Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

Harry's a bit of a nipple pincher too, which is usually followed by him having a conversation with my boob, randomly laughing & then latching back on... strange little boy, lol!

Can't remember if I said, but I think I got my AF back last week (I say think coz it was just short of 2 days of spotting, so not 100% sure?) BUT, the good thing is that I think some of you ladies were right- I think some of my sex drive is coming back, FINALLY!!!! Hubby & I DTD last night for only the 2nd time since Harry was born & it was good, lol. Hopefully this will carry on & I can officially say we're NTNP now :happydance:

Another teeth question- once they get teeth, do you have to be more careful with their latch so you don't get accidently injured, so to speak? Or do they just instinctively know to keep their teethypegs out of the way, lol?

I'm wondering this too... ? I'm getting so worried about teeth. Kayleigh has been biting the last few days and it hurts, I couldn't imagine with teeth! <---- :haha: I love that face smiley thing LOL

Oh I tell you... I have been loving my OH more and more the past few days, like I can't get enough of him. It's been great! Still no AF here, but I could live in the bedroom

Emma started biting the week before her teeth showed up under the surface. I knew something was up because she started biting out of nowhere. So maybe Kayleigh's are on the way!!<---- Just for you. :haha:

And I've always been the same way about :sex: But DH is gone so my vibrator is getting plenty of use instead.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Flora- Yay for sex drive!!!! :happydance:

hahahahahaha It's just the best face ever! hahahahahaha

Ugh yeah our doctor said he could see them coming up, so I assume they will be poking through soon... <--- LOL :haha:

Oh it DH left now for basic training ( wants to join the Canadian Forces ) I would have to buy a cute lil toy, to which I would wear out in no time... It's  but I can't get enough

Once your DH is home we won't see you on BNB for a few days I bet :haha:

I got a book today, "the natural parent" parenting from the heart by Jan hunt. Seems good so far has anyone read it?

No but I am going to be looking for a few books at the book store here soon, need something good to read :) Let me know how you make with it.

Well her old name is MelanieF and the new name is MelanieAnn or something like that. It's not really my business I guess. It's just odd because the old Melanie was always in the breastfeeding section and had really good advice but kind of pushed it on people. And she'd always sign her name at the bottom. Now this woman is the same way. Kinda pushy with her breastfeeding advice and signing her name at the bottom. I looked it up and MelanieF hasn't posted since December so maybe she just forgot her login info and made a new profile. Again not my business. I'm just nosy I guess. :haha:

I don't have a clue as I haven't been a regular too long, but it could be. I know I almost forgot my info before, and I thought I would have to make a new one, but I didn't :)

Thanks for letting me know about banned members too hun, I didn't know I couldn't bring up names etc... so thanks :)

I'm kind of pushy with the whole bfing thing too  I'm passionate about it I guess... I bite my toungue A LOT though because I wouldn't want to be kicked off the site or anything, I like BNB too much hehe, plus I don't want to offend or hurt anyone intentionally, things just tend to come out of my mouth or from my fingers before I think.

My DH is really laid back about all. He knows I'm always on here researching and learning things. So when I told him I want to BF for 2 years and I explained the benefits, he just went with it. I don't know if he's just saying it to be agreeable though. :haha:

He really has no choice in any parenting decisions because he is gone so much so I do what I want with her. :haha: He thinks I'm doing an awesome job so I guess that's all that matters. I can't ask for any more than that when I'm basically a single parent.

Oh I have went through a few vibrators in my day. The one I have now is the one I've had the longest. It's true love. :cloud9:  It plugs into the wall. No fussing with those pesky AA batteries.:rofl:

Natural parenting book, makes a lot of sence from what I read so I know I will like it. Had my eye on it for ages when I read a review of it. Think you would like it, I got to give me confirmation I am not making a monster out of my kid and learn more.

Cops where here for darrens statement they arresting that fella on GBH as we speak, if he is there. But william was taking their keys and playing with them and all! wouldnt leave them alone. Was crying when they left and wanted a spin in their car. Not a shy bone in his body!

I'm always looking things up too, and Mark always listens and likes the fact that I want to BF as long as Kayleigh wants, and I even want to try and pump for her to have her own milk as long as possible too. I see nothing wrong with her having BM into her preschool years

LOL Those ones that plug in are the heavy duty ones :haha: and would be great to have since the batteries seem to wear out so darn fast in those things!! I think I need to go shopping!!!!!!!!! tee hee

I can't believe what happened to him! Some people! :growlmad:

hehe cute! Jake was the same when he was little, he wasn't shy at all! So social and fun!

I get that a lot... I'm spoiling her, she will be a brat etc..... because I don't let her cry her poor eyes out, and we snuggle and co-sleep sometimes since the whole seperation anxiety is starting. I think she is just fine, and will be more confident and happy as she grows knowing how much we love her and want to be with her.

Sounds to me you are doing a fine job with William  he is so gorgeous, healthy and happy!

Well the further I get in this book the more I see why I am the way I am :O its actually opening my eyes to the way I was brought up which was the cry it out way a lot. I dont intend to do thant on my son, i never did and I did all i done from when he was born on instict, never let him cry it out, no cots, and breastfeeding and much more. my mum gives off saying he will be this and that but i rather him be something I wasnt and something everyone I know is. he will be so much better than that and I will prove them wrong just like i am now and its not down to luck!

Darren was in hospital again ;last night he had to get ambulance he was shaking in pain, have given him stronger pain meds and sedatives and said they think he is brave with that brake as its realy bad.

My morning sickness is back? weird.

Well I hope your DH is better taken care of now and he heals up nicely. :hugs:

Do you know what your having yet? Or are you team yellow?

I'm glad they gave him stronger medication, as it sure sounds painful!!

Mine came and went with my boys, and it sucked! I would go a few days feeling great, and then BOOM puking all over agian

I hate hearing people tell me I am spoiling Kayleigh. I'm doing what feel natural to me, which happens to be good for her :happydance: and I think she will do just fine! I have been told you can't spoil a child under 3!

:haha::haha::haha: I think that is pretty cool too!

No idea what i am having and not by choice they dont tell here and I aint paying for sometihng I could wait 2 months on or spend it on sometihng else. I think its a girl though.

court case next week already! wow. so will be waiting to see outcome.

As for latch to prevent bites... I don't do anything different. Kira gets on there by herself and I just make sure she's close enough to the boob rather than pulling down in it, because when she's pulling down those top teeth leave indents!

My DH just goes along with what I say :haha: He likes that Kira is bf and he really sees the benefit of breast milk in regards to health and the overall happiness of Kira. Both DH and I were breast fed as babies- both over a year too! I think my mom stopped at 15 months when she got pregnant with my brother, and DH nursed about 15 months and stopped on his own. This was during a time when bf wasn't too popular so my mom and MIL were both brave women! As for parenting, the natural way of parenting (I guess thats what its called??) is how DH and I parented before we even knew it was a parenting style. We were carrying Kira, no CIO, exclusive bf, co-sleeping, etc... only later did I read something on the internet about it being classified as a parenting style and then looked more into it.

I didn't know it was a parenting style either, but it makes so much sense :) I love what I do :p

Hope all goes well Dragonfly, and awe, a girl would be so cute! Boys are awesome too! Any names picked out yet?

I have but tell no one :p not anyone in here i mean just my fam and friends ruined last names on me with william so i dont tell. Darren wants a boy but only because he will lock up a girl and be over protective dad! I mean really over protective.

Awe, family can be such a pain in the arse sometimes!

Mark can be very protective too, lol... especially with his little girl.

Hope Darren's feeling better soon :hugs:

Yes, the parenting choices we make with Alyssa fall under the umbrella of baby-led parenting: BF, not leaving her to cry, no rigid routines, gentle discipline, cuddling it out, co-sleeping (although we don't do this as she's such a fidget she'd kick us both out of bed :haha:) and so on. It's lovely to know that by hubby and I following our instincts with our baby that there is a parenting style that describes it

It was the same with us. We just sorta fell into attachment parenting without really knowing about it. I never planned on cosleeping but now love it so much I'm sad that it'll have to end soon. I knew I wanted to breastfeed but never knew I'd be so gung-ho about it. The thought of giving her formula makes my stomach churn. I had to do it for 2 weeks and hated it. I get so upset people saying 'and my baby has never had a drop of formula!'. Mine had to because she was so small and the doctor made me do it. I'm not proud of it but don't like being made to feel bad for doing it either. And I babywear just because its so convenient. Emma is a high needs baby and even to this day won't let me put her down sometimes because she likes being up high so she can see what I'm doing. When I cook sometimes I have to wear her because she is so fussy and just stands there tugging on my pants trying to get me to pick her up. :haha:

How can I have *just* found this group? Yeay!!! Today my son is 14 months and we have been bf-ing for 14 months after a very VERY rocky start (so technically he has been officially on boob 13,5months but I was expressing/trying since day 1)

Aww congrats on the amazing milestone!! :happydance:

I hear ya on the rough starts. :hugs: Mine was supply issues in the beginning. BFing sure is amazing though. :D

Hiya,
Can I join you please? My youngest daughter breastfed until she was 4, so I think I class as an extended breastfeeder :haha:
I'm pregnant again now and planning to breastfeed again.
Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Ceri xx

Wow 4 years!! What was that like? Well done!! :hugs: Welcome to our group too. :D
