Beach Bump Graduates!

Evening all, i've not managed to post in the past couple of days but have been reading.

Fi, Hann, so glad the babies slept a bit better last night. Your babies are sleeping longer than Leo who doesn't seem to go ore than 4 hours max without a feed. I'm grateful to paul for occasionally taking the night shift for me and letting me get some sleep.

Sherri, big hugs it sounds like you have had it tough - is there someone that can help you to just relieve you for the night? e.g. parents? You are so dedicated with the constant expressing, you're a great mum - hang in there it will get so much better. Colic (i think that;s what you call purple crying?) is supposed to get better at around 3 months so maybe it's just a case of another couple of weeks.

Sorry i can't remember the other news... am pretty knackered and had a really busy few days with visitors... Other than that i'm happy and well!

x

Morning everyone, hope all is well.

Simmy - hope your visitors were wonderful and that you get some rest tonight and feel more rested today!

BV - Jill is a great sleeper, 10 - 6! Wow!!!

Topaz - poor you never getting a lie ub. I don't know how you do it.....

Wez - yay for sleep for you too!!!

Been at my Mum's house for two days whilst Neel was away at a wedding in Spain and yesterday we were reunited as a little family at home. We really missed each other and the last two weeks we have been bickering loads so to have a couple of days apart really made us realise how special things are and it's wonderful again!

Ajay is being a good boy - continuing to go about 4-5 hours in stretches every night. I really want him to go longer but Neel is helping me to see that he is only 8 weeks old and is doing really well so far so we can't force it. I wanted to try a bath, bottle, bed routine but Neel isn't that keen and so we're going to wait until the HV comes next week and ask her - she told us before to wait until 10-12 weeks to try any routine so we have just been following Ajay's lead. And tbh it's not bad at all.

Problem is that Im such a light sleeper that Ajay wakes me as does Neel..... both are heavy breathers at night! So for the past ten days, until his middle of the night feed Neel has been up (usually until 1 am) with him and I have been in our spare room (the quietest room) so I can try and get 3-4 hours uninterupted sleep. I have the monitor on so if Neel comes to bed earlier, then I hear Ajay cry and get up and feed him. But I'm missing being in the same room as them both but can't sleep in there. I do the 2nd half of the night in there but my sleep is so distrubed. I hate being apart from them both, even if it's just for 3-4 hours but we have kind of concluded that sleep is really important right now so it's only temporary.

Has anyone got any advice? I feel very selfish but if I don't sleep its so hard.....

Sorry for 1 sided post.....

sounds like everyone is having a bit of a rough time at the mo.

my lo thrush still is no better after 3 and a half weeks of treatment for us both. we are also having over supply issues with bf so i am block feeding which is improving the colour of his poo so will hopefully have some affect soon.

cant join you all in the moaning about oh though as i dont have one, can join you in the being so tired bit though. josh is feeding every 1.5-2 hrs over night and then callum gets up at 6. wish i coul have a sleep in. really hope the block feeding helps josh to go longer between feeds in the future.

what treatment are you using? We had daktarin gel whichin 4 weeks did nothing except prevent it from worsening. Cam now has nystatin drops. I'm on 3rdcourse of fluconazole.Just wish it would go away. BFing on left boob is still really sore.

Sorry I haven't posted...but i have been reading....I can't believe I survived the weekend!! I worked for 3 days for 9 hours each day and brought Max with me! My job is cool and it's really relaxed and I work with all my friends so it's not so bad....but am glad now that I only have to go in for a couple of hours a day as long as things go smoothly there. whew! Glad it's over....it was pretty rough, especially with Max not sleeping more than 2 hours a time at night. I guess I should have expected it....my daughter was the same way. Oh well! What can you do except carry on.....

Btw.... I think it was simmy who asked.... P909x is a workout regime....I'm hoping it will get me back into my pants.....I haven't lost a single pound in 4 weeks....getting very discouraged...

Sorry your oh's are driving you all nuts....mine does pretty good. He doesn't help at night and I sleep on the couching the living room but he is always thoughtful and tries to help when he has time. Yesterday before work he took max out for coffee with a friend and was going to meet me at work with him.. (we work together) it was nice cause I got another hour sleep, but he forgot everything and I ended up basically leaving the house with another entire diaper bag! But you can't be mad cause he was trying to help! And my breasts were hard as rocks as i didn't nurse before he left...I thought i was going to explode! Good news....they didn't explode!

Went to dr's today, max is a whopping 5.45 kg! That's 12 pounds! Big boy! I brought Audrey with me to dr's and then had a flat tire there...that sucked...some days I just shouldn't leave the house!

Jenni - seriously you sound like superwoman!

Just been for a jog - made it back just before the rain started hammering down! Am so hot and tired now!

Well done for the jog Caz! You are far better than me - I'm not starting my exercise regime until next week when I have signed up for a class. Glad you have had a nice weekend and good to have Neel back. Not sure what to suggest with the sleep issues, I have to sleep with Annabelle as I feed her and do all the night shift, I've just got used to her random noises though sometimes it is tough as some nights she is noiser than others!

Jenni - I agree you are super woman! You sound like you are doing great and so are your LO's. I wouldn't have the energy to fit in the workout if I was doing all you are so I applaud you!

Simmy - good to hear from you and glad you are well. How is your cousin? I keep thinking of her and am very sad for her :(

We had a lovely time yesterday just sat in a beer garden with friends. For the most part Annabelle was a dream baby, she was content just sat on everyone having cuddles. I felt very proud. Plus I had pre expressed so was able to enjoy 2 big bottles of Magners!
It was nice! We had her in bed by 8.15 (she was super tired) and she slept again for 7 hours (yippee) and then for another 3 after that! Such the proud mum - she had better do that during the week!! Had a relaxing morning and sent Greg off to Waitrose to buy the weeks food so I don't have to (was going to shop online but he said he would go!). Annabelle is asleep but should be awake for her 1pm feed soon. She ate/drank so much in the night - 4.5 ounces plus then she came onto me for 10 minutes! Can you believe that!!

On a very random topic, my skin has been bad ever since I got pregnant, its not awful but I get breakouts on my chin mainly and have clogged pores around my chin and cheeks. Can anyone recommend a good skincare product to clear it? I've been reading a million reviews of products and its confused me. I thought about going to space nk or house of fraser but don't want to just get the sales chat and pushed into buying something expensive that doesn't work. Any recommendations would be much appreciated! thanks :)

we are doing it the other way round. had 2 weeks of nystatin and now 2 weeks of daktarin, that has cleared the spots on the roof of his mouth but his tongue is still covered. im really lucky my nipples are fine but im so fed up of having to treat him now and not getting any where.

Hann I am using whatever is to hand, for the moment its baby wipes and aqueous cream. My
Skin is normally bad due to the pcos and it looks ok. I think you can't do better than keeping it simple. It's hormonal so not a lot you can do. Caz while I'm not a huge fan of introducing a routine this early, I don't think it hurts to introduce 2 clear times of day. When we open the curtains and go downstairs its wake time, then after bath we dim the lights and turn the telly right down. That's rest time. Other than that we leave her to it.

Caz, we do the same - i just have to have paul sleep in the spare room during the week as otherwise i get kept awake both from Leo's grunting and from Paul's snoring - AND it means neither of us sleeps very well as Leo wakes both of us up. I'd rather one of us sleeps than neither. Can you and Neel agree a 'handover' or shift time? That way rather than having the monitor on and being constantly alert, you can properly switch off, even if it's just for a few hours. You can go to bed at 9-10ish, have Neel do the late feed at 1ish, and then bring him to your room quietly in the basket so you only get woken up when Ajay wakes up (i'm guessing like 4am-ish? That's sort of our system and it seems to work. Also seems like Ajay and Leo are similar sleepers and feeders!

As for routine, I'm finding Leo is in his own sort of pattern of feeding every 3-4 hours. In between, during the day, i let him play, cry and nap when he wants to. I do try to hold him off feeding too often as he's such a little guzzler that I think he would just eat all the time, then he would get bad tummy ache and suffer for it, particularly as he fights it when I try and burp him. Then he has a long stint of sleep between about 8pm and 12am, then feeds until about 1am, wakes up around 4am-5am, then sleeps again for around 3 hours til about 7am. This is all on a good day! Obviously he has days where this doesn't happen at all. I'm just hoping he eventually drops the 4-5am feed - that'll make my life soooo much easier! Anyway sorry for the minute detail - I always find it interesting to hear other people's "routines" or at least how their day normally pans out!

Hann - thanks for asking about my cousin. She's not doing too well apparently (to be expected) but i haven't actually seen her...

And sorry I can't help on the skincare stuff. I always use Olay total effects (different creams for day and night) and I love the stuff. I just make sure i take my make up off at night. Throughout my 2nd and 3rd trimesters my skin was great, but in the past few weeks it's become awful, not sure why but probably the lack of sleep and the fact i keep forgetting to eat fruit (i normally eat loads of fruit) don't help.

AFM - staying at my mum and dad's tonight. Paul and I decided yesterday that we HATED the colour of our living room. It's a kind of yellowy colour - gross. But it never seemed to bother us before. Anyway once we'd decided that, we had to change it ASAP. So Paul is painting it white tonight and putting some wallpaper on the chimney breast, so I wanted to take Leo away for the night so he wouldn't get the paint fumes.

It's fine staying at my parents' - they are great with Leo. But they tend to panic when he cries. I'm like, he's a baby, they do cry a lot. But my parents always think he's hungry and they get really upset when I refuse to feed him. He's my child, I KNOW when he's just being greedy/sucky versus actual hunger... So I end up feeding him just to stop him crying and then he pukes everywhere... Sigh...

Simmy thanks for your advice. Neel over slept last night so says he won't come to bed until 2 am so I'm going to be at ten in our room and he can feed Ajay if he wakes. Hopefully though he will sleep well and Neel can bring him to bed and we can all sleep in the same room. Fingers crossed! I will post in the night and let you know how we get on!

I think that Leo and Paul are like Ajay and Neel - Paul sounds really hands on like Neel and our babies are similar too!!!

Hope you have a lovely evening with your parents. I love staying at my Mum and Dads too - it is so nice to have the company and help.

Oh and as for routine, we aren't doing it really. We needed to bath him tonight (two poos today, stinky!) so gave him bottle. But we do the same - he feeds when he needs to around every three - three and a half hours and inbetween he plays, sleeps or has just time chilling on his own (or cries but not a lot as he seems to be a content baby!).

Yes I agree our hubbies sound pretty similar - both pretty hands on! I wonder if the novelty will wear off for them eventually? lol. And our babies def sound similar too - although possibly Leo cries a little bit more.. true to his name he has a lion's roar of a cry - it's a really ANGRY cry!!

Hope tonight goes well... x

My mom is watching the baby tonight! Wohoo! I wonder how much shenanigans my hubby and I can get into.

Wez I hope you had a good night!

And everyone else too!

Annabelle did her 7 hour sleep followed by another 3 hours happy days! Now trying to get her to take her first nap of the morning, she just wants to play! At least she is doing the night bit though!
Off to another nct thing this afternoon to meet 4 new people. Looking forward to it!

Morning all. I've had such a good sleep! Me and Sophie went to bed at 10pm and she slept through til 06.45 which was fab. She fed and went back to sleep til 10.30am so I went downstairs and pumped (supplies are back up in my freezer now which I am happy about) and did some laundry and washing up. Then once I'd got Harry his breakfast and had some dragony cuddles I went back to bed for an hour lol!! she's fast asleep in her basket again, lazy girl.... Got my period today but is very light. Think it's a withdrawal bleed from the pill. Ho hum.

Wez I hope you have a fab night! So jealous...... Would love me some shenanigans!!!

Linds that's good to know about Soph because Annabelle has pretty much been sleeping all day! I am really hoping she doesn't go mad when I go to this nct thing because that would be embarassing! She has barely eaten either - she eats for like 5 minutes then falls asleep again! Maybe a growth spurt?

Sophie is the same. They just get better at it I think. Others I have spoken to say the same. Because when I pumped this morning after feeding for 5 mins I only got 1oz out of that boob but over 5oz from the full one.

I'm so jealous of all these sleeping babies! I can't get more than 4 hours out of Leo and that's on a good night. He hardly sleeps all day. And cries a lot of the time.

Having said all that he is currently lying on his playmat, playing away, looking like butter wouldn't melt!

Hann I hope the NCT thing goes well - are u joining another group then?

Simmy - Ajay is the sane five hours max on te sleep. I saw one ofthe NCT girls today and her eight month old wakes once in the night so it sounds like it could last!

Han - have a great time with NCT group.

Linds - yay for your sleep! You deserve a good sleep, I don't know how you cope with two!

simmy cameron is like that. He sleeps well if we're out and about, epescially in the sling, but otherwise it's mainly crying.
How do girls get their babies to nap?
Cam will fall asleep on you but if you then move in to pram or moses basket he wakes up.

Hann how are you getting on with the homeopathic remedy?
