Countdown to Canada

That's awesome the exemptions were approved so quickly! So glad that's sorted now. I. Can imagine how relieved you must feel.

Sounds like clearing and sorting is still going well. It's really great your mom is able to take the stuff out the house almost as soon as you've sorted it. Definitely helps!

I'm feeling releived on your behalf, you must be giddy!! I know someone who arrived in Oz last week (work related essential trip) flights cost a fortune and he's on day 5 of his incredibly expensive 2 weeks quarantine before he can do the 2 weeks of work he's there for!)

I love that you are enjoying your more roomy clutter free home, I've heard others saying that, just before they sell up!

Hope you're all having a peaceful weekend ready for another push next week. Xx

33 days to go.

Without going through my fabric stash that is left to see what isnt worth taking (ie solids) I was able to almost fit everything I havent already donated or plan to sell in one suitcase. My goal is one suitcase of fabric and craft stuff, so I'm nearly there really. Nothing is rolled or folded for space saving so I could probably swing it without culling anything. But I do also still want to bring snaps and my snap press so I'll have to do some culling.

Have so far trial packed 5 suitcases (1 of clothes, which isnt close to full but doesnt have any of DHs and my things yet), 2 of toys (which will be further reduced) 1 of books, and one of my fabric.
I can think of 2 more suitcases worth of stuff to bring off the top of my head, but really not too much beyond that. Keeping it to 10 suitcases (plus carry on) is starting to seem really achievable actually.
DH has the "we are allowed to being 14 bags we should being 14 bags cause we paid for them" mentality (which I admit is my default setting too - is it any surprise we have such a clutter problem) but I am working really hard on shifting that mindset and am determined to be intentional with what we bring and what we purchase or accept for free on the other end. "But it's free and we might find a use for it" or "but we have the space let's fill it up" wont fly with me anymore.

DH has verbally sold our trailer to one of our landlords children. They have agreed on $1000. He could probably sell it for at least $1300, but it might take a while to sell at that price and we still need it right up til we leave (and possibly right to the airport) so we'd rather a guaranteed sale that is flexible with our departure and DH had promised her first dibs a few months back when she was looking for a trailer to buy (dh said he was looking to downsize ours, but that we still need it in the meantime and she can borrow it in the meantime, which shes done once)

I’m glad that the 10 suitcases is looking achievable!

That’s great that your DH has managed to sell the trailer too with some flexibility attached!

You're doing great with the packing :)

I'm glad your DH has found a buyer for the trailer.

Had DHs coworker and partner over this morning who just had a baby (a week ago) to give them some cloth nappies. I had about 20 I was offering and she took 10 or so. What's left, along with some others I wasnt offering to give away, I am attempting to photograph to list for sale for $5 each. Plus a few I'll sell for $10 each (along with all the newborn nappies)
Also working my way through photographing and listing ex-stock from when I was selling nappies which I'll reduce to 50% off. Have only gotten 8 photographed though as the babies keep either a) running out of the yard and I have to chase them down b) climb onto the table I'm using and get in the way or just jump and wobble the focus c) steal the towel I'm using as a back drop d) cry and shove me e) tip the entire tub of nappies onto the grass.

I gave them water to play with to buy me time but the big kids took over the water play so it only lasted 10 minutes...

Now I remember why I was never good at the selling part and gave up.... lol

My goal this week is to get all my nappies and nappy supplies listed for sale.

Hopefully you can get all your nappies and supplies sold soon :)

14 suitcases plus 5 kids plus carry ons would certainly prove very challenging to transport and move around the airport etc. Even 10 will have its challenges. So although you have the space available should you need it, I think it's great you're trying not to fill it just for the sake of using it.

Fx'd you get all the nappies photographed.

Awesome about the guaranteed sale of the trailer.

I am picturing like you could strap the suitcases together with some sort of belt or bungee cords and pull a bunch together like a suitcase caterpillar

Haha I like it.

It shouldn't be that bad - it's the getting too and from the airports part that will be a challenge. The girls will be able to push the babies in the stroller (two umbrella strollers zip tied together lol) which means I'll be able to manage a second luggage trolley. We found it more challenging last time we flew while I was backpacking Jeremy (while pregnant with twins) and dh was on his own managing all the bags

sold the deep freeze today (not getting picked up until next week) for $200.

Photographed all my baby carriers and priced them up, and should be able to sell them on at very reasonable prices for $500-550... 4 wraps, a wrap conversion mei tai (that’s I made), 2 ring slings, and 3 soft structured carriers (a Manduka and 2 that I made). I hope they all sell before we go.
I’m keeping a ring sling and soft structured carrier (which may be useful in the airport)

Gave away my quiet book(s) that I made to a friend. That was another hard thing to get rid of,but sadly it is just way too bulky to consider bringing with us.

Have just cut out 4 more masks for Jeremy and 6 each for the babies (3 each muslin one and 3 each elephant print). I’m sure I’ve gone overboard on the number I’m making but they take such little effort to make (plus the Muslin sleeping bag I used made 6 masks, and a fat quarter of fabric - of which I had the same print in two colours - made 3 each so it made sense to just use an entire fat quarter and not leave a partial one) that I’d rather have too many than not enough.

Glad you managed to sell the deep freezer :)

Hopefully your baby carriers will sell soon.

That must have been difficult giving away your quiet books ❤️

Glad the deep freeze sold so easily. Fx'd the carriers sell quickly.
I don't think you can ever have too many masks. There's a good chance you'll be needing them in Canada in the not too distant future so even if they don't all get used during the flight I'm sure they will get used at some point.

Yeah but we wont need more than 2 or person after the trip. So no they wont likely be wasted, but if they aren't needed for flight/airport/transit to quarantine they wont have an actual need either (but their need is in ensuring that we dont run out of clean masks to wear, so still necessary even if they are unused :haha:)
The thought of putting a portable petri dish on my face gives me the heebiejeebeies - I dont understand people who can have just one mask which gets shocked in their cup holder or glove box between uses, or dropped on the ground even, and hardly if ever washed, and then given a warm moist environment for all those germs to breed in. Ick. And I'm pretty far from a germaphobe

You're doing a wonderful job with the sales!!
You're right that sounds like a recipe for legionnaires disease

I suppose it depends how often you will leave the house and how strict they are about mask wearing in Canada.
We have 12 between 3 of us and I keep nearly ordering more as there are often times we can't find a clean one to wear (and yes, we totally wash between uses).

Oh yeah I know you clean yours, and probably (I hope lol) most people do. But I've seen people be really gross with them  even my own brother, who works as a carer with vulnerable people, pulled something out if his pocket at the beach and a handful of disposable masks fell out and he picked them off the sand, shook them off and stuffed them back in his pocket saying "oops I need to use those again tomorrow"...

Masks are required any time you're out of your homes there still arent they? It makes sense that you'd need more than a couple per person. BC only recommends them in indoor public spaces atm (which granted, might change. Numbers not looking good atm) and it's up to specific stores if they require masks for entry. Other than weekly grocery shopping I dont see us going many places we will need masks for. Maybe a bit of shopping for things we cant find on bss sites.

OK, that makes sense.
Yeah, for us it's masks everywhere except at home.

Regardless it's a moot point as I'll have 66 masks so we wouldn't run out any time soon :haha:
