30-somethings TTC #1 Testing and Support Thread!

How's everyone doing today? For those in the US, any 4th plans? I'll be volunteering at a fireworks tent Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. That night we are going to a bbq. I hope the weather stays nice.

I'll be going camping, hiking, and canoeing with my hubby starting tomorrow. Then we're going to his parents' house for the huge family fourth of July party they have every year.

So I'll be missing my BnB for a few days! I'll try to catch back up on Saturday or Sunday, but I don't want anyone knowing we're TTC, so having them see me on this site might be difficult to understand!

Oh, I hope no one in his family makes a comment about "when are you going to have kids"... or "it's your turn now"... etc. There are going to be a couple newborns there too, so it will probably be a little rough. I think I'll just stick with the younger cousins outside to avoid the topic as much as possible...... hmph.

LOL, that reminds me of this morning when I heard my Dad and his wife might be visiting, so i thought I'd better remove the OPK instructions and my pee-eggcup from the small room, then found my OPK strips filling up my bin in the bathroom with the HPT's falling out of the cabinet! It took a while to hide all the evidence!

That's what I'll be doing this weekend too as my sister arrives. Removing opk & hpks from bathroom, preseed, and all my tampons too (she thinks I am still on the pill and not getting AF) and both my & DH's vitamins also! Oh, plus all my million ttc books, and will have to wipe my histry on the laptop. Phew.

I'm not really sure when I did/will O this month. Wasn't able to test, but I'm estimating today is O day. We can encourage each other to not test early though!

It's beenquiet on here overrhe weekend! Cycling wasn't too boring - we did see one crash right in front of us Jaimie and it was gross guy crashed into the barrier and lost some teeth. Yuck.

Well I think AF is on her way. Feel bloated and sore boobs (the normal kind before you start your boob interpretation Squirrel!!). No cramps as yet.

Yuck, someone losing teeth in front of you sounds a bit disturbing! But glad it wasn't too boring. Hope that AF stays away!!!!! Fingers crossed xx

bw and jj I'm with ya - AF showed on Monday I hate to do this but I think I'm going to refrain from posting an August test date. I'm going to start trying to not be so acutely aware of my cycles, hence the lack of a ticker. Hoping it will make what has turned into a VERY long year + of trying into less of a trauma going forward. ug, I'm tired of being such a head case about all of this! I'm still gonna be checking in on here and rooting for all ya!

I'm so with you all on the hiding stuff! When people come round the books disappear, OPKS, softcups, preeseed, concieve plus..... When it's all collected I have quite a hoard!!

No July testing date for me, as we haven't bd'd because of the ICSI about to start. It's been interesting actually I noticed the same feelings I normally get every month but had never noticed them before we started trying for a baby.

I'm going to start trying to not be so acutely aware of my cycles, hence the lack of a ticker. Hoping it will make what has turned into a VERY long year + of trying into less of a trauma going forward. ug, I'm tired of being such a head case about all of this! I'm still gonna be checking in on here and rooting for all ya!

I am approx 2 DPO too, going to try to wait till Im on holiday before I test, but haven't figured out the logistics of hiding all my tests from OH's family as their kitchen (the hub of their house) is between the toilet and the bathroom!

Jaimie don't be silly it's apparently what happens at the Tour de France all the time. One guy broke his collar bone today so DH tells me. Not your fault - they are nutters for doing it! So sorry she arrived. Nothing we can say makes it better but if you want to talk we're all here!

No testing date sounds like a plan for next month. I think AF will be here for me tomorrow feel very pre menstrual. Think we may try tthf next month - cold turkey no opks or counting days or anything so may join you. We're off to the doctors if next cycle doesn't work.

I also am liking the "no testing date" idea. Picking a date kind of forces you to know when you're going to O and when you're going to test. Plus then we won't be encouraging ourselves to test early (maybe!) I also hate to see the stupid witch by my name every single month, which is why I stopped going into the other testing threads....


I did a digi OPK today, I don't know why, guess I just felt like POAS, and guess what! There was a freakin' smiley on it! I'm a little bummed cuz that means I'm Oing late again this month (CD19) I was hoping the Vitex would help bring it closer to CD14 or so....... oh well. guess it's a good thing that I know to keep going!

Ooooh, good luck Springflower! I am the same, I have a cupboard in my bedside table that is filled with OPKs, pre-seed and softcups! It’s funny to think that last year I didn’t even know this stuff exisited.

Yeah, I know what you mean Squirrel. Let’s say that anyone that wants to add a date can, but if you don’t want to then that is fine too! Everyone is part of the thread no matter what, I see it as more of a support thread than a testing thread anyway xx just do whatever you feel you need to do

I hate seeing that witch by my name too. The worst part is that when you know you O you know that you have to see AF by 14-16 days after. If you don't then you know you're probably pg and you might as well test. If you wait longer and then she shows you probably had a chemical pregnancy and even if you didn't confirm it with a test you know it in the back of your mind anyway. How pessimistic of me! I gave up on all but one other thread too. At least you didn't miss your O.

I love the idea of no test date. But, I'm not quite there yet. However, I am gradually moving my test date back. Last month, I tried to test on the date my AF was due, and no earlier (OK, I didn't actually make it that long, but I was certainly much better than months past!). This month, I'm not testing until two days after AF is due. That way, I'm not wasting more money on tests that I don't need, and there is no way of detecting a chemical again. I'ld rather not know. Plus, I think it will make AFs arrival just a little less of a let down.

I'm 4dpo today. I'm happy because I ovulated right on day 14 this month (I've been ovulating borderline too late, with only 9 or 10 days dpo before AF). So, even if it doesn't result in a baby this month, I'm hoping it's the start of a more stable cycle. I'm not super hopeful about this month, as DH and I only got to BD twice last week before I Od. But, you never know

I totally did this too! At first was testing about CD10...then when AF was due...now just tend to ignore it until AF arrives - I have saved lots of pregnancy tests this way!

That is great news about the early O - sounds like it will hopefully mean your LP is a bit longer! And hey, two BD sessions could well be enough!
