Ace stories to wake up to, thanks for sharing. How is it after a c section LB?
After a c-section is kinda hard. I went to a friend's baby shower 12 days after DS2 was born, and that was pushing it. I probably should have stayed at home, but I didn't want to miss it. So you need at least 2 weeks to start to feel like yourself again. And then you're still not completely healed, it's just the starting point!
I learned that it's good to get up and walk around after the c-section, as soon as they'll let you. The healing goes faster that way. And keep the pain meds coming, don't let yourself feel the pain, because then it takes longer for the meds to kick in again. I feel like that really stands in the way of healing, because if you hurt, then you're less likely to get up and move around. The first c-section was harder, probably because of the fact that the first nurse didn't give me any pain meds for about 20 hours after my surgery. So I started out feeling a lot of pain and it took me awhile to get past it. When we got home from the hospital, DH left to get my prescription from the pharmacy and I was in bed trying to nurse DS1. When he got home and then opened the bedroom door, a cool rush of air came with him and the cold plus my sore breasts was almost too much to take. I cried a lot that time around. I remember sitting on the toilet and I couldn't get myself up so I had to call DH to help me. Not that big a deal for most people, but we don't go to the bathroom in front of each other, so I felt embarrassed and cried. So you might need more help than you think after a c-section.
The second time, I thought I had things all figured out, and it wasn't too bad. But DS2 really made me work for breastfeeding. His face was so little and he didn't know how to latch on, so we had to learn to work together. There were times I tried for an hour to get him to latch on and I was SO CLOSE to giving up, both of us were frustrated and crying and I couldn't imagine it getting easier. But it definitely does.
Overall, I think my c-section experience was positive. I would have a weird numbness at the very bottom of my back. Numb and painful at the same time, if that makes sense. It happened both times and I think it may have been from the epidural. But to be fair, there are so many changes in your body it could be anything.
Both times, after delivering, I would sweat and sweat every time I slept for weeks. I guess it was from the change in hormones.
