Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Just a quick update from me tonight, Oliver still hasn;t settled - two hours after bedtime! I think its his teeth, this is sooooo not like him. I've given him calpol and things but i think ive got a sleepless night ahead!

x

Hey everyone - Hope everyone is ok.

I have had an ok ish day but have booked a hair cut for tomorrow and have no idea what to have done! No idea what will suit me but at the moment all I do is tie it back and I hate it! hmmm I think I will look thru pictures

Maybe - it is hard work! She wee's and poops all the time! :haha:
LC - oh no, your poor doggie. whats he called? :flower:
frufru - alex's naps depend a bit on what time he wakes but i've definately noticed him going from 4 a day to 2 or 3 and the day his tooth came it as 1!
sarah - I finally managed to tear DH away from Lyra at about midnight. we shut her in the kitchen, DH was really worried about her so we put the baby monitor in there. She woke up at 6 am and he sat on the sofa with her for an hour. Then he called in sick becasue he wanted to be with her!! He's smitten. If I could produce puppies instead of children he'd be a happy man
Katie - OMG your poor sister :hugs: what a brave brave little lady she is :hugs: she has a beautiful daughter though. Thats sweet Vinny is broody too :)
CG - yey to Che getting teeth too :hugs:
Modo and emera - sorry you're both feeling crummy :hugs:
H&F - how did your scan go? :hugs: I have a hair cut booked for next week too, I have no idea what to have done but anything is better than my current scarecrow look :haha:
Hannah - ALex normally naps at about 3 when i get the girls from school and thats his last sleep before bedtime.

we had a disasterous evening. We've got stairgates up to keep Lyra in the kitchen at night and Holly was leaning over one to stroke Lyra and Holly and the gate fell on Lyra  DH was screaming and he was holding Alex which made Alex scream. Holly was screaming. Lyra was making a horrible noise and shaking and crying. It was awful. DH rushed her to the vet and she had an x-ray and full check. They thinks she;s ok but unfortunately she had a full stomach when she was crushed and they said her stomach might have burst and only time would tell. she keeps doing poops with red blood in them :nope: its going to be a long night.

Alex got his second tooth through today like Bobby

Had scan and have had a m/c - but its ok.

Sarah - Really hope Oliver settles soon, Amy is still wide awake and keeps screaming at me.

Amy - I really hope that Lyra is ok. Keep us updated.

awww H&F I am sorry, I hope you are OK :hugs: I hope Dave is looking after you :hugs:

and Sarah & H&F - I hope Amy and Oliver get to sleep soon. Alex was like that the night before he got a tooth :winkwink:

Sarah :hugs: :hugs: I hope you're ok xx

Sarah - I hope Oliver settles soon, nights like that are so hard!

Amy- poor Lyra! I really hope she's okay :( and good luck telling Kerry, I hope he takes it well xx

Evening ladies,

A question about weaning - When you first began weaning what did you start them on and after how long did you try them on something new? Amelia's been having some banana porridge once a day for about 3 or 4 days now and she seems to like it :)

Amelia - Alex started off having banana and cucumber but I never really restricted him, i just gave him what I was having.
With TW, when I weaned the girls I'd try something new every other day, just to check they didnt react to it :hugs:

Amy - poor Lyra hope puppy is ok. And hope af comes soon for you if that is best

Sarah - fingers crossed Oliver settles and you have a good night

Emera/modo hope your colds are better soon

H&f hope you are ok hun

Hannah we are doing BLW so only just started weaning. He has had broccoli, carrot, parsnip, banana, sweet potato and rice cakes. Try same things for few days then try something else new.

As well as having a great day with Che, this evening has been a complete delight too. He has been so interactive and chirpy. DH bathed and massaged him no grizzling. He fed and went down no problem. It has been amazing to have a day where Che has been so easy. And I am now in bed not completely drained physically and emotionally. It's not that he is a bad baby normally but we always seem to have certain parts of the day that are harder to calm or entertain him.

I may be back on tearing my hair out at 3am though!!

Oliver has settled - touch wood. He's currently fast asleep. It took me four hours to settle him - urgh! Normally it takes an hour tops! After three hours I brought him downstairs as he was just crying every time I tried to settle him . . . so he sat on the sofa with me for a while and was wide awake and wanting to play :dohh: Hopefully he'll have a good night now, I'm off to sleep in a mo just in case.

Amy . . . . do a test sweetie. It will more than likely be negative - then you won't have to worry. You know that domeridone can make your periods stop don't you? Thats what your taking isn't it? It could just be that you know - and you feeling dodgy, well if you're like me if I think about feeling sick / tired etc I end up feeling like that :dohh: Just do a test, the odds of you been pregnant are really low - put your mind at rest sweetie :hugs:

I hope Lyra is okay - poor little thing! And poor Holly, I expect she feels terrible, accidents like that are just awful. Bless your OH been so smitten with his puppy - I can't believe he called in sick :haha: Do you just have to keep an eye on Lyra or do you have to take her back in for more checks? Fingers crossed she's okay :hugs:

Katie - it makes me so mad that women who want to breastfeed don't get more support - its just so, so wrong. I was so lucky to have Little Angels, but it shouldn't fall to a charity to provide that support. The midwives when I had Oliver were very pro-bf'ing and were really helpful, but they were so busy. Hugs to Sarah and Summer x

H&F :hugs: I'm sorry :hugs: Hope you enjoy getting your hair done! I'm getting mine done in a few weeks too, I normally just colour it myself and get it cut locally but I'm going to book into Vidal Sasson or something in Leeds and get it done nicely.

Right, I'm off to bed! Hope everyone has a good night - and sorry to everyone I've missed out - I'm shattered and not completely with it :haha:

Argh - Oliver's awake again :dohh:

xx

amy - poor lyra hope she's ok :hugs: have you tested yet?

h&f - :hugs: hope things with you and dave are ok :hugs:

hannah - i tried a few different fruits and veg for a couple of days each to check h wast allergic. he has most things now. have given him chicken buthave yet to try pork, lamb, beef and fish.

cg - glad che is behaving well for you

emera - get well soon :hugs:

modo - get well soon :hugs:

katie - what rubbish midwives and crappy support. hope your sis and summer are doing well.

sarah - hope you got an ok night in the end

frufru - i thought of you at 5.30am when i was woken up by owen and a massive poo :haha:

well the nights are still rubbish and i can see i will have to do some sort of sleep training but i am so soft i dont want to :dohh: owen also pooed at 5.30am and when he woke at 7.30am had another full pooey nappy :dohh: it was all green from all the spinach he's had the last few days

have just been to morrissons and now have to do some housework :dohh: owen fell asleep on the way back from morrissons and that's what i feel like doing!

oh forgot to say owen now weighs 20lbs 3oz so his weight gain is slowing a bit now (a good thing as i am getting biceps of steel  )

Maybebaby - did you manage to get Owen weighed? :haha: at thinking of me and the morning poo  yes that is one of Joni's specialities

Katie - I am so pleased that Baby Summer, I just want to hug your sister bless her :hugs: it sounds like she has a really rough time :sad1: Joni was tiny but only because she was early, she was 7lb9oz at 5 weeks and they reckon that she would have weighed about that had I gone to term. It was nearly 8 weeks before she crossed into the 9's, I can't imagine having a baby born that big  I tell you I am going to get a shock if I ever have another baby and he/she goes to term :haha: I am really sorry that Summer has not got the support she needed and deserved for breastfeeding :( As for the MW that told you if you don't BF for 6 months its not worth it :gun: what a load of rubbish :growlmad:
I am so impressed with Daisy's flexible routine  Joni is more of a routine baby, I have always wondered if it stems from the fact that she was put on a really strict routine from birth as she was in the NICU? As she grew and we stopped the routine and fed on demand she really struggled, then when we re-introduced a routine she settled down again  I love how our babies are all so different and have their own personalities :cloud9:

CG - yay for CHe's tooth :happydance: I am still waiting for Joni's to make an appearance, I swear it could be any day now........ Ooooh I love giraffe and they are such a welcoming business to Mum's and babies, hubby and I have said the next time he has a half day off from work that we are going to go for a meal and take Joni
How lovely that you had a nice evening with CHe, I know what you mean about some parts of the day being harder to calm and entertain. Joni is like that too.

Sarah - I am glad that you got Oliver settled. I had no problem getting Joni to bed but she woke up at 11 and I could not get her settled until 12.30 due to teething pain  she then woke loads more through the night and I only ended up getting 3 hours sleep  its a good job I am accustomed to nights like that already :winkwink: fingers crossed her little teeth will make an appearance soon!

Modo - :hugs: for poorly you. I hate how you always seem to come down with something on holiday :dohh: I hope you feel better soon. I am pleased that Bobby has adjusted to the time difference, he is such a good boy

Emera - sending you warm, snuggly, get well :hugs:

H&F - :hugs: I am so sorry :hugs: I hope that Dave is giving you the support you need. Have a nice time at the hairdressers today. I hope Amy settled for you in the end and gave you a good nights rest.

Hannah - I hope you got Hannah off to sleep again ok. As for weaning, I try to only introduce one new thing a day so if something were to disagree with her it would be easy to interpret what is was. Are you a member of the HIPP organic baby club or anything like that? HIPP sent me a traditional weaning guide, some free samples and spoons which were very useful  I know you have not got your weaning talk for a while but it you think Amelia needs to be weaned early you should be able to make an individual appointment with your HV to discuss.

Amy - :hugs: for poor little Lyra and Holly, I hope they are both ok. about hubby taking the day off work :haha: honestly men :dohh:

So we have a busy day today, baby yoga at 11 and then meeting baby friends at 3 so we will pop home in the middle for Joni's nap. After saying Joni was shortening the morning nap she has slept for over an hour today though I suspect that is because she was up half the night :dohh: I am doubtful if Joni will last the whole baby yoga session as she will most likely want a feed and sleep half way through but we will give it a go. I am hoping the disturbed sleep is a teething thing [-o< rather than a regression. Time will tell :winkwink:

Better go, I have done my daily chores so now to get Joni washed and dressed.

By the way do any of you know what the hell this smiley is about :holly: I laughed out loud when I saw it

Have a lovely day all :hugs:

OMG that smiley frufru  no idea! we mustve posted at same tims. owen is 20lbs3oz

Thanks for the advice girls.

My weaning talk's supposed to be in 2 days but I can't go unfortunately, :( the HV said that the woman could come round and talk to me though.

For the past few days i've been trying Amelia on banana porridge about an hour after her 12:30 feed and she seems to be getting used to it :) I'm not sure what to try her on next though.

Pureed pear or apple is usually good at Amelia's age Hannah.

Joni has just tried philadelphia (on a biscuit of course :winkwink: and she loves it!

hannah - carrot, sweet potato and parsnip are good veg to start with and apple and pear are good fruit ones like frufru said. i have used the annabel karmel top 100 baby purees with all 3 of my children and have found it money well spent.
