PCOSers

Well my Dr took lots of blood yesterday and going to get me sorted he says, he is not sure they will put me on clomid as there are other drugs more suitable to me but as I was under the specialist at the hospital when I was pregnant the last time he is going to refer me back to him and they will work with me and get me back on track... he was lovely, I feel very lucky to have such an understanding and open Dr, he just said we have no time to sit back and wait and its good that I am looking forward again...
fingers crossed things start to get back to normal cycle wise and start to ovulate...I did ask why my cycles had suddenly become so hit and miss and not ovulating etc when last year i came of the pill and all was ok, he said that is just how pcos works, sometimes it can take a while to take hold properly and in my case it seems to have taken hold this year... but its good to feel that they are going to help me, not just tell me to keep trying and be patient, which is what is happening to my friend..

hi thought id join you in here.

diagnosed with pcos when i was approx 14 after irregular cycles for 2 yrs.

been ttc for 1 yr now...only had 2 bleeds and 2 periods in that time. no idea if i ovulated or not. went to dr last week, sent me for blood test and hubby for semen analysis , but not guna get the results for another 5 weeks :( then i think hell put me on clomid......

how come some gps will prescribe clomid and some will refer you? how does it work?? do you take the clomid and go to hospital to see if ur ovulating or do i just try it my self.

Im under manchester pct! thanks xxx

Hi, did not want to read and run as I hate it when that happens to my posts lol,

My GP said clomid is not something they describe readily on the NHS and is more for use with fertility or private as it can lead to multiple births etc, he has used it on the NHS successfully but says that each patient he treats individually and to suit, he was talking about putting me on a different drug, a diabetes one, even though I dont have diabetes, its all linked to having PCOS I am waiting for my results, had them taken last week, but he never said I would have to wait 5 weeks :hissy:I was hoping to hear this week or next at the latest.. I think from what I remember, my GP said that they have to scan your ovaries etc before you start on clomid, but I could have got that wrong as I was a bit emotional at the time, had not seen him since I lost my angel in January and he gave me a hug as soon as I walked in so that set me off crying again.. I am in Norwich, so it could differ from Manchester ...

Hope you get your results sooner than 5 weeks as that is ages away...

thanks so much for replying. the reason its taking so long is for my hubbys semen analysis. u have 2 make appointments and thats only on the 25th june :( so didnt make appts till 2 wks after that. i had my blood tests the day after my doctors appointment.

to be honest its pretty obvious the reason, i have pcos and am overweight! but i guess doc just wants to rule other possibilities out :)

how long does it take if gp refers you to gyne/hospital?

sorry i meant i didnt make drs appt to get results till2 wks after semen analysis........

referral times differ around the country, some are really good, others can take a few weeks, when he refers you ask him what the waiting times are as he will know.

will keep fingers crossed for you all the tests come back fine, I am sure they will, PCOS has a lot answer for!

hi all just to update you - I am being referred to the local womens hospital (Jessops in Sheffield). Hopefully they'll put me on Clomid. Just got to wait for my appointment to come through so no idea when it will be.

Manchester1 - is it Metformin? I know they often prescribe that for PCOS - to do with insulin levels in us sufferers.

Just been thinking - I think I last ovulated in January, or maybe even last year - and that's even if I do ovulate.

CD100 on Saturday - i feel a drink or 10 coming on
xx

arghh!!!!! my hubby just went to doctors for his semen sample. his doctor said if i was trying for baby nd pcos sufferer i shud have been put on metformin straight away!!! hubby thought i was taking metform(im taking xenical) and told him i was. tried to reach his doc but now hes gone away. nightmare. so now i gota go back 2 my doc n tell him wat hubbys doc said :-( might have to change docs if hubbys doc will speed things up.

Chele, thats great news, hopefully your BFP will come soon :) Jessops is a great hospital, they helped my friend to get pregnat, she has pcos really bad and maybe had 1 period in 2 years or so, she now has 2 very healthy boys..

thanks Kiki!! Hope they can wave their magic wand.

manchester1 - i asked for metformin last year for my PCOS and they wouldn't give it me. It just varies from doctor to doctor. Hope you get wha you want though!

Hey, mind if I join?
Bit about me - diagnosed with PCOS 10 years ago and put on the pill. Been off pill for 5 years but only really ttc for 1year. DH has semen analysis come back ok and my HSG was all clear. Been on Metformin for about 3 months and had a regular 35 day cycle since taking it. However, my day 21 bloods came back as not ov'ing so I'm now on cycle 1 of Clomid! x

hey kstan. Looks like ur dr is making good progress with you and doing all the right things. ur chart looks like you def ovulated last month though. fingers crossed the clomid does what it says on the tin!! xxx

Hiya, yeh, I too thought my chart looked as tho I ov'd but no baby???? And we did go for it last month. My OH was amazed!!

haha i bet he was - thought all his birthdays had come at once.

Hmm oh that's weird then as temping is a really good way to see ovulation. well good luck next month!!

got clomid today and something to induce a bleed......doctor didnt really explain when i would ovulate or anything like that. just gave me 3 months supply at 50mg and said if ur not pregnant in 3 months ill have to nrefer you to gynea. he said when he was taught no one ever got metformin for ovulation purposes(even though i have pcos and overweight) so he wouldnt give it me. im considering buying some online.... :-S

i've wondered about that - i mean not sure what happens when you start taking clomid if ur supposed to take it after your first bleed because surely norehisterone induces a "fake" bleed.
I wouldn't take the metformin from online - can you change doctors? It doesn't like he's giving you enough information at all. I have to be referred to get clomid so am sure the hospital will be clued up, but do you have enough information from him on when to start and stop taking the clomid?

ok so apparently opks don't work when you have PCOS and I have already had positives on cd63, 66 and 82, but had a pain in my ovary for 5 hours and so though ah what the hell lets try another.

And it's the most strongest positive i've had from all my opks

Could it finally be?

Just so proud of this little line

Pretty please send me some babydust

Sorry I keep forgetting to post in here  Lol!

That line looks fab babe! Im the same, I cant use OPks either. I have the least sensitve ones you can buy online and I still get a line...its not positive, but its there and annoying, I wish it would bugger off

I really hope this is you oving hun :dust:

well all the other days I have done them I have either had a really faint line or none, except for the days I registered positives on FF - they were strong but not quite as strong as the control line, whereas this is mega strong. It surely has to be something?!

It could be something babe. You not got any EWCM or anything like that?! Ill keep my fingers crossed for you :dust:
