Beach Bump Graduates!

Sorry very quick update - had nothing much happening yesterday so went on a walk (or hobble) until my sciatica was so bad Greg had to get me home lol, had a bath with clary sage and that's about it. In the evening I got a load of stabbing pains down below and then at 11pm had a huge huge bloody show, never seen anything like it! Anyway of course got my hopes up lol especially when I started having contractions every 10 mins at 1.30am but they stopped after a couple of hours and so far today no sign again. I'm actually laughing about it now as its just got so ridiculous! Got a midwife appointment at 10.50 so will see if any progress has been made - my membranes have definitely gone but who knows if that means that the cervix has actually done anything! Almost everything I've read says that labour comes within about 48 hours for most people after a show so I'm still hopeful for a 14/15/16th baby. I'm not too bothered when now though as its just doing its thing and taking its time doing it! I can't do anything about it though so trying not to stress for now. Nice to wake up feeling like this rather than sad anyway!

Glad you're not feeling too down about it Hann. I hope the MW has good news for you today, I'm sure it's all doing something. I hope your sciatica isn't too bad now xx

Good luck today Hann, glad you are feeling better about things! I have a feeling about today for you....xx

Beento the mw, it's the one I hate - she had a student in with her, didn't introduce her or ask if I minded her being in there! Anyway she wasn't going to do another sweep or examine me at all as she said having the show was sufficient to show that the cervix was changing however I pushed her to do it and now 3cm, cervix has dropped a bit, thinning but not completely thin, and baby is fully engaged. She booked me in to be induced a week tomorrow but she fully expects me to go into labour naturally in the next couple of days. Thinking positively that its going to happen by the end of te week too. Going to have a nap in a minute and hope that this is my last afternoon pregnant lol

Ah Han with your show happening surely it will get going soon. I hope tonight brings more success!

Mel yes send us your sponsorship link :)

All go at the house. Had to collect Ajay early as he had a temperature. He seems ok after they have him calpol but poor thing they said he was really clingy.

Last week and this week we have had 'incident reports' about him as he has bitten people twice (other toddlers). I've no idea why he is doing it and I'm horrified! They say its normal and he will grow out of it :(

Thinking of you Hann, hope you're OK and not in too much pain!

Don't worry about the biting Caz, my friend's daughter did it and soon grew out of it, it's pretty normal I think. I hope Ajay is better soon x

Think it's happening but so paranoid that its going to stop so I'm not too sure. Been getting them since about 4.30 and around 5-7 mins apart. Manageable at the moment. Just hope this is it because if its not then life is very unfair!!

Exciting, Hann!! I'm praying for you and hoping baby comes soon!

Hann -- rooting for you! And fair warning -- I had an awful active labor with Maisie with intensely painful contractions lasting 2 minutes and 2 minutes apart (no break). But my active labor contractions really didn't feel different than my false and early labor contractions this time (every 5 minutes or so, about 1 minute long). I could talk through them all, even at 6cm dilated -- That's about where I was when I was posting here to you all through them, lol! I just got the epi because the nurse kept pressuring me (scaring me... And then the thing didn't even work when I needed it most during transition and delivery!). If I had gone on my own I'm not sure I would've gotten to the hospital prior to being 7-8cm dilated... and I went from 8cm dilated to delivery in under 25 minutes after my water broke on its own so... kind of happy I was induced this time!

Thanks all - still at around 5/6 mins apart and about 50 seconds long. Going to lie down and do a relaxation cd and try and get some sleep. Totally think that I'll sleep and they'll fade away again. Will let you know

Sounds promising Hann but you're doing the right thing by getting some rest. Hope it progresses for you in the morning xx

More than I can say for me, aargggh pregnancy insomnia! I am so itchy too it's driving me insane!

Oh no to the insomnia and itching? Why are you itching??

I've been asleep on and off since 11, had a few really strong contractions that have woken me up, the others are similar intensity to the ones I felt when I went to sleep. No closer together but at least they haven't gone yet. Not sure what's going to happen still, considering getting up now and having a move around to see if that starts things up now that I've had some rest. Not sure though, might just stay in bed and continue to ignore them. Whoever said that its easier and faster the second time was lying!!

