minuet - sorry about AF. Are you going to continue on 50 mg of Clomid or nothing at all this cycle?
More info than you probably want to know, but...
This cycle I'm just doing myo-inositol. There are a lot of study abstracts on Pubmed about it's success in inducing cycles/ovulation in ladies with PCOS.
I actually discovered this last summer, but my doctor had me take metformin so I forgot about it until recently when cleaning out my vitamin drawer. This spring I dropped the metformin and switched to a low carb diet, and recent blood work showed that my insulin was WAY better on diet change than it was on the metformin! So no more metformin - it never did help me cycle anyway and the GI effects are terrible.
Myo-inositol helps your cells with responding to insulin, and they have found that PCOS ladies don't utilize their stores of it correctly. Studies showed that by supplementing with the inositol, the PCOS ladies had a great improvement in insulin levels, which dropped testosterone levels and allowed them to spontaneously resume ovulation and cycling.
I'm really hopeful that with already improved insulin levels, the inositol will be all my body needs to get insulin back where it should be, and resume normal cycling. It can take a couple months to see a result, but I'm still hoping that Clomid will have "kickstarted" me and the inositol will be all I need to ovulate this month.
But we'll see, I won't be heartbroken if there's no big O this month.
I love to share information that can help people, so hopefully there's some ladies with PCOS who can read and benefit from this.
