General Christmas chat thread!

I feel your pain! I had to get new school trousers for both and one new set of polos (M&S pure cottons ones cause the school ones are made of a horrible polyester mix), plus new school and new normal shoes for both. ACK!

Sucks doesn’t it, I wouldn’t mind so much but having to buy 3 lots right on top of Christmas is a killer x

Yup these things always happen when you have no extra money - if there is such a thing even lol

Always comes at the worst time doesn’t it, my oldest needs new school shoes but sainsburys had none and Asda’s clothing area is getting a refit grr!
I gave the kids one of the stocking fillers tonight, one of those foodie teddy’s that I may or may not have been influenced by someone else on here that bought them haha. We have had an afternoon for sure! Got a call to collect oldest from school as he hurt his finger, spent hours in a&e and it’s broken. So they deffo deserved a treat (youngest for being patient in the hospital as I had no one to come get him)

Oh no your poor boy! I hope he isn't into too much pain :(

Oh no !! Sometimes I think my DD2 will work out before DD1 but like everyone else I want to keep the magic for as long as possible and eventually go with the gradual approach !!

My DDs still fully believe and have no suspicious what so ever! Upto now .. I always say to mine it’s what you believe in your heart (not just tXmas related either) don’t worry about anyone else !

Aww god hope he’s ok and it heals quickly !

Quite a bit to catch up on.

Oh no Smartie. I would have said something like you shouldn't be snooping as maybe Santa won't send them all back.
My eldest had friends here for a sleepover and one told them Santa wasn't real. They're all 7-8. Fortunately DD and her other friend didn't pay much notice.
I did say that some children don't believe but they still get presents from their parents and family but maybe not one from Santa.
I'm not entirely sure if she believes or not but she seems too. It's the elves she gets most excited over.
She also asked me where I hide their presents from us so I said at my work (bosses house) when actually they're in a suitcase under my bed.

I think letting them work it out gradually and then feeding them another story about how now they know they're part of the secret is the way to go to avoid younger siblings finding out too soon. Mine are close in age so I think they'll work it out together. There is still so much magic around Christmas even without Santa .

School uniforms are soooo expensive. My eldest needs new shoes but I'm hoping these will last to end of term. Did you get anywhere with appeal Monkee?

Today we've been painting the hall, DH worked very hard so he is having tomorrow off. He's back to work Thursday so I think he deserves it (he works 6 then off 6) but has worked on the house every day and done a days overtime . I said this is my Christmas present and all he needs to get me is PJs, Slippers and gin ha ha

I had a right nightmare in Asda today. It said DDs unicorn was out of stock online but when I searched for our nearest store it said it was available in store. So I went there instead of Aldi and the guy didn't even help look. He just said oh we don't have it. There were teddy's but not the one I wanted. He was so unhelpful. I ended up coming home and getting the one in Amazon that was £8 more. It is nicer though, although DD wouldn't have noticed.

I've got a few deliveries and collections and I'm done. Still got to do DH and one thing for my dad. Oh and Secret Santa.

I'm holding off wrapping to December as once wrapped will be harder to store. No idea where I'm going to stash this unicorn. DD2s bike is in their garden playhouse (we've padlocked it) but I don't think a soft toy is a good idea.

Wow I've written a small essay there ha ha

I do not know of this Foodie Roo thing that you speak of 8-[

Hope his finger heals asap! It's horrible not being able to use a full hand :(

@c1403 I don't believe it was intentional. It just shocked me as to how DD2 knows it's presents and completely threw me off guard, I know she didn't touch anything. Maybe my storage bags were the big give away as she mentioned 'they're for Christmas stuff' before. Santa gets everything in our household bar family presents. If it is brought up again, I'll just have to go along with the " Santa's had to get us to pick and send off (for this year) and brings them back on Christmas Eve if he thinks they're a good choice". She's 5 and clearly too smart for her own good :haha:

We’re still waiting for an appeal date. It’s been submitted so far but no date has been set. We’ve had to accept the different schools until the appeal is either won or lost. I’m trying to hold out buying too much for her incase we do win as il be paying out for 2 uniforms for her alone x

Ah thtat's a ball ache! Are the schools strict on uniforms? Boths DDs schools allow children to have logo-less uniform to save costs

Yup, all strict especially the secondary school, they have to wear a blazer and sweatshirt... poor kids x

That's awful! Can you not make them aware beforehand? Could possibly let them get away with it before having certainty x

I’m going to call the admissions officer tomorrow. I’m still waiting to find out what transport will be provided and if an escort will be on the transport as my youngest is only 5 and I’m really iffy on her going without me..

Its funny but being close in age never made a difference with mine. There's less than 2 years between the 1st two, and just over 2 years between numbers 2 and 3. The ones I think will find out at the sane time are 3 and 4, and there's 3 and a half years between them :haha:
