Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Evening lovely ladies

I hope you are all doing okay!

We're okay, had a bit of a stressful evening that I need to talk about to get off my chest! So I had a wedding to set up tonight for tomorrow, I usually don't do any setting up in an evening but its an early wedding and the venue (who recommend me to all their weddings) asked me to do it tonight, so I didn't want to let them down. So mum came up to look after Oliver, and dad came to help me set up. Steve was working at 8pm but someone called in sick so he got his shift changed to start at 10pm instead and work through until 8am - which is crappy and pissed him off a bit I think. Anyway, so to start with getting to the venue was terrible, it took twice as long as normal and the weather was shocking. We got there, set up fine, and we were just leaving when I noticed a missed call from Steve. I called him back and he asked how long we would be because Oliver was hysterical, really tired, asking for me etc  I said 20 mins and he hung up on me. He then called me back and I could hear Oliver in the background all upset  and he ended up putting the phone down on me again. By this point Dad was driving as fast as he safely could and I was in tears. It felt like the longest 20 mins ever. I felt so bad, I never go out in an evening and it was absolutely a one off but I felt so guilty and I was so upset. So we got home and I dived out of the car and typically Oliver was sat playing with my mum, full of smiles and didn't even want a cuddle from me :dohh: We played for a bit and then I got him ready for bed etc and now he's fast asleep and absolutely fine. But I feel terrible  Mum said he didn't cry for long, and she was fine about it. But I feel so guilty   And Steve made it quite clear that he thinks I'm the worst mum ever :( I won't do any more evening set ups. I just want to curl up and cry, I feel so guilty

On a brighter note.....I just won a Flexa bed on ebay for ten pounds!!! :happydance:

Sarah, yay for the win!
You are so not a bad mum and shame on Steve for even making you feel like that!! I'm really appalled he called you and then hung up on you, twice!! What did he expect you to do, teleport home? He clearly is the one who needs to sort his parenting out! We all have to deal with tired, hysterical toddlers on a daily basis, I'd be very dissappointed with my OH if he panicked like that and called me, rather than making the effort to calm and distract Roh, which let's face it, is all they really need to get out of a wobbler, wether its caused by being angry or upset, its all the same thing, comfort and distract!
As you saw when you got home, he was clearly ok, even if he temporarily was upset by the fact you weren't there. Its definitely more of a reflection on how comfortable Oliver feels with his Dad tthan it is a reflection on you! Sorry Oliver gets upset, but he won't remembeR it tomorrow so don't dwell on it. :hugs:

Oh just re-read that your mum was there too Sarah, didn't she think Steve was over reacting a bit?? Sorry you feel terrible, you shouldn't, its not like you were out on the town, you were WORKING!! :hugs: :hugs: you run your own business and do all the childcare, Steve is lucky to have you, and you are a great Mummy!

Thanks Emera :hugs:

I think Steve just gets frustrated / upset that he can't make everything okay - but Oliver sometimes cries when I'm there and I can't get him to stop until he wants to  Fair enough if I'd been at home he would have been in bed by then, and I won't arrange anything on an evening again. When I said I'd be 20 mins and he said that wasn't good enough I did say errrrrr okay I'll get my wings out and fly home :dohh: Thats when he hung up :haha:

I don't think it helps that Steve has just stopped smoking again . . . . . he didn't smoke a lot before (in fact only at work or when Oliver and I were in bed :haha:) but still, I guess that could be making him feel crappy. I'm so pleased that he's stopped, I hadn't asked him to but he had a bit of a health scare recently and I think it made him realise that he should stop. He's been doing really well so I guess I can deal with him grumping at me :haha:

He's so wonderful with Oliver when he's not crying . . . . . but he starts crying and he's no good. But then he's always been the same with me :haha: If I cry about something he just can't deal with it.

Men! :dohh:
Well good on him for quitting again I hope the scare makes it stick! OH has just hit a year since quitting now, very proud of him :).
I think everyone here knows exactly what its like trying to calm a crying toddler! :hugs: I'm glad my OH is generally calm enough to ignore it and distract Roh with some fun :). He does shout at Roh more than I'd like though. Sometimes he shouts and it makes Roh cry, if I'm there he'll look at me and be like "oops, a bit too much??" :dohh: he has a scary shout! :haha:

I can't believe I have a 2 year old, and also F is 1 month old tomorrow!! I'm going to leave her with OH agan for a couple of hours to take Roh to toddler group. Expressed somwe milk, so she shouldn't starve, although if you heard her screamiing after 10 seconds warning of hunger you'd think I never fed her! :haha: I fnd it so od tha she weighs the same now as Roh did at about 15 weeks old, very odd seeing her in the clothes Roh wore at 4 months old! :haha: She's very sweet though, and is starting to do little smiles and looks rather than the grumpy old man stare newborns do! :)
Roh is being a sweety and had a lovely time on his birthday :) we have sooo much Duplo now, ace!

