~~The May 2011 Roller Uppers~~

Zomo~ how scary!! I hope you're feeling better..

It SERIOUSLY sounds like pancreatitis.. which is something I've been hospitalized like 10 times for this year! the pain can be worse than childbirth!!!!

When you are preggo- your triglycerides go up and this can irritate your pancreas and cause an attack.. so even though your levels might not be through the roof to call it "pancreatitis".. the pain you're describing IS that. If you read my TTC journal and all of that~ I've struggled with this for YEARS and I'm actually seeing a specialist at the Mayo Clinic tomorrow as well... I'm PETRIFIED of having an attack again while being preggo.

Drink PLENTY- soooooooo important- one of the most important things- try and avoid fatty foods too and just don't let yourself get dehydrated! Try and take it easy and I hope you feel better! :hugs:

Thankyou Holly, I had no idea what the hell was going on, just that it was agonising. Am praying that it doesnt hit me again, it was horrendous. The scan showed my pancreas to be normal, not inflamed or anything. In fact it showed everything (kidneys, liver, pancreas, gallbladder...) in there to be normal which was not particularly helpful. Would have been much more useful if they had had someone available to scan me at the time of the pain.

I will take your advice and make sure to keep hydrated. I am going to be sticking to much healthier foods from now on, if the pain of the attack wasnt bad enough then being used as a human pincushion for blood tests was. Especially as I am terrified of needles, I was literally shaking like a leaf when they stuck a canular in my hand and nearly broke my partners hand which I was clinging on to and crushing so hard with fear he said he wasnt sure he wanted to let me hold his hand when I go into labour!

Zomo... how scary... glad everything is ok now.. will they do furthur testing still? I hope this does not happen to you again.

Your pancreas can appear fine.. that doesn't mean you weren't having a pancreatic attack.. I've had CAT scans and MRI's and nothing shows up- nothing except mildly elevated levels- yet I am paralyzed in pain- I just speak from experience. I'm a friggin expert on pancreatitis.. which I WISH I WAS NOT!!! Yes, gall stones could irritate it.. I know that isn't the case for me as my gall bladder was removed back in 2005- in fact- it wasn't until my gall bladder was gone that I started having problems. :dohh:

There are times when my levels are only "mildly" elevated- but I'm curled over in pain, can't move, can't breathe- it can get EXCRUCIATING. I was actually hospitalized 2 weeks before I conceived this baby.. I had surgery done around that area.. a sphincterotomy to cut the common bile duct to prevent it from constricting which is what causes the severe pain.. and they also cleaned out my common bile duct as well.

I had an attack RIGHT when I was miscarrying in February and it was terrible- I knew I was losing the baby- but should I take the pain meds!? Should I not?!? Did it matter at that point?!?! I was and still am very, very, very much afraid of having a problem in this pregnancy.

My attacks have been SO bad that I feel like someone is stabbing me in the front underneath my ribs and straight through the back at the same time and squeezing the tar out of me- I would never wish it on ANYONE.

I'm sorry you went through that.. pancreatitis and gall bladder issues do arrive more frequently in preggo women.. so just keep drinking and taking it easy and hopefully it was just a 1 time thing! :hugs:

ugh, ZoMo that sounds horribly uncomfortable! So sorry! Glad baby is okay though! Hope you won't have any more troubles!

So, my friend is coming over tonight to watch the Bachelor Pad (She's late thanks to her twins and husband) :) anyway, she's bringing over her doppler for me to borrow. I am a bit nervous to use it, in I'm not sure how I will feel if I don't hear the heartbeat yet! Glad I have an appt. tomorrow though.

Janell, I couldn't hear the HB until 14w3d or so. I am a thicker girl though. Don't be stressed if you can't hear it just yet. FXed for you.

Zomo hope you get plenty of rest and no more attacks

Dimples good luck with the doppler!

I know what you mean about not being sure zomo, hopefully we'll get some kicks soon! Sorry to hear about pain and hospital, sounds terrifying and horrible. I'm glad you are home and resting. X factor was hilarious but made me cry too!
Dimples, how did the Doppler go?xx

Aww thank you all for the sympathy messages, was feeling very sorry for myself!!

Holly, I am going to note down what you have said in case I get it again and can then suggest it to the doctors, it was exactly like someone had shoved a sword right in through my right side and then wrung out my insides in a band across my tummy like when you wring out wet clothes. Urrgghh.

Dimples, how did you get on with the doppler? I am waiting for one to arrive which I have bought off ebay. Cant decide if I will be more reassured or terrified by it as it takes the doctors and midwives ages to find a HB so I will probably just panic myself when I cant find it!

Cornish, I settled down with X-Factor last night but reckon my emotions have settled down somewhat this week as I cringed more than cried!!

I have a :bfp: Yahoooooooooooo
Check my journal for details... on my phone... crappy typing skills on here... :) so nervous.

Massive congrats!!!

Zomo-how could the nervous man not make you cry! In fact I think it was his son and pregnant wife that made me cry!x

Mememe, YAAAYYYY!!!! Fabulous news, congrats!!!!!!

Cornish, are you talking about the military guy? Yep he was very good, think I was distracted on my laptop when it was on in the background so I wasnt too emotionally caught up in it!

Congrats mememe!! Woo hoo!!!:happydance:

Zomo~ So sorry to hear about the problems you've been having! How scary! I have times where I have cramping in my ribs and chest and feel like I can't breath, but never that bad! Hope you feel better soon! :hugs:

Dimples~ I've only heard the HB once on my doppler and haven't been able to find it since. Good luck at your appt today!! You're just a few days behind me! I've said it before, but you need to start a journal!! Hope you are feeling better, too. Keep us posted on your appt! :hugs:

Mememe - Yay!!! Wow!! You are one fertile lady!! Any secrets to success??? Im so happy for you!! Are you straight in at the docs now for support through this pregnancy??
