Beach Bump Graduates!

Afternoon everyone, hope you are all enjoying the long weekend!

Caz, re your mum in law i know exactly how you feel re your MIL as i felt like that re my mum, but we had a chat and it really cleared the air and stopped the awkwardness and insecurity which i was feeling. My mum loves Harrison so much and its so lovely really im just focusing on that. Luckily she lives 50 miles away but the amount i see her you would think she was 10 mins up the road! Anyway all im saying is dont feel bad, he IS your baby xx

BV, Lovely smiley pics! Harrison has started smiling now although its just the start and its sometimes hard work to coax one out, so worth it though, iyts beautiful!

Jenni, sorry you are having it so rough, i dont have any advice im afraid, except to say i agree with B Bear, dont feel guilty about the formula, a tired and stressed out mummy isnt good for anyone. Big :hugs: hope you get some rest soon

We are having a nice weekend so far, last night Harrison slept for another 5 hour stretch and we stretched it to 6, so 5am(we are following a sleep method where if they sleep for a long period for the 1st time then after that you never feed them between those hours again as they have proved they can go that long without a feed) He didnt settle very well afterwards though so Alan took him on his chest and they fell asleep together and when i got up at 8 they were still asleep together, so sweet to see!
We are putting Harrison in his cot tonight! yikes! its early i know but hes really growing a bit big for his basket and we wanted to get him in there before Alan goes back to work on Thursday, im a bit apprehensive about it but he is only across the hall and no more than 5 meters from us so it will be ok. Will let you know how we get on!

Today we have just been into town and ive just finished some cleaning. Alans turn to do the ironing so i am done for the day! yay!

Freckles I think it's 3 days in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer (then use within 12 hours once defrosted).

I don't leave mine in the fridge longer than 24 hours though. I don't see the point when I can pump fresh out!

Bec, i was told same as Linds....3 days fridge, 3 months freezer.

Thanks DM and BB. Am out thurs and wanna take a bottle (don't want to BF in my local chavvy town!) so will start expressing on Monday.

I never know when to express as Elliot drains both sides at each feed so have nothing to express after

Sophie goes back down for a sleep after her first morning feed so I do it then. After she's had a good sleep I can generally get 5oz out of the boob she doesn't feed off, and another 2 or 3oz off the other one. She'll sleep for a couple of hours giving my baps a chance to fill up again!

Thanks DM I'll give it a go after Elliot goes down for a nap, although he isn't doing a lot of napping! He's had about an hour max today!

Oh goodness Jenni I would have cracked a long time ago if I were you and given him some formula, especially since you're on your own. See how it goes but you will def feel better knowing it's there :)

Bec - expressing, I also read different things, but I once kept some in the fridge for 5 days and it just didn't look right, so I didn't want to give it to him. I guess if it looks and smells ok and you store it in the cold part of the fridge it should be ok? I try to use mine up in 2 days after my experience but yours could be different.

BV - gorgeous pics of Jill!

Hann - you brave brave girl going into town, well done and thank you for the tip to not do it!! I have been contemplating it once my 6 week recovery is done... But think I'll wait a bit longer now or maybe take my mum with me!

Mel - just saw on your fb that Harrison's in his cot - how grown up!

Afm, well the inlaws are still here and have been fab. The only problem is they are sleeping in the spare room so I'm not getting any nights off (as sometimes Paul will take Leo into the spare room overnight so I can get some kip). Anyway can't moan too much, I just got up from a nice nap while they looked after him :)

Also have been getting the most gorgeous smiles from Leo this past few days... Oh how it melts me!! :cloud9:

Evening ladies - well morning more like :)

RE: prams and trips to the city...have you thought about using a carrier? I am getting Hailey used to hers as I will be using it when we travel next month. She really likes it. It might be worth a try...

Mel, Hailey is in her cot tonight too...she has been in our room in a travel cot. She isn't too big for it or anything, but she hasn't been up during the night in almost a month so we figured it was about time. She can be very loud at times during the night (stretching etc.). So, I hope that Harrison and Hailey both do well in their own rooms tonight -FX

Jenni, I agree with the others, do what ever makes both you and baby happy...

Simmy, the smiles are fab, aren't they! Glad the in-laws are so helpful :)

Not much to report here - all is good :)

Hann, I tried to use the above link, but it didn't work. I had to change a few little things, but got it to work. You might have already told everyone this, but I wasn't sure...Anyone who wants to use the banner, you just have to change a few little things :

the beginning should be

Thanks again Hann for starting off the thread and for putting everything on the first page together :)

Am just up doing the night feed - was expecting to be up a lot earlier as Elliot went to bed at 8.30 which is earlier than usual but he woke at 4.30am so has had 8 hours! I was SO sore though, felt like I'd had a boob job lol!

