First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Ksquared: Yes, that's a good reason to tell work. I am also an awkward liar so that was my main reason. It will be much easier if you don't have to make up excuses. Excited to hear about your ultrasound!

Jules: I'm surprised you are having increased appetite. I am usually such a binge eater and with the nausea even when it's mild or not there I just have little appetite and then I worry about getting enough food. It's funny how everyone reacts differently, but eating is good as long as it's lots of nutrients. Do you find you are craving anything? I've been craving fruit mostly, but I also find raw broccoli dipped in ranch dressing very divine. And ice cream! I think it's mostly just cold foods cause I'm running hot.

And as for the bloat you gals were talking about, I'm so with you. I've already been thinking about putting elastic waists in some of my jeans. There's a woman tailor in my town that I got a bridesmaid dress adjusted with and I'm wondering if she'd do that for me. I'm guessing it shouldn't be that expensive because I heard getting jeans hemmed isn't too bad (though I've never done it).

I spoke too soon. lol This morning nausea has been hitting me hard and I just forced down an egg with toast. I told my doctor last week I had no nausea and he said if it did hit to have a protein with a light carb..like peanut butter crackers or eggs and whole wheat toast. We shall see if it helps! lol

I can't imagine it would be too much, that is actually a good idea to check in to since it may be a few more weeks before maternity jeans are needed or if it works good enough you might not have to switch over. :) I made some makeshift button stretchers for my pants for the time being. I mean most of my pants fit, but are a bit tight for sitting down all day. I made them out of an old t-shirt so its soft.

Hello Heavenlyhails, welcome!!!

Panda, Jules, Qsquared, it looks like we are all more or less on the same boat!
Congrats on the ultrasounds and heartbeats, and so sorry for the nausea!
It has not hit me yet that much. I figured I cannot have an early breakfast (I wake up at 6am), so I prepare my little sandwich and bring it to work and have breakfast here. If I try to eat at 6am, I can't swallow it.

I am feeling hungrier, so I am with Jules, I'm eating more! and also feeling my pants are tight and also my belly is tighter, but I dont think I'm showing, this is just my lovely own belly LOL

We finally told our families over the weekend! IT was sooo fun! It was over whats app and Google talk as they are not in the US, but it was soooo fun! So glad we finally told them!

I also had to tell the branch manager from where I work last Thursday. I was coming back from my appointment that took forever, by the way, and he asked me where was I.
I went to his office and told him. He was so happy and supportive that I didnt even know what to reply LOL
I'm glad he knows now too, but I will wait to tell the rest of my co-workers and friends a couple of more weeks (if I can lol)

But is strange, I dont feel pregnant! I do have sore boobs, I'm feeling super tired, but since nausea did not hit me hard, and I'm not showing yet, I dont feel pregnant! call me crazy :)

My next ultrasound is on July 30, and obgyn appt on August 2

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Has anybody else been fighting the urge to not buy baby items yet?
I'm just under 8 weeks which I know is super early still, but I'm just so anxious to start buying things or planning things out more.

I look every time I am in a store w\baby stuff. Plus have been checking Craigslist. I keep finding awesome deals for cribs and clothes, but we don't have anywhere to put big stuff until we move. I told my husband that I wish I knew the gender now because summer stuff is going on sale...perfect time to grab things for next year. Waiting is just so hard! Lol

Pri- I am so happy everyone was so excited about the news! :)

Finally had my first appointment today! Got to see and hear the heartbeat, and everything is looking good!! Phew, what a relief. Baby looks like a little blob right now haha. Heartbeat was 160. I'm measuring 2 days behind what I'd been tracking, but it was so difficult to get a good measurement. At first all of the measurements were a week behind, but then she did a different angle and baby measured longer. So I'm keeping my due date at Feb. 9 for now. Next appointment is supposed to be at around 11 weeks but they have to call me tomorrow to book it.

Here's the pic :). Oh my gosh, it was amazing and the nurse practitioner was really great. I feel a little bad for trying to change my appointment from her based on a previous experience. She was so great and spent a lot of time looking at the baby and getting pictures. :cloud9:

Welcome heavenlyhails!

So happy for all the ladies with good scans and who got to tell their families!

AFM we told our families this past weekend too! Everyone was very happy, but we also told everyone to remain cautiously optimistic because of the bleeding I've been having. Of course, the MIL had to throw in the "I was beginning to wonder if you guys were going to have babies!" Way to make us feel good about waiting until we were ready to start trying, and then having it take 10 months for a bfp... I don't know. It's just such a personal decision for everyone and I hate feeling judged for how we handled having kids. I'm very glad we were careful and waited until we were in a positive situation to raise kids.

I hope that doesn't come across as elite or judgemental of others; everyone's situations are different. :hugs: Sorry for the venting.

Hey Dustergrl,

yes, people have no idea on the effect they actually have on us when they ask or pressure us about babies.

they dont know what we go through, they dont know our financials, and they dont know how hard it could be for some to actually get a bfp.
After a while I just started to answer "it is in God's hands. If He wants to us to get pregnant, it will happen on His time". But it wasn't easy!

Keep up the positive and hope we all can make it safely for all entire pregnancies!

My family right now is in cloud 9. My parents are divorced, so from my side we have 2 grandmas and 2 grandpas and from my hubby's side 1 grandma and 1 grand-grandma. And our baby will be their first grandchild for all of them, except to the grand-grand mother.. :)

Anyone feeling hungry all the time?
I already had breakfast and 2 snacks and I'm still hungry! Still 1 hour for lunch.....

hope everyone is having a great week and the nausea had gotten better for the ones suffering with it... :)

ksquared: Beautiful pic! Great news! Seeing an ultrasound is def a big thing even when it's a "blob" or as my husband called ours "a smudge" lol. It's such a relief to get to see something there! Then extra weird when you realize it's a life growing inside you and that you have 2 heartbeats right now?!

Heavenlyhails: Welcome! Do you have a due date estimate yet?

dustergirl: sorry about your MIL. I'm sure she was just trying to joke, but I tried for 4 years and had 3 failed IVFS while all our relatives and cousins and friends who got married around the same time or after us had kids so I very much understand how those comments can sting. Wishing you a nice healthy pregnancy and I hear spotting is common in a lot of cases with no bad effects.

xfadingpat: I'm a bit superstitious because of what I've been through so I'm still waiting to buy anything. Probably will wait until we know the sex and after the tests are mostly done. I was looking at our guest room last night which will become the nursery and telling my husband what I want to do to get it ready. He was smiling but rolling his eyes at me.

Welcome heavenly!!

Ksquared- What a lovely picture! So glad everything went well!! :)

Duster- I think people joke without thinking of how it could hurt someone's feeling. Just know that you guys made that decision and it doesn't matter what others say. I am happy to hear telling everyone went so well for you otherwise!!

Pri- I was super hungry til yesterday then all of a sudden everything just looks, smells, and tastes unappetizing...the first trimester is a confusing place. Lol

AFM- I had my first ultrasound today! :) I am measuring exactly where my doctor said I was which is 7wks 4days. Heard the baby's heartbeat..so amazing! It was 136 bpm. I'm keeping up the hope that everything will be ok.:cloud9:

Anyone else constantly starving? It is terrible for me- I feel like I want to eat the universe!

Duster, I am constantly starving!
Hubby is already thinking I will gain 100 lbs lol

me today:
1 cup of chocolate milk when I woke up (6am)
1 toast with cheese (8:30am)
small cup of Special K Cereal (10am)
some baby carrots with hummus (11:30)
wholewheat pasta with ground beef sauce for lunch (1:20pm)
small chocolate for dessert.

For now, I'm done! LOL.I've been starving since yesterday

Jules, I'm glad your ultrasound went well.
I think I am the only one that could not actually hear the hb. they told me it was 131, but they didnt play it. I am going to a different place next time, so hopefully I get to hear!

