January 2020 Garnets

Red your little guy is such a cutie, thanks for sharing! Love his little smile. <3

Hi!

Red head - Beautiful scan photo!

Ashley - Sorry your having a tough time with this pregnancy, I had an irritable uterus with my first and was In and out of hospital, went into pre term labour set off by a water infection which was stopped at 23 weeks, I had steroids and was fully prepared for what would happen if baby arrived before 24 weeks etc but they stopped it and I ended up not going in to labour properly til 40+4 so fingers crossed baby stays put for you til term.

AFM 32+3 today, starting to get quite uncomfortable now and tired. Trying to keep working, sorting my horses out every day, organising xmas (which I'm in no way ready for!) running a house and looking after 5 children is really draining alot out of me at the moment. But it's got to be done, I have an occasional meltdown where I just get so overwhelmed and start crying then im ok for a few days until it hits again. Not the biggest fan of these last few weeks especially around such a busy time like xmas. Be glad when it's all over now to be honest I hate the pressure of xmas at the best of times never mind being heavily pregnant.

We are not in the same position financially this year as previous years so being Santa for 4 children who all still believe (oldest is 12 and knows santa isnt real but likes to play along) and expect the same as they have before is so hard. We always say Santa brings the toys and smaller things and we buy the more expensive presents but we are just really struggling this year to get the santa stuff before we have even started on the more expensive presents from us which they will be expecting. I remember when playing santa was so exciting for one or two children.. now theres 5 it's so hardwork lol!

Anyway bit of a moany post from me today.. on a positive note baby is happy and active and my sickness has finally started to ease off!

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Thanks all :)

Anababe you have so much on your plate! You must be a super star to juggle it all! Do you think you’ll stop working soon?

Hope everyone else is doing ok?

I went to a NCT class today which was really good. There’s 7 other couples in the course so it will be nice to form friendships with other mums and dads as we’re all first time parents and due around the same time. We did a NHS antenatal course earlier in the pregnancy and also are signed up to do a couple other NHS ones soon - is anyone else doing any classes? I guess as most are pros at this you don’t need to! :)

I tried to take a childbirth class many weeks ago and it was 100% geared to a normal hospital birth for 1st timers. Not good for people like me.

Ana - sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed with everything. Sounds like me (although at least I only have 2 kids). I definitely melt down quite regularly and feel like I can’t keep going most days. Being a mom is a lot to handle as it is, let alone while pregnant and during the Christmas season!
Sorry you’re tight on finances this year and won’t be able to give your kids the type of gifts they are accustomed to. We are definitely far more broke this year as well, mostly due to some unexpected expenses, and it’s definitely stressful. I hope you’re able to give your kids a very happy Christmas anyway and that they will appreciate whatever you give them, even if the gifts aren’t as expensive or as plentiful. Hugs!

Red head - glad you enjoyed your class! I only took birthing classes the first time around. This time around I’m not planning on it.

The kids wont know or care about a smaller Christmas, I'd get them what you can and just make it a great day.

Thank you all. Red, so cute! And so fun to see their little faces on 3D/4d ultrasounds. I had my appointment with her gestational diabetes MFM. Right after they did an ultrasound to check on baby. She is measuring 30+5 so about 3 lbs 9 oz. The OB specialist there came in after to go over the ultrasound. Said everything looks good. He looked at my cervix on ultrasound and said it doesn’t appear to be dilated at all. I didn’t think they could tell by ultrasound? Now I’m confused. Anyone ever hear of being checked for dilation by ultrasound instead of manually?

Sorry, Anababe. That sounds stressful with trying to make Christmas like years past. But they will be happy either way I’m sure!

We do Santa at our house, though the last couple years I’ve been trying to tone down on the amount of gifts. I will be doing all my shopping online this year since I can’t be up. I will be off bedrest January 1 if I make it that far that is. So long away!

Ashley I don’t know about dilation - I guess if they can see the length and whether it’s thinning (I don’t actually know what that is though!) on the ultrasound, they must be able to see dilation too? I think I’d much prefer that to the manual way! Lol! I’m glad everything looks good :)

Red - what a beautiful scan photo! So clear.

Ana - sorry to hear you are stressing around Xmas gifts for your children. Kids are a lot more grateful than what we think. I panic thinking I have to go and get the kids mountains of gifts so they enjoy themselves but I'm sure if I only got them a few things then they would still appreciate that. Its about the memories created.

My son is almost 8 (on Dec 27th) and I've told him that santa not be bringing him a huge pile this year as he's older and his things are more expensive. (they think we sent santa the money) he said he's fine with that and he understands.

Ashley - I have no idea if they can see dilation on ultrasound, I've never heard of that before!

I can't believe there is only 61 days until my csection! I'm so excited and finding it really helpful that three are lots of events keeping us busy until then.

December's always a packed full of Xmas things at both kids schools (sales, christingle, carrol singing, nativity, school lunch). I have my bday on the 7th Dec, Xmas, then my sons bday on 27th Dec. Hubby and the kids go back to work and school after 2 weeks off for Xmas on 6th Jan. I have my driving test booked for 7th Jan and then baby the next week. Gosh it's getting exciting.

Good luck for the driving test Sophie!

hows everyone getting on?

Ashley - thank goodness for online shopping, hey? I’m glad you at least have that option, although it’s a shame you’ll miss out on the in-person shopping experience if you enjoy it. That’s exciting that you’ll be off bed rest on Jan 1st! I’m glad your ultrasound went well. I don’t know anything about them checking dilation on an ultrasound.

Sophie - wow, you definitely have an extra busy December with the birthdays on top of everything! I hope you are able to enjoy it all and that it doesn’t get too intense. Hopefully your 8 year old will be fine with fewer gifts now that they are more expensive.

Good luck on your driver’s test in January! That’s exciting. And that must be exciting to have an actual c-section date to count down to! Woohoo!

Red head - Thanks for checking in. How are you doing?

AFM - anyone else get super out of breath just from standing these days? I’ve been out of breath from exertion for a long time now (perhaps my baby is sitting higher up this time?) but now it seems every time I am standing for more than a minute or so I get light headed and out of breath. I guess I had that long too long ago with that dizzy spell but it sort of went away for a while I guess. Oh well. The joys of pregnancy!

I am definitely feeling very large this time so it’s hard to believe that I have 11 weeks left to grow! I haven’t gained any more weight than usual, but it seems like my bump is huge already.

I am getting excited for the end of work. Only 5 more weeks until my Christmas holidays. Once I return from those, I only work 1.5 weeks before I’m gone again! Yay!

We went shopping for Christmas dresses for the girls today but the selection was poor and we only found something for dd1. We’ll have to go back another day for dd2.

I was sleeping better for a while but am finding I’ve had more insomnia this past week and am also feeling more anxious and on edge in general.

Ive been good. Starting the chiropractor this week until birth. Rescan of my 3d is Friday, midwife Wednesday.

Literati - I'm the same with getting out of breath. I always get quite big towards the end so not unusual for me but I am def more out of breath doing very small things these last couple of weeks.

Literati sorry you’re having breathlessness. I sometimes feel my chest is really tight like I can’t get enough air in, but it’s normally when I’m just sat down! Sorry your insomnia is back!

OnErth I hope the rescan works out better! It’s nice you get to see bee again though!

Anababe sorry you’re having the breathlessness too.

I watched a video on breastfeeding yesterday and then looked down to discover my boobs had actually started leaking! Only a little but not ideal! I’m hoping it means I will be able to breast feed as it’s something I worry about! I’ve got really ridiculously big boobs and I worry it’ll make it too hard for baby to latch, or that they won’t produce properly as it feels they are only good for comedy purposes (yes they are that big!). But hopefully this is a god sign!

It's normal to leak during pregnancy. It has no difference to if you can nurse. They have found breast size doesnt make a difference either. It's all supply and baby. Can baby latch, get the milk out efficiently and does your body get the signal to make more.

That's not to say there arent other factors, that was just my basic description. You should reach out to la leche league. It's free breastfeeding meetings. You can attend while pregnant. They are international.

I had tiny boobs and had over production lol. I have had augmentation since the birth of my 3rd. I just went up to a B cup. Just wanted a decent size since I’m not very big and D cups wouldn’t match! Anyway, I worry i won’t be able to produce milk this time because of that. I know most of the time it’s no issue but there are chances where ducts can be damaged. So I’m just hoping and praying I can fully breastfeed again!