Wow 8 hours, that seems unbelievable! Well done Elliot. Hope you get some relief now Bec! I guess he is an entire month older than Leo so I'll have to be patient for longer sleeps...

GW, hope Hailey had a good night in her cot. Fx...

Well I think it's safe for me to go back to sleep, was just waiting to see if Leo had another burp. Oh such a glamorous life ;)

Paul was meant to be on the night shift, and he's normally quite good, but today for some reason he freaked out as Leo had not only wet himself but somehow managed to wee all over the entire Moses basket, and cried for an hour while Paul tried to clean up and change him. I managed to sleep through the whole thing! I am like some of your OHs!! Lol. Anyway I felt sorry for both Paul and Leo so I stuck Leo on my boob and told Paul to go back to sleep, and then made L a big bottle of hungry milk to soothe him and fill him up, so FX we get a few more hours kip!

Thanks gw - I knew I had to change the banner to get it to work. I'llupdate the front page when I get home.

Can't believe hailey and Harrison are in their own rooms! Well done to them!

Simmy - you make me laugh that 'you are like our hubbies. Nice that you did the shift for Paul though.

Bec - so jealous - can't imagine an 8 hour sleep! Well done to Elliot! Bet you hope he does it every day now. My boobs would be heaving too, they are after 5 hours!

Had an okay night but a big projectile vomiting incident happened at 2.30am all over me, bed, her swaddle, muslins. It was a lot of liquid! Think she just has the nasty cold still. She has also done some phenomenal poops!
We are still at my parents but will be home by late afternoon. So glad it's a bank holiday so that Greg gets a day on his own with her as he has had to share her all weekend.
Enjoy the day everyone!

Simmy - hope you got Leo back to sleep!

Han - yuk to Annabelle being sick all over the place! Poor you and poor her!

I can't believe sone of our babies are in their own rooms already! Are they in cotbeds? Ajay has a cotbed in his room but it's massive and I can't imagine him being in it! The HV told me Ajay needs to be in our room for six months but we could squeeze the cotbed in but is it ok then for him to go into his own room?

Sorry I can't remember anything else, on iPhone as always!

AFM - family over today for birthday lunch. We have five days left with Neel before he is off to Spain for a wedding. He is away fir two nights so mum is helping over. I feel it's a bit early to be on my own for a night yet. I am dreading him being away really but it will be a good break for him I think x

Morning all.

Hann. poor Annabelle, hope she is better today, bless her. And hope you get some extra rest today too.

Simmy, hope Leo went back to sleep after his hungry milk, and poor Paul! lol

GW, Hope Hailey had a good night, if she sleeps through she probalby wont be any different.

Caz, hope you have a nice day today! Re the own room thing, i think whatever works for you, ideally i would have wanted Harrison in with us a bit longer, but not too much, maybe 3 months, its just he is outgrowing his moses basket so fast and our rooms are really close together and putting his cotbed in with us wasnt an option.

Well, Harrison was FABULOUS last night! i wasnt so much and got quite teary at putting him in his own room, but i actually think he prefered it, he waves his arms and legs about quite a lot and in the basket he didnt have much room to do that, he looks tiny in the cot but it didnt phase him at all and he slept from 715pm to 10 when we woke him for a change and feed. he proceded to poo and squirted it all over Daddy AGAIN! lol its like a machine gun! He then went back down at 1045pm slept till 215am, which was the worst bit, but Alan got up with him and they slept together in the glider till 5am when i got up to feed him, he went back down from 540am till nearly 8am which was fantastic. My grown up boy at 5 weeks!
It was weird not having him with us and especially weird in the evening as he is usually in his moses basket in the lounge untill we go up.
This is definatly better for us in the long run as Harrison is well on course now for a good sleep pattern.

Toady my parents are coming over, staying the night and we are all going to Hedingham castle tomorrow where there is jousting and crafts and a food fair type thing. Typical bank holiday fun! x

wow you girls are doing so well getting your babies into their cots, I've only just got Cameron out of our bed into the moses basket!! We've managed 2 nights now!

I plan to have him in with us til 6 months as per the SIDS guidelines but will play it by ear as he's a noisy wee thing!

Mel - do you have him in a grow bag now or do you swaddle him or tuck sheets/blankets in still? Just curious!

Ajay is getting long too so I don't think he will be far behind Harrison either. Also, he is really noisey when he sleeps so we will be able to hear him as like you Mel his room is just next to ours so we will be able to hear him loud and clear!

We had a cellular blanket over him last night but going to try a grow bag tonight as he is a wriggler! We also use a monitor so there is no chance of not hearing him!

Mmmm, might consider it too once Ajay grows out of his basket. I would miss him being in our room too but his arms are so long that in the crib he hits the sides and in the basket he is getting bigger and bigger!!!!

I might try Elliot in his cot soon - I did want to get a waterproof matress cover first to go under the sheet - does anyone else have one?
