I'll be watching.

Modo - hun, that's not good if you are losing sleep over it, you have to be happy with it. It's your birth hun, hope you get it sorted xxxxxxxx

She's turned!!! Think she must have done it last night, had me up lots and then had a funny tum this morning so think it was all the wriggling around, yipeeeee.
