And what were favourites?

Just starting to wonder about what to get my LO as it's his birthday in 2 months ...

My DS is two in April and we are getting him a trampoline and a balance bike. I read an article about wooden alphabet blocks being good for stacking skills, wooden trains and tracks for their connective interests and balls of different shapes and sizes are interesting and also help them learn to share with catch games etc. will keep an eye on the thread for other ideas x

I'm thinking of a balance bike too. I'm trying to only get two things as he got so much over christmas.

Trains are great, my lo has about 5 sets in total (brio and some cheap sets) if your lo doesn't have any I highly recommend. It's my LO's favourite.

My DS will be two in 3 weeks. We are buying him the Ikea easel (although it will be shared with his sister, as most of their toys are).. He loves my mums one so I know he'll be happy to wake up to that. We'll buy a couple of little openers too, but not sure what yet.
My sister is taking him for a day out to Build-A-Bear. She done the same for my daughters 3rd birthday last week. X

Yeah I'm trying to keep to outside toys for the big ones and a couple of openers as Amy says .

Just realised I put balls of different shapes! I meant different materials lol :haha:

Dylan got a toy kitchen which he ADORES!

We got him a balance bike a while ago and he still doesn't get it!

My LO is 2 next week and we've got him an Ikea easel and about 3 Wow toys. I feel like I should get him more but he was so overwhelmed at Xmas with presents that I don't think, at this age, he will notice or care about how much he gets.

I know he's also getting a shopping basket and food, some puzzles and playmobil 123 stuff from other people. Oh and he's getting some more stuff for his kitchen from a friend.

Oh, further to a thread I started the other day, I will probably get him so craft bits as well.

We got the ikea kitchen and that was it. I wasn't trying to be mean but presents overwhelm her so so easily it becomes a total nightmare rather than a good thing. So I just bought the kitchen itself and some pans, and it was a massive massive hit. Over time we have added some toy food and so on but it definitely wasn't missed on the day. I also got her some books just so she could have something wrapped but that's hardly a very inspired present lol . X

My los bday isn't until August but I can help but plan ahead lol.

We are going for the Ikea play kitchen which I am going to paint and decorate. Some accessorise for said kitchen, a balance bike and an easel. Those will be her big pressies and will prob just pick up a few new books puzzles etc if and when I see them.

Was going to get a lovely wooden dolls house but that will be saved until Christmas I think!

We gave LO the Ikea kitchen for Christmas. Like others have said - massive hit! He loves it.

My kids' birthdays are both in the summer, so I tend to get summery gifts when I can. DS2 got a bunch of sandbox toys and water toys for the water table for his 2nd birthday this past summer, all of which he LOVED. He also got a small indoor trampoline for the play room. It's kind of a hit or miss purchase. Sometimes the boys use it a ton, and then other times it goes for weeks unused. Those were the main things; he got a bunch of small gifts from friends/family at this birthday party, but those were the main things that got used the most.

Yes I was considering some kind of water table too. It's tricky, we're immigrating a week before his birthday so might get the balance bike and water table shipped and get him something I can take on the flight. The big gifts will not be there for his birthday though.

So if anyone has some smaller things that come to mind?

Definitely getting him a Buzz lightyear.

Does he actually like Buzz, and want this? I only ask because I bought my kids Buzz and woody thinking they'd love it, because "I" love Toy story...yeah, they never played with them. They were really expensive, too, so just thought I'd throw that out there to make sure its an actual interest for him, and not just something you like and hope he does too. I learned that the expensive way, lol.

ETA: Definitely do the water table if you don't have one. Seriously one of our best purchases ever for the boys. They literally play with it every single day in the summer, and my oldest is now 4.

I got him one for Christmas thinking he'd really like it, then didn't give it to him as I thought maybe he is too young and my nephew is 4 so gave it to him for Christmas. Anyways .... we went to Harrods (it's like a department store here) a few days before Christmas and be ran up to the buzz toy picked it up and was absolutely fascinated by it. Needless to say I felt like crap for giving his away :haha:

Awe, hate when that happens! LOL

Ds got a kitchen, balance bike and trampoline as his main presents.

My two got Buzz and Woody for Christmas too and they've sat in the toy box since Boxing Day!

I've decided now on a balance bike, water table and Buzz ... to ease my guilt.

As you can see from my avatar. My OH even took a pic of the guilt on my face.

<<<<< :haha:

Lego duplo, smart Max magnets, and a fancy small xylophon(the cheap ones are so annoying and sound like cans)
