Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

Anna - ALyssa looks soooo grown up! :D Gorgeous!

Anyone got any advice for me please? I have co slept with Caine since birth, he hated his cot from the start and used to BF all night. I am getting him a single bed today and do you think I am silly if I put it in my room first as an easier transition or just go straight for his own room? I need to get him out so I get a month or 2 peace before the next one comes

Hope you all have a lovely weekend :D

i would try it in his room first and see how he reacts. we found LO had no problem changing rooms he just didn't like the cot. he did wake up crying for a few weeks, but was easy to settle back in his bed.
we didn't bother getting a bed, just the mattress on the floor for now as i didn't want him rolling out and i wanted him to be able to safely get out and come into our room if he woke up.

Hi everyone.

We are lucky enough to still be bf also :)

Rose was 7 weeks premature and had to be tube fed while she was in hospital. But I expressed as much as poss and when she was strong enough she took to bf amazingly and finally started to put weight on!
I am only feeding her am and pm now and trying to cut out the night feeds. Any advice would be welcome as i am knackered and going back to work:(

It has been an amazing and wonderful journey up to now though :)

jms- I've just started trying to wean Emma to her bed as well. I still feed to sleep so we bought her a full mattress set, and it's on the floor in her room. She never once slept in her crib(cot) so it was a waste of money. But anyways, I lay with her and feed her to sleep and than ease out and let her sleep on her own. I just started it the day after her birthday so haven't been doing it long but so far she loves her new bed. She climbs up on it and has a huge grin and bounces all over because she can't figure out what she wants to touch first. I haven't tried having her sleep in it at night yet but soon I think I'll try. For now I just put her in her bed for naps. But I don't have another baby on the way so have all the time in the world to ease her into this. Hopefully someone else who has more experience can help you. But I figured I'd share what we are doing right now. :haha:

 grumpymoo! Don't know if you remember me but we were in the august mummies club together. :D You know we still have our group in the group section if you ever want to pop in and catch up!

I have no advice re: weaning but I hope it's a smooth transition for you! :hugs:

18 month breastfeeding milestone today!!!! (Sorry, just wanted to shout about it and knew you would all understand best)

Happy 18 months my beautiful Alyssa :cloud9:

WOO HOO!! Congrats hun! That's am amazing milestone! You'll have to change your blinkie!! :D:D

Thanks honey!
Going to change my blinkie later when I'm at the desktop PC; it's just too difficult on my phone. Going to look for a lovely special blinkie too

Think I'll start a thread in the BF section too as I'm so proud and happy

Wow, HUGE well done!!!!!! You should be so proud!

I'm proud of William today, only up twice last night and only fed once - big thing for him! He woke up for the day at 6.45, kept feeding and feeding (don't think I had much there!) and then he came off and signed for food! Not even been showing him that sign, but he mimed eating, so guess he was hungry! Clever boy!

Think he wants to say a few words, he's reaching for keyboard...

I hate my lap top now, soon as i hit delete for a typoh it looses all i typed and goes back a page! and i make a lot iof tyohs so its not like i nver used that button before!

happy 18 month bf! williams was last week. I am so proud of him, when we are out and thers loads about he makes himself this social butterfly or something. There was a wedding in garden yesterday and lots where about, red carpet and all laid out so Wiliaem loves this red carpet anyway and does some modelling up and down it (he has never been taught that by the way!) just up and down looking swave and smiling at everyone. Then when people where coming from garden to yard he is waving at them all and when poeple leave in cars he is saying "see you later and waving them off" ! everyone was melting passing him and he got loads of attention! he was like some mini host or something. Then after meeting owners wife for first time took her hand and made he go where he wanted to, goes to show though he wouldnt go near my own mother and i seen him take to others right away! then was irish dancing on the red carpet , he could hear music from tent they had irish dancers and all in there (no expence spared here ) . Then directing poeple where to go like security! and didnt want to come in as usual. He is such a flirt! pulling eyes and smiles at the girls! he was near taken home by woman so many times lol

Thanks Cleckner!

Happy 18 months Alyssa! xx

Well i put the matress onfloor in our room and he got in it and went to sleep himself in it (BIG THING! normally I have to lie next to him!) and he was sooo excited as bedding was his favourite - Bob the Buidler :D He managed till the early hours in it so not great but not bad..... and on to tonight... thanks hun x

Happy 18 months Alyssa!! I hope I can get there :D

I hope I can get there too! Right now, I can't believe we've managed 7 months...it seems like madness thinking that it was 7 months ago that I breastfed for the very first time ever in my life!

Happy 18m Alyssa - what an amazing milestone to reach! And William's last week too! :flower:

Now that I've hit 12 months, I feel like 18 isn't far off. :D Do you all plan on self-weaning?

I plan to self wean, when ever he is done he is done. And will have another here, know it will be a bit trick feeling like a cow again but its not forever and can be done.

Do you have a 'weird' age where you feel like it'd be weird to still be feeding LO? I know that sounds dumb but I think I'd feel weird feeding a baby over the age of 3. It's like the cutoff point in my head.