Just itchy everywhere - I had this last time too and have only just remembered how annoying it is. It's a bit like restless leg syndrome. I got back off to sleep in the end but really don't feel rested. Gave Leo piriton last night as he was complaining of an itchy eye, which I thought could be hayfever, and he slept like a log the whole way through bless him.

Did you get up and about in the end? Maybe better to get more rest so you have energy? Sigh, they are so wrong about it being faster for no2 aren't they?!

Oh how annoying about the insomnia Simmy! I used to get itchy skin when I was pregnant too, it's so annoying. I hope you managed to get some rest.

Thinking of you Hann!

Well I've been eating horribly lately thanks to PMT and now AF is here my poor stomach is in knots (lol I can't believe I'm actually complaining of tummy ache while Hann is in labour!!!!! Sorry!!). I had coffee with my friend this morning which was nice, Naomi quite enjoys having her snacks then dozing off for a bit which is nice as it give us time to catch up. I'm not doing much for the rest of the day now, just waiting on news of how Hann is!

Can't stop thinking about you Hann! Really hope everything's going well xxx

Maria - lol, tummy ache is still bad! Hope you are feeling a bit better. Sounds like a lovely morning. You're lucky naomi naps at such convenient times! :)

I feel rotten today, horrid sore throat and headache. Did manage to catch up on some sleep though as Leo was at nursery all day... Am prepared for another night of insomnia... :( (but at least i can see how hann's doing!).

Simmy is on the night duty for Han - I love it! Poor you with your insomnia Simmy. I had terrible itching as well just before Ajay was born and straight after too - it drove me insane! I hope you rest up tonight and tomorrow.

Han- we're all with you, let us know your news once baby comes along!

Maria - sounds like a lovely relaxing morning.

How is everyone else? I'm off work tomorrow which is good so toddler group for me and ajay then not sure about the afternoon. Work is work - usual stuff and it's ok. We have a really fun weekend planned though - Friday night all of our NCT group are getting together for a massive sleep over at one of the families houses and we are wine tasting, then Saturday eveing I have a wedding and am staying out (woohoo!) in a hotel (boo, only a travellodge) for the night which will be nice to get a bit merry and have a lie in! The builders are stilll go go go and it's all moving along nicely and surprisingly, the in-laws and me and coping fine! x

We are battling yet another stomach bug :( its pretty tough looking after two pukey kids and puking yourself! Hopefully on the mend now though.

Congratulations Hann!!!!!

Hi everyone - Henry Edward Malone was born at 11.12pm last night, weighing a rather sizeable 8 pounds 2! I can see why as he's eaten a lot since he was born lol!
Had a pretty rough time, labour started at around 5pm on Monday but didn't get properly going until around 6am. We went to the hospital at 10 and i was 4cm, cervix was thinning and they admitted me. I went to the birth centre for my natural birth. I had 3 midwives in and out and a student dr and it really put me off and my contractions started to reduce and they said I might have to go home but when they examined me I was 6cm and cervix was totally thin. They said if they stretched it then it would have got to full dilation, but they didn't. I went for a walk and the contractions got more intense. Got into the pool and 3 hours later needed to push but my back was killing and turns out he was back to back and twisted. They told me to push anyway but after 2 hours I was dying of pain and told them they had to give me an epidural as nothing was happening! They argued it a bit but I was screaming at them and so they gave in thankfully. Had an epidural and felt loads better but then had to see the consultant and dr because they were worried about the baby because my waters had meconium and because they thought I'd need forceps and an episiotomy to get him out. They gave me an hour to rest then I started pushing and to their surprise even though he was high up he started to come down nicely. Within 35 minutes he was out! Small graze only to me and he also came out in a good position. So final part went really well.
He's been brilliant with feeding so far and he's had a nice sleep. Hoping to go home just after lunch.
Very happy and excited to have a baby boy!
