First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Hey girls,

Complaint Dept. Sorry. I'm still getting some days where bladder is totally uncomfortable and I feel like I have to pee even when I don't. Mentioned to doc and she said probably just baby sitting low sometimes and irritating it. It drives me crazy!! I was wondering if I should push for UTI test but it totally comes and goes. Yesterday was awful. Today is fine.

Are you guys experiencing any of that? I was expecting bladder to be much for comfortable in 2nd tri

Panda and Duster: LOVED the announcements!!! So cute and super unique!

Panda, how long has it been since the bladder is bothering you?
It might just be pressure, but you might have UTI, so I guess it doesnt hurt to check.

I feel my bladder very tight and full, but every time I go to the bathroom, it is actually full!
On Fri I felt super bloated and I my belly was huge! Check the pic below!

My mouth is getting better, but still feels weird! No pain, but a weird feeling on the "empty place" on my gum.

What I've been feeling very often is my heart racing and a little bit out of breath. Yesterday I was resting, laying on my couch, almost falling asleep, and my heart was super fast, as if I was running a marathon!
Anyone feeling this?

My cruise is this week!! We sail on FRI!! Can't wait!!!! need a brake so bad!! :happydance:

Had the normal constant peeing in the first trimester then it seemed to ease off in the beginning of 2nd but in the past 2 weeks it's been every few days that I've had bad bladder discomfort even when I empty and often lasts hours or even all day and night (like yesterday). I feel better today, but think I may call doc and have her check if it happens again.

I do get out of breath at random times even sometimes when lying down. Haven't felt heart racing so much as out of breath, but I def think that's normal because of all the extra blood we're pumping. I have been reading that we may also get dizzy spells starting around now. Be careful when standing up quickly!

Panda and Duster..I love both of your announcements!!! I love that it really shows your personalities. :)

Panda- I would def. get it checked out. UTI's suck really bad so it doesn't hurt to know one way or another. I mainly only have bladder pressure when standing up after sitting for a while and when I first wake up. I hope it gets better for you!!!

Pri- I am glad your feeling better, your such a trooper going through all that! I get out of breath so easily now. I have steps that go up to out apt. and by the time I get to the top my heart is racing and I'm out of breath like I ran 10 miles. lol Like Panda said, I read that the increase in blood can cause it. If it ever worries you I would just bring it up to a nurse/doctor. Have fun on your cruise!!!! Soak up some warm sunshine for me. :)

I feel like we are all starting to feel the joys and aches of pregnancy now that we are all pretty much at the half way mark! lol I noticed this weekend that I am just feeling super preggo. My belly is getting heavier, more movements, achy bones, peeing all the time, and soooo tired by the end of the day. I also had some clear leaking out of my left nipple....super weird but apparently normal.

I woke up every single night to go pee on the 1st trimester, then it stopped for a couple of weeks on the 2nd, but I am back on going every night for about a month now!

And yesterday and today I've been feeling very tired!

Can't believe I enter my 6th month tomorrow!!

Panda, how are you feeling today? did you call the doctor?

Hi Jules,

Well, I'm not sure if I am a trooper because if I knew exactly what I was going through, I most likely would have chickened out ha ha!
Glad the worst is finally over!

Oh wow, yes, I heard some leaking is normal, so cool and strange at the same time! :)

Still not much movements for me... he is really trying my patience! haha
Belly is definitely growing, though!

Can't wait for the cruise on Friday, but I'm a little concerned about the weather! I dont think it will be nice and sunny as I hoped, but I guess we still can enjoy!

Hope you ladies are doing well :)

Haha! I know what you mean. I hate hate hate hate the dentist....did I mention that I hate it? I know I have a cavity, but knowing that I can't do the normal pain meds I am waiting.

You will feel him soon. Some people feel earlier than others, but everyone is getting kicked in the ribs and kidneys at some point. lol

No matter what the weather is I am sure there are a lot of fun things to do!! :)

The announcements and names are so cute, everyone! I'm really impressed by those arrows, Panda. You should have an Etsy shop! Jules, are you kidding me with Orangeyellow and Cookie? I'm picturing their parents as cult members. I did hear of a kid named Fruit Stand once, but I found it hard to believe. Not anymore, I guess.

Thanks for the kind words. The last couple weeks were rough, but I started an anti-depressant and things have improved over the last few days. Panda, you are so right on about the small task idea and I wish it was something I had thought of before things got really, really bad. When it gets to the point where you can barely put one foot in front of the other, it's such helpful advice. I'm glad you're out of that sad place.

So my scan looked normal and it's definitely a girl. Feeling lots of movement. Dh got to feel a few kicks and that was really cool. Was it Pri who suggested shopping as a pick-me-up? We did for the first time this week and it was fun :)

Pri, oh my god, I am so sorry about the extraction with Tylenol only! I had a similar experience in high school and I can still remember how horrific it was. You poor girl! Have fun on your cruise!

Pri: Have fun on your cruise. You deserve a nice break after the dental pain! Sorry you are getting the tired feeling again. I bet the cruise will bring back some energy, though, you've been busy so relaxing and having fun will rejuvenate you. As for baby movement, I have lots some days and then I'll go 2 days with barely any. I guess that's normal at this stage so it should def pick up as we get toward third trimester. I've had a couple times when baby was going a bit crazy as I was trying to go to sleep and I thought it was funny, but I bet I won't find it as funny when it's every night! haha

AnnieMac: So glad you got a med that is helping! And very glad your scan went well! Did you get any pics? Also, "Fruit Stand" made me lol

Jules: I read about the leakage being a possibility, but haven't seen any yet. Do you have to wear pads in bra or is it very light?

AFM: Just schedule my breastfeeding class for Dec 16 and a hospital tour before that because we've actually never been to this hospital so it'll be good to know where we are going when we're in panic mode in the middle of a blizzard (knowing New England) lol. We're doing our birthing class as an online class because hubby's schedule makes that one difficult (it's 3 parts)

Baby movement is def sporadic, but had an awesome moment last week where I was looking at my belly and saw it move in a big wave from one side to other! Baby must have been turning in a way that just happened to show a lot. I was so excited I called my hubby! He was jealous he missed it and has since seen it move a a tiny bit when there is a big kick but nothing like that wave move has happened again yet that I've been able to see.

Hi Ladies!!

I'm back!!!!

Panda, how cool it must have been to actually see the wave rather than only feel it!! soo cool!!!!!!
Nice that you have some classes scheduled already.
I have the hospital / maternity tour scheduled for November 7. I'm still considering if I should take the other classes. The hospital tour is free, the rest you need to pay and the schedules are not the most convenient.

Annie: So glad you are feeling better and that the meds are helping you! Praying you will be back to the normal you very soon!

Jule: the dentist can give you the "simple" anesthesia to do your filling. It wears out very quickly, but he can give you another one later. And fillings won't hurt afterwards, so you should be fine! I would make an appt to have it checked out!

I finally started to feel something. It seems like some bubbles being popped and I weighed myself this morning, I gained 3 pounds in 12 days! (ok, maybe the cruise had something to do with it, but definitely he is also growing)
Cruise was good, but the weather was not on our side! Didnt even get to use the maternity swimsuits I purchased....

Duster, Fading, where are you?

Anniemac- Thank you. :) I'm glad things are improving for you, depression is a really hard battle to fight. Also, I'm so happy your scan went well and still a girl! I did a blood test that said girl so when we had a scan I was holding my breath and hoping she didn't grow boy parts. lol Girl shopping is so much fun!

Panda- It's just light ever so often so not enough that I need a breast pad. Yay for scheduling classes!! I have to get on that...this whole nesting thing can kick in at any moment if it wants. lol I have a slight blizzard panic too due to us having them the past 2 years the week i'm due. My hospital is only 15 minutes away, however I live in the country and its all windy back roads to get there. Needless to say I told my husband that I will be getting some emergency back up items at home just in case. lol So cool that you saw that big movement!!! Hopefully hubby will be able to catch it soon. :)

AFM: Nothing new for me. This week is hubby's birthday so I ordered tickets for Star Wars for opening night and at his request a new electric razor. lol

Has anyone done their registry already? I know some do it online, but I am just doing babies r us. I want the fun of hubby and I picking/seeing things in person. Some buzz about my shower is going around, basically the question of before or after Christmas. I would really like it before, just so we know what else we need to get ourselves.

Jules: emergency backup items! That's a good idea! I'm so in nesting mode. I promised myself I wouldn't start nursery until third trimester, but I already got paint samples and removed a wall bookshelf and moved all those books as well as cleaned out the closet in what was the guest room.

And my registry is almost complete. LOL Except my shower isn't until Jan 9 so I will probably have to go through and update/change some items that may be out of stock by then.

This is what happens when I have to take off of work for too long. I'm trying to find some work from home projects. Doing some freelance, but not much.

I used babyli.st for my registry because it lets you register things from any site. I have stuff from buybuybaby, babiesrus, amazon, etsy, carter's, etc.

Star Wars tickets! I totally have to get on that! I keep forgetting and the first 2 days are already sold out in IMAX near me.

Pri: Congrats on feeling more movement!! You'll start to notice it happening more regularly at certain times of day. For me it started most at night when I lay down and that's still been his busiest time. But def for me it's still been sporadic and some days it's very faint and not much action then others it's like all day! He seems to like when I go outside or when the kitten purrs on my chest.

hi Ladies!

chat has been quiet lately...

Oh no for the ones with blizzard scares.... it must not be fun!!

jules: good thing you are only 15 min away and God willing, you WILL make it there :)
Happy Bday to your hubby and I hope you enjoy the movie! Sounds like a fun date night!

Panda, you are too funny!!! Having everything pretty much done already! I wish I had half of what you have either ready or "in place"

I started my registry online, combining both Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby, but I actually wanted to go to the stores and continue / finish the list in person. I think it will be easier and funnier!

Also, Babies R Us offers FREE classes. The hospital wanted to charge me $20.00 per class. I will be doing them at Babies R Us. I registered for Breastfeeding on Nov 18.

My belly really decided to grow this week! I feel that i am huge!!!!

Anyone has already the appointment for that glucose test? I heard we should be doing soon.

I hope everybody is doing well. :)

I've been busy between work, settling back into normal life after our wedding/honeymoon, and starting to buy lots of baby things.
I have a good stash of clothes and cloth diapers now. And just bought a baby carrier and dresser/storage unit for the nursery this week. And within the next 2-3 weeks we will be buying our travel system.

Had a midwife appointment on Tuesday and she quickly went over my anatomy scan. Everything looks great and baby boy is measuring perfectly. Right now, I am considered a perfect candidate for a birth center birth which is what I really want. The midwife was even telling us that every Monday her and the other 2 midwives (it's shared care) get together to go over all of the patients and any important changes with them. And every time my name comes up, I just get a big check mark because everything is going so great.

I'm also starting to feel a lot more movement which is awesome. He loves to kick and wriggle about in the morning and anytime I'm eating.

Pri- We don't do appointments here for glucose testing, you just get a blood req. form and can go to any walk-in blood clinic to get it done.
I will be going between 26-28 weeks. They will be doing my glucose test, as well as another basic blood screening to make sure all of my levels are still good.

Sorry I've been gone for so long! I'm terrible at these forum things.

Panda: I definitely have some of that bladder feeling, but it comes and goes. I think it's just Bip sitting low. Getting kicked in the bladder is the worst part- I immediately feel like I'm going to pee myself.

I really need to get on scheduling my classes... I don't want to go too early but at the same time don't want to wait too long! Being in Wisconsin I am also concerned about the blizzards- but my birthing hospital is not the nearest hospital. I suppose there is always an ER if things get bad.

Annie: Glad to hear you are feeling better! Depression can be really difficult to deal with- I went through hormonal birth control-related depression in college and it was really hard.

Jules: I haven't had any leakage yet but heard it is totally normal!

Happy Birthday to your husband!

Pri: My belly has been growing like crazy too! I finally took out my belly piercing. I tried a longer barbell but it was still hurting so I just gave up.

xfading: glad to hear you are having more movement!

AFM: I have started a registry online for Target; I don't necessarily want to join any other registries because that is simply where I like to shop. MIL wants me to register at "more expensive places" but I am a budget person. I don't like feeling like I'm being pressured to ask someone to spend unnecessary money, especially since at the school I work at everyone treats me like family and has things to share :) I will be having two showers due to the enormity of DH's family and family travel conflicts; one will be right after Christmas and I am unsure of when the other will be.

I had my 24 week appointment on Tuesday and did my blood glucose screening. The orange drink reminded me of Sunny D, not as sickly sweet as I was expecting. Results were normal, but I do have anemia (even with my prenatals), so I have to start taking a slow-release iron supplement. TMI but she also told me I have bacterial vaginosis, for which she prescribed flagyl. To be honest, the antibiotocs don't seem to be doing anything- so I will have to call back on Monday.

We got a lot done around our house today. We harvested the remainder of our garden and so I spent the day blanching kale (I had 2 paper grocery bags stuffed full). DH and FIL cut down two mature dead trees in our front yard for the in-laws' woodburning heating stove, and MIL tilled up the garden. Winter is coming- makes me wish I wouldn't have let the fatigue get the better of me all summer...

Hope you are having a good weekend!

Hi Ladies!

Pri: I didn't know about Babies R Us having free classes. Great find! I already paid, but did some research with my insurance and it seems they will reimburse for the classes. They don't help out with breast pump, though, which is too bad. One of the more expensive things on my list.

The belly "pop" is quite strange, isn't it? I also feel huge all of the sudden. Seemed to happen so fast. Was reassuring when I saw older female relatives this weekend and they said I still look relatively small. I still can't believe how much we have to grow still. I'm already starting to waddle a bit when I walk sometimes and it's awkward to tie my shoes, but at least I still can.

I missed your bump pic before but it's so cute!

xfadingpat: wow, you have done some serious shopping already! we haven't bought anything big yet, but I've been keeping an eye out on craigslist and yard sale sites so I don't miss a deal. Getting a changing table from my sister-in-law and it's wood so we bought white furniture paint for it. Also got sample wall colors, but so far that's it.

Very happy for you that midwife is giving all positive feedback and your birthing plan looks like it will work out. That's great news! I think I have the same thing where my doc just gives me lab slip at next appt and I have to go in for testing whenever I can do it.

dustergrl: How far away is your hospital? I was looking at the maps and it says we up north (I'm on RI/MA border) are supposed to get a milder winter this year with warmer weather and less snow so that's good. It looks like Texas is going to be the one to get hit! So backwards!

AFM: I do think my bladder issue was just a few bad days of where baby was resting on it uncomfortably. Possibly combined with some bad constipation that may have caused irritation. I've been really good since then so haven't followed up with doctor.

Baby is kicking all over now and much more often. I even got some kicks close to my right rib and I can't believe it's really that high. Maybe it just felt like it was? So strange. Can see subtle "moving" in my stomach now and then when he's really active and hubby got to see some, too. That's the funniest thing!

Been doing some "annoying" tasks of figuring out how to add baby to my health insurance since I have it through my small business. They always make things way more complicated than needed. We're also looking into life insurance and making up a will since we hadn't done that yet. Hard to think about, but we talked about it and decided who would take care of child if something happened to us. Have you gals thought about that stuff?

Those are on my "less fun" baby tasks. Looking forward to starting the nursery next month.

Hi Fading:
good to hear from you and to see that things are doing well!
Readjusting to "normal" life is hard after a long vacation!
Having a growing belly should be harder :)
Great news you and baby are healthy and all seems to be going according to the plan!!
And way to go on all that shopping!

Duster:
Agree, you should do what you are comfortable doing and not doing things just to please others! if Target has everything you need and want, go ahead and just do it at Target. It will save YOU time and, trip to stores and probably headaches :)

Panda:
I just love how organized you are!! So cute!
I do have a standard life insurance with my employer, but had not thought about doing a will yet. It had not crossed my mind, but now it has LOL
I just had to do my 2016 benefits at work, and I did not include the baby. After baby is born, I have 30 days to include him as my dependent. So I'll have to set a reminder that I will have to do that in the middle of my maternity leave!

How long are you ladies taking for maternity leave?

This Saturday hubby and I went in person to Buy Buy Baby to add some stuff to the list. It is so much easier to do it in person versus online.
Now I need to see what we didnt add, and then go to Babies R Us.

My baby shower will be on January 9. And sorry for the long post, but I just have to share this with you all.

So I used to have 3 very good and close friends, but due to things in life, they are not as close as they once were.
On Saturday morning, after my trip to the bathroom, and trying to go go back to sleep, I started praying about the baby shower, because I couldnt afford to rent a place, and do all of it by myself, and I believed a host should offer her service, so I could not ask no one for their backyard, or to help me out.
Any way, I prayed about, and asked God for a place, a date, and some help.
This was Saturday 6am.

On Sunday, at church, 3 ladies saw me, approached me to see how I was doing, then they asked me about the baby shower and in a matter of minutes, 1 offered her house, and the other 2 to help with decorations and food! It was so amazing!!! An answered prayer overnight!! I was so happy!!! :happydance:

Just need to share :)

Panda- I hadn't even thought of a will or who would look after baby if anything were to happen to us. We do already have life insurance though which is good. Once he's born we just need to meet with our financial planner and he will add baby onto our plans.

Pri: That is awesome about the shower! I love when stuff like that happens! What great ladies to offer! That is true community. Mine is same date! It should be nice after the holidays. You said most of your family lives far away? Will any of them be able to make it?

I am not doing maternity leave since my job (I work on movies in props and set dec). We work project to project so we don't get paid sick or vacation days or maternity leave like a regular job. And my job involves a lot of hours (a normal day is 10-12hr) and sometimes heavy lifting so I had to take off work during pregnancy. Been doing some related freelance work from home, but I'm actually trying to figure out a different career path as I don't want to leave my kid with daycare for 12 hour days while we're on a film set. I'm hoping to be a work from home mom for at least the first couple years, but we are used to both of us working so it's taking some planning.

xfadingpat: you have a financial planner? I'm jealous. I find all that stuff so frustrating to figure out. Just trying to figure out how to add baby on to my small business health insurance involves talking to TOO MANY people.