Duster: are you still bleeding? when are you going back to be checked up?

Stupid question: if I were to be expecting twins, the nurse would've seen already the 2 heartbeats, right? Twins run in my family, so I am a little nervous about that LOL

Hope everyone is doing well. When are your appointments / ultrasounds next?

Thanks for asking! :) Yes, I have stopped bleeding but it seems so random I don't think I'll have any idea when/if it will come back. Fingers crossed it doesn't! I have an ultrasound on the 21st to see how things ate going, and my 12-week appointment the next week. I'm not feeling super pregnant- the hunger and sore nipples are about it- but heartbeat was strong when I was in Sunday morning so I have to assume Bip is doing well!

Thanks also for the well wishes!

Yes, if you've had ultrasounds it's more than likely you would know if you had twins. I had a strange dream last night though where one twin wad always hiding behind the other so only one was seen until later in the pregnancy. Lol I know that's not even really possible!

*raises hand*

I feel constantly starving, but also barely any food appeals to me.
I'll get a craving for one or two things, and those are literally the only things that sound good to me. Any other food makes my stomach turn.

Welcome, heavenly!!

Dustergrl - Glad you got to tell your families! I'm sorry that your MIL made a comment that was hurtful. Some people just can't handle when they don't know all of the personal details of the people around them. I get it though. It's such a personal thing deciding if/when to have kids, and then the actual process and how long it takes, and yet having a baby affects our families so naturally they want to know. But you're right - you have to do what's right for you. Sounds like you were in the same boat as me - DH and I have been married almost 7 years and together for almost 13, so it's been a long time before we felt in a place where we were ready. And we've gotten those comments and questions a lot over the years! It's been so long that people stopped asking so much, haha. Glad your bleeding has stopped and baby is doing well!

Priandrafa - I'm so glad your family is so excited! That's got to be amazing to know that their first grand baby is on the way! You're so funny with your food habits, lol. But hey, your body is telling you what it needs so I say go ahead and eat when you're hungry! I haven't felt all that different with my eating habits, weirdly enough. Still not feeling the classic preggo symptoms. I feel like so far my body has really taken it easy on me, except for the gas and bloating. Everything else is still very slight. Yes, I would think if you were expecting twins either the first scan would have shown it or you would have been measuring larger than you thought. At my appointment, she made a point to say a few times that there was definitely only 1 baby. I'm glad about that because twins would be a challenge!

Panda fan - Thank you! Haha, a "smudge" is cute too. When I sent the pic to my sister, who's had 3 kids and should be very used to looking at ultrasounds, wrote back "I don't see the baby" - lol. I know it's so amazing and weird to thing that there really is a tiny heart beating in there! I wish I had a Doppler so I could check it all the time, but they're expensive and after another 9 weeks I'll be able to hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope (or so I've read).

Jules - What a cute little bean!! Hi baby! So glad your first ultrasound went well too. And that you're measuring right on schedule!

Thexfadingpat - Sorry for the food aversions. I hope it eases up and more food options sound good for you. I guess your body is really specific about what it wants!

Afm - We decided to go ahead with the tests for birth defects. I have to do a blood test in 2 weeks, and then an ultrasound on Aug. 3 to measure the baby's neck and chin to check for Down syndrome. I talked with my mom and my BFF and they both said that doing the testing helped ease their minds. And if it comes back with higher risk, at least we'd have time to wrap our minds around the possibility instead of being surprised when baby comes. Also it gives me another scan sooner so I can see the baby again! And it's all safe - only the amniocentesis has a 1/600 chance for miscarriage and I doubt we'd even come to that (not sure I would do it though). My next regular appointment is at 14 weeks, on Aug. 14. And then is seems to be once a month after that because I have Sept. 11 and Oct. 9 for the next ones. Can't wait for my belly to really start growing!

Sorry if I missed anybody. There's been a lot of action on this board the past couple of days, and it's awesome! I love sharing this experience with you ladies :).
