First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Interesting about the tests. I read about some, but I'm still confused about all the options. That's good info. I am still waiting for my clinic to fax records to my obgyn so I can get a consultation appt with the NP who will explain everything including which tests we should do. We are lucky in that our egg was CCS tested so we have less than 5% chance of downs or trisomy. However, the clinic said they still recommend amnio because it tests for other things and I want to find out about that before I do it because I'd really rather not.

Other question: Has anyone found anything that makes their nausea better? I seem to have it from wakeup to noon every day and eating snacks, ginger ale, water, sea bands . . . nothing really seems to help. It's particularly bad between 9am and noon (like right now!) and I've been close to actually being sick at work yesterday and today. Am I just having particularly bad morning sickness or am I doing something wrong?

Anyone else constantly starving? It is terrible for me- I feel like I want to eat the universe!

*raises hand*

I feel constantly starving, but also barely any food appeals to me.
I'll get a craving for one or two things, and those are literally the only things that sound good to me. Any other food makes my stomach turn.

Hope you start feeling better and start eating anything!!!
Although being hungry all the time is killing me! I ate so much yesterday and today I'm a little better, but going more or less on the same track!
Gotta keep lots of healthy things around otherwise I will gain 100 lbs

Duster, I am constantly starving!
Hubby is already thinking I will gain 100 lbs lol

me today:
1 cup of chocolate milk when I woke up (6am)
1 toast with cheese (8:30am)
small cup of Special K Cereal (10am)
some baby carrots with hummus (11:30)
wholewheat pasta with ground beef sauce for lunch (1:20pm)
small chocolate for dessert.

For now, I'm done! LOL.I've been starving since yesterday

Jules, I'm glad your ultrasound went well.
I think I am the only one that could not actually hear the hb. they told me it was 131, but they didnt play it. I am going to a different place next time, so hopefully I get to hear!

Duster: are you still bleeding? when are you going back to be checked up?

Stupid question: if I were to be expecting twins, the nurse would've seen already the 2 heartbeats, right? Twins run in my family, so I am a little nervous about that LOL

Hope everyone is doing well. When are your appointments / ultrasounds next?

Thanks for asking! :) Yes, I have stopped bleeding but it seems so random I don't think I'll have any idea when/if it will come back. Fingers crossed it doesn't! I have an ultrasound on the 21st to see how things ate going, and my 12-week appointment the next week. I'm not feeling super pregnant- the hunger and sore nipples are about it- but heartbeat was strong when I was in Sunday morning so I have to assume Bip is doing well!

Thanks also for the well wishes!

Yes, if you've had ultrasounds it's more than likely you would know if you had twins. I had a strange dream last night though where one twin wad always hiding behind the other so only one was seen until later in the pregnancy. Lol I know that's not even really possible!

Good!!!
I know it was hard to get pregnant, so in a way it would be good to have twins and be done with it, it will be way tooooo much work for us that have no grandparents living in the US.

Duster, I'm actually a twin, and of course it was a long time ago and things definitely changed now, but my mom found out she was expecting twins when she was 6 months pregnant and we were born on the 8th month! I cannot imagine what went through her mind hahaha

And my app says that hunger and weird dreams are normal at this stage!

Glad you are feeling better :happydance:

I think they are pretty good at finding the twins early now, but the RE that did my ultrasound did say it was easier we only transferred one embryo because "we don't have to worry about a twin hiding in there" so I bet they do miss them sometimes when it's early.

Sorry I have to vent about what just happened:

So the ultrasound went great and RE said numbers were all good.

Then the obgyn nurse calls me today and starts with "we were reviewing your ultrasound and the heart rate was a little low" so I immediately start to PANIC!! So BOTH clinics had said anything over 100 was great for the 6th week and I read a ton of websites that all say 100-120 is normal range for week 6 to 7 so this nurse is panicking me for no reason.

She finally says that "well, sometimes if the ultrasound is before 7 weeks, it's a little lower and that's normal" Well then WTF!!! Why scare the heck out of me??!!

But she won't make my consultation appt with them until the next ultrasound because they won't see you until heart rate is higher. Now I'm all nervous for NO REASON except that the way she started the call started butterflies in my stomach.

Panda - Ugh, stupid nurse making you worry like that for no reason! That's so frustrating. I'm glad everything is all good though. That's great that your egg was already tested. They have to do the blood test and nuchal translucency scan during certain weeks, so stay on top of them with getting that consultation appt. The blood test is around week 10.5-11 and the scan is around week 12-13. They have exact days but I just don't remember the ranges.

PriandRafa - Wow that's crazy that your mom found about you were a twin at 6 months! Didn't give her much time to plan at all. I've still been having the crazy dreams every night, but I've been sleeping better this past week. Not waking up in the early am anymore. But I feel more groggy when I wake up and it's harder to get out of bed, lol.

