Re: books. If there was one 'bible' book for breastfeeding mummies, what one would you ladies best recommend? My local library has zero books on BFing, but luckily the city one does... however no one had gotten them out for well over a year which made me kinda sad.

One "bible" book? I think I would plump for The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I got it when Alyssa was born, and I love it.

I honestly wanted to smack Dr.Lisa here, and I usually love her!

GO JIM!!! :D lol

Lisa pisses me off. The look she has on her face as if it's disgusting just makes me want to climb into the screen and punch the look off her face.

Great news AnnaBanana! I hope you get your BFP soon!

I was quite impressed at the positive spin on that video. The daft woman had her points shot down really effectively. Very encouraging!

again I see more men defending breastfeeding than woman in the medical profession than female, weird. And as usual someone has a prob.

hahaha! I want to punch her in the face too!! I couldnt believe how negative she was towards extended breastfeeding!

Ditto!

Exciting news here; we're now TTC!!!! :happydance:

Yay!! :)

I loved how Jim was very defensive... towards breastfeeding :) It was great!

I know, the women were a lot more grossed out it seemed... sadly :(

Anna- Yay for TTC!!!! I will be joining you in September!! :happydance: But we only have 3 months to catch the eggie before DH leaves for 7 months in November! So we have an unfortunate timetable that will make things much more stressful. Fingers crossed for you!!

As for the video- It's unfortunate that we have to prove ourselves to medical professionals even. As if it's not hard enough dealing with everyday people.

7 months? Where is your OH going? Good luck come September though!! :D

I know, I called my nurse today who is super awesome and she made me feel a lot better about things :) They were shocked at the doctor's office that Kayleigh has even tried solids... which shocked me! I said I plan to go until Kayleigh self weans and she said that was great :D She also admit she co-slept until 12+ months until she weaned her little ones. I don't co sleep but I have not a thing against it. Just made me feel good to hear it all :happydance:

you kept that quiet Cleck :haha: I think we are gonna start TTC in October 9i have a wedding to go to in September and i would like to be abel to have few drinkies without worrying!) - would be SO cool if we were pregnant together again!

Anyone else planning on TTC any time soon?

mum2J&K-My hubby is in the navy so he goes out to sea quite often. He's actually just now home for a week and than leaves again for the rest of august and a bit into september. :( So I'm mostly all alone with Emma.

Shiv- :haha: Yeah we've been talking about it more and more lately and I think we are going to just go for it. I don't have high hopes though just because I want it so bad so it probably won't happen when we only have 3 months to try. My first 2 pregnancies happened after only 2 months of trying but I highly doubt we'll have that kind of good luck every time. :haha:

anna- It really can get to be an obsession! I already have 20 cheapie pregnancy tests stocked up and waiting.

Hi ladies can I join? :flower:

I can hardly believe that I've been breastfeeding K for nearly a year. I remember when I was pregnant with him & DH being keen for me to BF & I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it! I think DH was so keen so he wouldn't have to get up to do night feeds! Thankfully K latched on right away but those early days were so hard & nobody tells you that - I'm sure thats why some women decide to switch to formula as they think it will be like that forever. I did. I confess to trying him with formula one night but it was refused & so was EBM. Guess he thinks milk should only come from a boobie :happydance:

It saddens me to hear some of you get a hard time for your choice to BF. :hugs: I've been lucky that the people that matter to me (DH, mum, sister) are all supportive. I'm surprised that some of the younger girls I work with hope to be able to BF when they get around to having babies. :happydance: I find that some of the older ladies that FF & the guys tend to say the 'are you still feeding him yourself' line! Followed by 'is he sleeping through the night yet?' :dohh: I can just tell that they think its because I BF. I tend not to mention to them that we still co sleep too! :haha: I have found myself saying 'he can get cows milk after he turns 1' I'm going to have to get some balls in a few weeks once K turns one and say 'we are self weaning'

Yeah I was going through loads of tests obsessed with thinking I was preg then well one day I was right lol

welcome all newbies to the thread, missed stuff going on in here! midwife was impressed I was still bf william, was nice to hear someone positive about it for a change around me.

yay for those of you TTC again :happydance. Me & OH are NTNP like we did last time... which is great in theory, because we used to at it like bunnies & fell pregnant with Harry after only 3 months (used condoms sometimes & other times not).... however this time around, we've only had sex once since Harry was born, lol, so the emphasis is on the the 'not trying' LMAO! If someone has any tips on helping get a sex drive back & how to stop feeling so ugly & cubby & unsexy, please share, lol.

:hi: to all the new people too.
