Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

owen only naps for 20 mins at a go. it has been getting closer to mid morning rather than 9.30 too.

frufru - hope joni's tooth comes through soon. owen seems to be constantly teething but no teeth appear :dohh:

hannah - :yipee: for a good night. ask amelia to pass on some tips to owen!

ok off to do some housework, the place looks like a pigsty again :dohh: the neverending story

maybe really like your new avatar! Well Will's naps are getting a bit better, think it's my confidence. He 30 mins to go down yesterday morning and only 10 this morning and has been asleep for an hour so far...... always when we are waiting to go out x

Quick question, for how long in the day before they go to bed do your LO's sleep?

Thanks for the morning nap feedback everyone

And Sarah thanks for the weaning tips too :hugs: I think I will try some melba toast and breadsticks and see how wee miss gets along with them.

Hannah, Joni usually goes down for her first nap within 2-2.5 hours of getting up and usually sleeps for 45mins. She then has her second nap approx 2.5-3.5 hours after the previous nap ended and will sleep for 1.5-2 hours. SOmetimes Joni takes an afternoon/early evening nap but she does not always need/want it. If she does take a third nap I try not to let her sleep past 5pm and it is often only a short catnap of 10-30mins to tide her over until bedtime.

Off to do some chores while the Joni-lady naps, hope you all have a lovely afternoon. We are off to one of the lakes nearby for an afternoon nature walk later

hannah - with owen it's hit and miss but there needs to be at least 2 hrs between his last nap and bedtime. his naps are usually 20mins. it's a work in progress :dohh:

well off to see HV and hoping she'll weigh owen. he's not been weighed since 4months and not supposed to be weighed til 8months but i really want to know how much he weighs as he's 6 months this week! wish me luck!

Have a lovely afternoon FruFru! That sounds lovely!!

Hannah Oliver naps for 30 - 45 mins a go on average, and he tends to have about three naps a day - one in the morning, one early afternoon, and one at about 4.30. He has a bath at six and is normally asleep for seven.

I'm starting to really enjoy the BLW now :) Breakfast went down a treat, and Oliver ate most of his Little Stars pot by himself. I just passed him the spoon - it was messy but he was so good and really seemed to 'get' it. I'm all proud :haha: I've also noticed that I'm eating better - loads more fruit and veg - so thats definetly a good thing. I have to say though that I have developed a bit of a thing for rusks, I know they aren't great but I love them  Oliver sucks on half of one and I nibble away at a couple with a cuppa after dinner

Right, I'm not even dressed yet :dohh: Better go and get some stuff done.

I've still not sorted out contraception  I haven't had sex though so I don't need to yet. Still waiting for a referral to the womens for my op.
I am SO broody. I was anyway, but now Sarah has had Summer I'm a million times worse. Vinny is too. I was a bit offended, I was holding her in the hospital sitting on the bed while Sarah got a shower and a midwife came in and offered me a cup of tea. I'm pretty sure I don't look like I've just given birth :dohh:
I feel so sorry for her, I know some of you read my thread in GS and thankyou for your support x. She ended up having a double episiotomy and forceps but lost over a litre of blood so is having a blood transfusion today. She's also really really asthmatic and her oxygen is low, so she's having a nebuliser too. The baby is gorgeous, so tiny compared to Daisy but still bigger than some of your babies at birth- I can't imagine how small Oliver and Joni were!!
So yes, I really want another baby but I have to wait until I've at least finished college. Daisy will be 2 then, and I'm considering having another one then. I haven't told Vinny because he's desperate to have another asap

Oh and Daisy doesn't really do 'routine' which quite suits us. She's the type of baby who is happy to do whatever, whenever as long as you bring food! We're rarely at home during the day, we tend to go to baby groups, the library, shopping or visiting every day as I can't stand staying in and Daisy gets cranky staring at the same 4 walls for long!
Also, breast feeders- Sarah really wants to bf, but Summer just won't latch. She's getting a lot of help from the midwives and breast start but it doesn't seem to be working and they make her give her a bottle after half an hour. I had a similar issue with Daisy, and I just gave in really quick as the midwives were unhelpful.
Anyway, last night Sarah was feeding her from 9.30 til 2.30 and every time she stopped the baby would start screaming again because she was still starving. She eventually gave in and gave her a bottle at 2.30 and she drank nearly 80mls  is it possible her milk just hasn't come in? Summer is 3 days old today x

Poor Sarah, that sounds like a real ordeal, I'm glad Summer is doing well. I would definitely say it might be that Sarah's milk hasn't quite come in yet, mine tookl a few days xx

Katie babies do tend to want to suckle the whole time to start with - its all about supply and demand so Summer will suck and suck now, even though she's just getting colostrum, because in a few days she will need more milk. Then when she has a growth spurt, again she will feed and feed a few days before she needs the milk - its like a pre-order! Giving a bottle makes things harder in the long run, because it can mess up the supply and demand thing, it should be much easier when her milk comes in :hugs:
I really hope Sarah is doing well, poor girl - what a traumatic time shes had!! I hope she's out of hospital and feeling great soon!

Thanks Sarah! I wonder why they haven't told her that! She's seen 2 different women from breast start and the midwives too. I've just texted her and told her. I think the midwives are making her feel like she's starving the baby!
I know Sarah, I think horrible labours and births run in my family :dohh:

Summer's tummy is sooo tiny, she just wants to suck, its great for bonding too (though it can get sore - ouchy!!).

we have 'Little Angels' breastfeeding support here, lady came out to see me and she made so, so much sense!! After I had seen her everything just clicked into place. So for example sometimes Oliver would be feeding and feeding, would come off the boob and cry, and go back on and feed and feed again. But when I had a squeeze nothing would come out - so I would think that there was no milk, and he was starving, so thats why he cried. But actually he wasn't starving - he just wanted to suck!

It frustrates me that this kind of thing isn't explained to all new mums who want to breastfeed. My friend stopped because she said her three day old was using her as a dummy. How does a three day old know what a dummy is? She was using her nipple as a nipple - give her a dummy and she'll be using a dummy as a nipple!! Babies do what nature tells them to do!

Aww I so feel for her! x

Thanks. I've told her what you've said but she has already decided to give up :(. I definitely think, particularly for such a big womens hospital, they need better support for breastfeeders! The midwife who delivered Daisy wouldn't help at all and told me that unless I do it for 6 months there's no point even trying

I originally wanted to breastfeed and did it in the hospital and the first day at home, but it hurt so much and she wasn't getting enough nutrients and ended up with low blood sugar :( My midwife advised me to switch to formula so we did and she's a lot better due to the change.

Emera- gorgeous pic of Roh. Cannot believe he is 7months.

Frufru - that retreat sounds fab. It will be good for you to get the break. Bet you feel fab when you get back

Maybe - your DH is like mine. So inconsistent!! When he is good I love him to bits but when he is bad I could rip his head off!

H&f - big hugs And hope your OH has come back to support you

Amy - wow a puppy!! Very cute though! Have you tested yet?!

Sarah - love the website. You are so organised. An inspiration!

Katie - goodness your sis has really been through it poor thing.

Hannah you seem to have the sleeping sussed you lucky thing

All good here. Che is also getting his 1st tooth. Think he is coping really well but every now and then he keeps sucking in his bottom lip and crying! Bless him.

BLW I think is all about patience! Some days Che will explore everything given other days he just chucks it straight on the floor. Last night though he could not get enough roasted parsnips and today there was definitely something 'extra' in his nappy!!

We got an aqua pod yesterday and Che LOVES it. He was laughing away in the bath. It's fab.

Went for lunch today with a friend to Giraffe in Spinningfield. Che was brilliant. Slept half and then in highchair smiling at everyone. The waiter commented how good he was and even my friend who is not a baby person said how lovely he was. Wish it was like that every time! And we had a 40% off voucher! Love it! The ice rink was up too starting to feel very wintery.

Katie: congrats to your sis on having her baby! I am so sorry she had problems bfing and MW were unhelpful :( when I was trying with Bobby I was told that my nipples were too short (in my depressed state I took that to mean deficient) and no one else was having problems like me breastfeeding (something was very wrong with me). It all seemed to go downhill from there and although I expressed for a while I never seemed to have much (convinced this was due to stress and depression). I hope it goes better for her :hugs:

------------------------

Hope you are all ok :hugs:

Bobby's second tooth has started to come out and he seemed a little grumpy :( I gave him some Ashton & Parsons teething powder (luckily we managed to find some at heathrow airport) before bed. He has adjusted to Dubai time for a few days now.

I have a cold :( it sucks as I have barely left my grandmas for two days. Figures I get a cold on holiday!

Evening!

Booo, i really wanted to reply to everyones posts, but i feel too poo :( This cold is horrible!

:hugs: to you all!