My sister said she had a dream I was having a girl, but my 4-year-old nephew said I'm having a boy. And I had a dream last night that my brother told me he thought I was having a boy. I have no idea though. My sister said at her 12-week scan (which is the nuchal translucency one I'm doing Aug. 3) they could have told her if it was a boy or girl. Not sure why they didn't - maybe her DH wasn't at that appointment or something. Crazy to thing they can sometimes see it that early! My friend who's 2 months ahead of me gets her gender scan on the 20th and she's so excited. Anyone have any feelings about whether you're having a boy or girl?

Panda: I'm sorry about this call! Some people shouldnt be in the position to call the patients, they scare you for nothing! But glad things were cleared up and baby is there and well!!
Try to be positive and ignore this just happened!
Some doctors (like mine) barely give you information, others, tell you completely unnecessary things.....

Ksquared: that's fun that your family already have guesses!
I actually just read this morning an article online about things we can do to find out the gender sooner. I might try 1 method just for the fun of it! LOL
Pee in a plastic up and then add 1 tablespoon of baking soda. If it bubbles it's a boy, if nothing happens, it's a girl!

I have a friend that found out the gender at week 12.
I'm having my ultrasound and blood test at week 11 on July 30.
Then I dont know yet, when is my next one to be able to find out for sure! But I want to know asap haha
I dont have a feeling of what it is, but I wanted a girl. Of course, I will love the boy just as much!!!:oneofeach:

FI and I both really want a boy. So I'm betting it's going to be a girl. :p

Panda- That is so wrong for her to cause you unnecessary stress! Just because something isn't the norm does not mean something is wrong. Just don't let it bother you too much, all is going to be just fine. :)

Ksquared- That's cute your family is guessing. You should keep track to see who was right from the beginning. :)

The Chinese predictor says girl, my dad's gf said girl, my brother says boy, and according to the heartbeat prediction its a boy. It doesn't matter to me, but my hubby wants a girl. He refuses to say anything other than she when we talk about the baby. Lol

Jules:
what heartbeat predictor? lol!!!
The Chinese Calender says it is a girl for me!

The Chinese calendar says girl for me too. And it was one of the only months this year that it would have predicted girl! That's what DH and I are hoping for. But of course a boy would be great too :).

Thank you gals for the support. I am so upset because I was calm and feeling secure and then she shook me up. I think I will still be a little nervous now until my next appt (on Thursday the 16th) but I have calmed back down a lot.

I started taking a betting pool with my husband and our parents and siblings as to what they think it will be. My husband can't decide what he wants to bet yet. My mom says girl and dad says boy. I want a girl, but I would of course be just as happy with a boy when it really comes to it.

When I first got transfer I said I think it's prob a boy but lately I've found myself accidentally referring to it as "she" so who knows? I haven't checked the chinese calendar one, I'll have to look that up.

Pri- According to the heartbeat theory, if the heartbeat is under 150 its a good indication of a boy if over 150 a girl. I've never heard of it, but that's what my dad's gf said. Lol

Panda- I'm the same way. At first I thought girl, just because I always thought I would have a girl first. But sometimes I switch and think boy.

So my parents are visiting and I found out they've basically told all my aunts and uncles which means several of my cousins already know. I'm a little upset with them as I did not want everyone to know until we were much further along. My husband is more annoyed as his parents can actually keep a secret!

I checked the chinese calendar and it said girl! Ultrasound is Thursday and I'm nervous about mmc even though I know I'm being silly, but the nurse put doubt in my mind. Everything has seemed fine, though.

Aw, I'm sorry they told a bunch of people without you knowing ahead of time.
My FI's parents did that as well. We hadn't told FI's Grandma yet as we don't see her too often, and he wanted to do it in person. But then we found out that his Dad had told her without asking us first if it was okay.

Sitting at home by myself on days off is not a good things... I constantly look up baby things.
I just made my first baby purchase today.. (minus the onsie I bought to tell FI).
A cute little white onsie with a Canada Flag on it that baby can wear for next Canada Day. And a white baby blanket, since it just dawned on me that it is going to be winter still when baby comes. We're going to have to get lots of warm clothing and blankets as we get extremely cold winters here.

Hummmm: I never heard of the heartbeat thing LOL
Mine was 131, so according to that, it would be a boy haha

Hubby will be happy!

How is everybody's hubby doing?
Mine yesterday asked me if we should already be preparing or doing anything

And when are you planning to spread the word to the world?

Panda: good luck on your appt this Thursday and relax, you will be fine! :hugs:

My FI is pretty laid back and last minute with things, so he thinks it's crazy that I'm already wanting to plan out things to buy and stuff. He says that he is getting excited for our first appointment though.