Oh Sarah, meant to ask you said you might be in Bristol or passing around now, still happeniing? You should pop in for a cuppa if it is! :)

I didn't really speak to Mum about it much, she just said Oliver was fine and had got a bit upset and was asking for me, but that he was fine after a little while. She wasn't stressed out or anything and was fine really  But then I can stay calm etc when Oliver is crying and Steve is getting stressed about it . . . . its almost like he sees like he's doing something wrong if he can't get him to stop crying, where as really sometimes there is nothing you can do  Usually he gets his phone out and shows him some videos or photographs and he's fine. i think the stopping smoking thing might have been something to do with it, and getting his shift changed at such late notice . . . . I don't know. Oh well, its all fine now I think

Well done to your OH with the not smoking!! Steve stopped and didn't smoke for ages, and then started again (at work) and it just crept back in I think. Hopefully it won't be as hard for him this time (or for me :haha:). I hope he sticks with it, I think he will though. We hadn't mentioned him stopping but then the other day he said that he'd thrown everything away and had stopped, so I was pretty proud that he'd taken that step :)

Oh yes we could well be popping to Bristol!! Its the week after next! We're staying further south but Steve did mention popping into Bristol at some point so I will ask him :) It would be lovely to come and see you!! We're going to Longleat too and on a steam railway, it should be good! I'm really looking forward to it :)

Oh, and I hope toddler group goes well! Freyja sounds so sweet! Roh sounds like he's been a superstar too!! I can't believe she's a month old already! Those early days they grow SO fast . . . . I remember when as soon as something had been worn and washed it was too small :haha: I bought Oliver some new vests today (finally found 2-3yrs - in M&S :) ) and its so strange thinking they should fit him for a whole year, when his first ones didn't even fit for a week :haha:

Ooh Sarah are they still the poppered vests the ones from m+s you found? I really need some bigger ones. We tried Roh without vests and we have they big fun of being greeted in the morning by a little naked person holding a nappy proudly and a few little puddles! :haha: the ones that fasten between the legs he either can't or doesn't bother to take off!

Things efinitely won't ft Roh for a year, seriously I swear he grows like an inch a month!! He's so tall and has giant feet! Size 7 now, they look huge!
F is getting those cute rolls of chub on her legs :cloud9: Roh never did he was always so thin as a baby! Chub is so cute :)

Would be lovely if you get the chance to pop by, I'll send you a message on FB or something with my number ;)

Yes they are the poppers between the legs ones! They are nice and big too, and they were £10 for 7 which I think is great! Eeek at Roh getting his nappy off! :haha: I am pretty sure Oliver would try that too without a vest :dohh:

Chubby babies are so cute! My bf'ing advisor used to get excited over what she called 'elastic band wrists' :haha: Oliver used to have a growth spurt and get really chubby, then grown into it, so some photos from when he's small he's so chubby! Then a few weeks later he's grown into his chub :haha:

Def let me know your number :)

Xx

I have been trying to find vests that are in size 3-4 and have given up. I don't think they make them :( We still have some 2-3s but they don't really fit anymore and cause his nappies to wick. Hopefully if the weather stays like it has been today we won't need them anymore :)

Modo I bought some vest extenders which we are using. What nappies/wraps are you using that they have been wicking?

BG Organics they are pretty much our staple nappy along with a few Issy Bears. Vest extenders just end up getting lost in this house :dohh:

What night nappies are you using? I have given up on cloth at night as he out weed all our night nappies. Not thrilled about it as he get's a rash from sposies so I have to line them with a flip disposable insert and that really helps.

Modo we have the opposite problem, our washing machine broke down so both of them have been in sposies for about a week. Roh has leaked every night he never leaks in the cloth!
Overnight we use totsbots bamboozles with motherease airflow wraps. In the day we use the same wraps with easypeasy nappies (very cheap!) Stuffed with hemp or bamboo boosters. We literally never get a leak, and Roh does massive wees these days! :)

I have some bamboozles and the def leak for us overnight without a lot of boosting but when boosted the aplix won't fasten anymore :dohh:

During the day I have no problems no leaks nothing. I love our BG organics they last soo long!

Sarah don't beat yourself up hun!! Men just aren't as natural at it and probably feel a bit inadequate, I'm sure the lask of nicotine didn't help either. Thing is you can't always be there all of the time and he was fine and will never even remember. Will has had times when he's screamed and I've rushed home and not even been able to calm him myself. He might have been upset be he was safe and with people he knows xxxx

Wow emera, they both sound so cute and are really growing up! Size 7 is very impressive! I have been on the hunt for vests and got the next ones which are really nice. Will be funny when they are out of them, it'll be big boy clothes all the way!

Modo - can't offer any advice on the nappy front we are very lazy and have always used disposables, really not had any problems with them though.

Well my clever boy did a wee on the potty on Wednesday. It was a pure fluke, he did a small bit on the floor and so I grabbed the potty and he did the rest on there. He was soooooo chuffed with himself. He keeps getting on there and then standing up and clapping, even when he's done nothing! The funny thing was after the wee he was dressed and all ready for bed, sat on it again and tired to hard to pee he did a poo in his nappy lol!!!

I had my last day at work today, which was great but also a bit weird. Now it feels like the waiting game. A week early would be nice (although not the 13th as it's Will's birthday), that's assuming she turns around.......

Hope you all have a great weekend xxx

Modo we do boost the bamboozles i have the poppered version, they just do up still but we just use a nappi nippa on them as reinforcement! Personally though i think its the motherease wrap that does the hard work, they are fantastic!

LC - enjoy your maternity leave :)

Sarah - men can be idiots :hugs:

Emera - how cute f is starting to smile I love newborn smiles!

We went out last night with sil and her boyfriend. It was nice to get out and about :) even better was the lie in this morning as d and o were with mil and e was with my mum! Pure bliss! My boobs hurt from missing 3 feeds tho :haha:
