Had a british couple in at my work yesterday

I say zero lol didn't know nought was British either?

yeh zero here too and im in Scotland as well.

I say Nought to three, size zero and if reading a telephone number I say zero.

I say nought to three. It's size zero. If I'm giving a phone number, I think I start off saying zero for the first one, then forget and revert back to oh. Bank cards are always zero. Numbers are variable, such as 0.05 would be nought point nought five, but 1.05 would be one point zero five and 37.0 would be thirty seven point zero. I don't know why!

I say zero to three (New Zealander with grandparents from Scotland).

I say nought to three. My dad would say zero though and he's Scottish.

I say the exact same thing :D

Quackquack, when I realised how inconsistent I was, I thought I must have sounded crazy. At least I'm not on my own now

Canadian and I say zero. English oh says naught. I had no idea when I moved to England what anyone was talkinh about when they said naught! !!

I say nought to three. If reading out a telephone number I'd say oh seven etc :) x

Another crazy one here!

Nought to three
Size zero
'Oh' for telephone numbers
Zero for bank cards
0.05=Nought point nought five, 1.05=one point zero five

And as another pp said- five, four, three, two, one, zero!!

Don't know why I mix it up so much!!

Yeah I say naught, it confused people in Australia when I was there too. I mix it up too. Quite often I'll flit between zero and naught when I'm saying a telephone number and:

0.05 - 'naught' point 'naught' five
1.05 - one point 'oh' five

Must be fairly confusing for people who don't know what they all mean!

Thinking about it more, I think naught is maybe just slang for 'nothing'? I also use 'owt' as slang for 'anything' i.e. 'do you want owt from the shop'

I say Zero, as with a Scottish accent Naught can sound like Not..........In fact, the only time recently I've head that word is in Brave! 'All for Naught'