We plan on announcing to the "world" around 12 weeks.
On July 25th we are getting engagement photos done, and we are going to also do some photos of us holding baby shoes, etc. Then post those online as our announcement. :)

Panda fan - Ugh, I'm so sorry that your parents blabbed to everyone! So far only DH's mom told her sister when we specifically said not to tell anyone. DH was not happy about that and really let his mom know. But oh well, it was only a few days before our first scan. I'm right there with you about being nervous! I ended up buying a $20 Doppler on Amazon since I'm 3 weeks from my next scan. Also because any hints of nausea has been absent for the last week, and sore boobs have lessened too. And my mom was like "that's not normal" and then I had a mini panic and then she said "I meant not like when I was pregnant" - ugghh.

Jules - I've heard the heartbeat theory too, but then I read that a girl's heartbeat is only slightly faster at the end of the pregnancy and that it doesn't mean anything in the beginning. Still fun to guess, though!

Thexfadingpat - Aw, that's a bummer you had the surprise ruined for DH's grandma. I haven't bought anything for the baby yet but I probably will start once I get passed my next scan and my bump starts growing!

PriandRafa - My hubby is doing well. He's telling his best friend today, who he hardly ever sees but is in town this week so they met up today. He's been very sweet and supportive and involved so far, so it's been great :). Usually when he's nervous about something he avoids talking about it too much, and I know he's nervous about this big life change but also happy and excited. I'm thinking of announcing to the world (via Facebook) after my next scan so I have a clearer pic. The first one was just a blob!

Afm - I told my boss and two coworkers today! My boss was sooo excited and said just let her know anything I need, and she kept asking questions about how I'm feeling and stuff. And best of all, I said I was hoping that after the baby comes to work a couple of days from home and she said that would be fine. Yay! Also I was shopping with my mom over the weekend and happened to pass by the maternity section at Macy's, so we started browsing and I found a bunch of cute stuff for so cheap! I ended up buying two pairs of maternity dress pants and they were only $15 each on sale. And they look really cute and make my butt look good, lol. I don't need to wear them yet but in a couple of weeks I might not fit into my regular pants anymore. And the hair tie trick doesn't always look great unless I'm wearing a loose, blouse-type top. Symptom-wise I've still been feeling weirdly good. No nausea - just some constipation/diarrhea and gas as I've had the whole time, and some twinges and stuff. Plus my belly sticks out by the end of the day. Anyone else have their symptoms lightening up?

Hi ladies!

Ksquared, I've been doing the hair tie trick, but yes, it only works with loose blouses. I feel so bloated and my pants are tight on my belly already.
I am going to the mall to see if I find some cute cotton long skirts that I could wear now and through out the pregnancy.

My hubby told his co-workers. He works in a small office, so last week he told everyone. He excited and nervous at the same time. From my job, I told my manager, which is a man and he got so excited that was weird LOL, and I told 2 co-workers too. I wanted to wait until week 12, but I might just say it sooner.
Facebook I'll wait until August 1st, it is hubby's Bday, so I'll just post our picture.
I only bought the baby clothing we used to take our announcement picture, and mama here will first buy her skirts!! haha

thexfadingpat:
so cute you bought his/her Canada Day outfit!!!
And yes, for you it will be coooooold!

Panda: it sucks that your parents couldn't keep the secret, but when we are excited we just can't help!
My parents are on vacation in Europe, if it wasnt for there, I'm sure everyone would know by now!

AFM: my symptoms are so so.
I really haven't had much nausea, but since yesterday, I'm having some heartburn.
I feel some small crampings on my belly once in a while. Boobs are less sore, but still sore and big. I'm bloated and dont fit in my pants LOL

Next ultrasound will be on July 30, I'll be 11 weeks, then doc appt on August 3

Panda- Sorry that some of the family blabbed. I think there is at least one in the family. Lol I told my mom that she could tell people but no fb because we haven't told hubbys parents. Of course the next morning I have a huge congrats on my page that I deleted as fast as I could...thank goodness.

Fading- I say of you want to buy stuff here and there go for it! Its great to get things over time so its not a lot of money all at once. My hubby thinks I'm crazy for dragging him to yard sales to see if I can find some good stuff, you never know. :)

Ksquared- Good deal on those pants! So exciting that your work took the news so well and are willing to help you out a bit by letting you work from home. :) My symptoms have lessened a lot. I get nausea here and there along with sore boobs in the evenings for some reason. Other than that just feeling bloated.

AFM: Can I just say I am thankful for not having horrible symptoms, but I do hate pants right now. The bloat makes anything around my waist make me feel uncomfortable. Lol I am with pri and think I'm going to find some comfy dresses and skirts to wear until I can for into maternity clothes.
