Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

Hi sjminimac & welcome :flower:

Spidey & Cleckner - K is the same as Kira and Emma in his love of boobies. He doesn't have a feed in the morning during the week but at the weekend we'll get up, have breakfast and then he is on & off the boobies most of the day. If we are out & about he usually isn't that interested. Sometimes when we are at home I can distract him for a little while but when he's determined... resistance is futile :haha: Its definatly easier to fob him off if I'm not sitting down. It crossed my mind last night that he may never self wean when I was just in from Zumba, hot & sweaty & my SIL was visiting and K was trying to self serve at my boobies and I was trying to put him off. I felt a bit awkward and it was nothing that my SIL did/said - in fact she said 'haha he's already tried for mine':haha: but I had a wobble and thought should he still be doing this so much?

I've still no AF. Oh, just realised its our 20 month milestone today....away to update my blinkie!

Welcome S! (I'm calling you S because your username is too complicated for me.)

Kaybee- I giggled at the part about your SIL saying he already went for hers. :haha: That's too cute. I sometimes have wobbles and wonder if Emma should still be so dependent on booby. It actually makes me feel a bit more 'normal' hearing that I'm not the only one with a determined booby monster at this age.

Yesterday I tried telling her no a few times but she is very insistent and freaks out if I turn her down. :dohh: I think I might try wearing t-shirts or something more high cut on my neck so she doesn't see cleavage. Maybe that'll help her forget what's in there. I don't want her to wean off completely yet but I really do want her to ease up a bit. I would like to get pregnant when DH gets back and that doesn't seem to be an option because she feeds so much and my luteal phase is all out of whack. I think if she eased up on the feeding than maybe that would fix itself.

:hi: Hi everyone, how are you all? I've not been around much lately; pregnancy is making me exhausted!

Missing everyone.

x

Emma also does the feeding a lot in the morning before we get out of bed. I am usually switching boobs like crazy trying to get her to sleep more so I can sleep more.

 you sound just like me. I'll flip over Kira a few times each morning hoping that a slightly full booby will have enough milk to knock her back to sleep :haha:

It's a huge relief for me to hear about other booby hogs. DH's aunt bf her kids until 22 months, so once I get to 23 months I will have bf Kira longer than all the "real life" moms that I know. Sometimes I think I should cut Kira's booby dependency, but at the same time I see a very well adjusted happy healthy baby, so I must be doing something right. But it would be nice to hear from other mom's that a hardcore booby hog will slowly wean by themselves overtime. Right now Kira is stuck between being a baby and a big girl, so I think thats why she likes to check in with me so often for some reassurance.

Perhaps when they get a little older, we'll beable to set booby rules, like "mommy only gives booby when its nap time and bed time" or something like that.

Cleck- hiding cleavage might help some. When Kira sees cleavage she's reminded of them :haha:

Kaybee- I love the term "self serve" :haha:

Hey ladies sorry ive not been around much for a while but im still here!

Hope you are all well xx

Cleckner - I don't think it would matter what I was wearing to put K off. And my SIL isn't the only female he's tried to latch on too. My mum, MIL, sister....most of my friends that he's sat on :blush: He really is boobie mad

I'm glad that you girlies have wobbles as well. Sometimes I think, right that's it I'm going to wean him and then when I really stop and think about it I'm not ready to wean him completely yet. It would be nice to just have 2 feeds a day though.

spidey - it is exactly like a self service boobie buffet. that's how I feel sometimes. We'll be playing with his toys or whatever and then the next thing he has my top & bra pulled out the way and latched on, 30 secs of sucking & then back to playing. To then decide, actually mum that was good I'm having some more. :dohh:

Anna - I hope you are getting some rest in. :flower:

Hi missbump

Hey kaybee!

How are you feeling Anna?

So many people I know are pregnant there is a real baby boom

Ollie's had no booby today, he was just as much of a Booby monster this morning, and he's had literally 1 minute of booby at a time 2 times today! He needs a nap but won't go unless he has booby! I'm exhausted today too, he was up for 3 hours last night, crying his heart out and then we watched Waybuloo and he went back to sleep (after 4 episodes) but I am shattered and I ned a sleep!

Could he be a bit under the weather? Thomas has gone off boobie in the past due to illness.

That's what I'm thinking, he's seettled down now, and had a bit, gone o sleep, it might also be because he was up most of the night too?

It sounds like it definitely could all be related. Sometimes they do just have off days too. I remember my older neighbour saying that to me when Thomas was younger and I was stressing about what was wrong with him because he hadn't slept most of the previous night. She was like 'stop worrying, you might never figure out what was wrong, he'll probably be fine today'. I was a bit put out at the time because I thought she was dismissing my worries but it turned out she was absolutely right, it was just an off day and I never did figure out why!

:hi: Little so n so bit me today. he just cut his second canine, so i assume that was the reason, but man did it hurt! I yelled, put him on the floor saying 'ouch! Not nice!' and he just ran off laughing. grrrrrr. I guess we've done well- only bitten me 3 times in 19 months. Can't believe it'll be 19 months tomorrow :happydance:

Hope everyone's doing ok?

Hey ladies, Im going to be hitting the 6 month mark in 20 days and wanted to join and get a bit of advise, I think LO is starting teething, now hes my 3rd baby but the 1st bf so all kinda different this time round, he latches and 5 seconds later comes off and screams for ages, ive tried the teething powder but it did naff all and ideas what else i could use when he wants to feed, also when he gets his first tooth if he bites how do i tackle that one ?

Thank you in advance :)

Hi xNov30x :flower:

Well done on your 6 month milestone.

I'm not sure why he would unlatch & start screaming?! Maybe some of the other girlies have experienced this. When K started biting my when he was cutting teeth I used to just take him off and put him on the floor saying 'no, don't bite mummy' and then offer him the breast again a minute later if he was still interested in a feed.

How is everyone else getting on? Not much new with us. I'm just back to work after a weeks holidays and I'm missing being at home with K

Well, I think I may have the start of thrush as I am having boob pain, major boob pain!

Oh no Jellybean. I've no experience of it but imagine it would be painful...I hope you are wrong. Could it be a bit of engorgement maybe? Do you need to go to the docs if its thrush? Hope you get it sorted soon. :hugs:

It's definately not engorgement, it's like a shooting burny stingy pain shooting back from my nipple into the breast! Yeah I have to go doctors to check! x
