How do you know when your LO is ready to go on to the next nipple?? Max is still using the ones for newborns. Is there a way to tell when they are ready to switch....or do you just try and see??:dohh:

When he seems like he isn't getting the milk quickly enough/isn't satisfied and is getting a bit annoyed trying to get the milk from the teat. I don't think just trying it is the best idea as it depends on your baby. The teats have ages on them, but my little girl stayed on the first/second teat for a long time past *recommended*.

I switched to medium flow just recently because Elyse was sucking so hard on the slow flow that the nipple would kind of collapse and she'd get frustrated trying to get the formula. She was really gulping and getting a lot of air.. and I found she did better on the Dr. Brown bottles I bought that were a faster flow.. so that did it, I switched all of them over.

I kept some of the slow flow ones to use for when I give her an oz or so of water now and then, it's not as thick as the formula, so better to give by a slower flow nipple I read.

We switched on Sunday (at 9 wks 5 days) because she was constantly collapsing the teats and falling asleep half way through the bottle.

She doesn't collapse them now and she has less than half the wind she did with the No.1 teats.

Like Tasha tho, we've kept some No.1 for water as it flows faster than milk anyway.
