Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Hmmm, maybe I should get a medium one.

They look fab, I wouldn't dare get my full shop from them though at the moment because they deliver here on a Thursday and thats baby club / mummy coffee day so I'd probably not be in when they came. I can think of somewhere to hide a box, but not a full shop :haha:

OOhhh even better! You get your fourth box free at the moment!! That decides it then :haha:

Yeah, you don't have to be in when they come, you can specify where they leave the delivery ;)

Hey, put me down as reccommending you! :hugs:

I did!! Well I put your name and 'of Bristol' so hopefully they will know its you and send you something lovely

I've ordered a medium mixed box, and for now I've ordered one every two weeks. I figure I can always change that if I need to, and I get my forth box free! Its just a shame I've got to wait a week, I want my blood oranges NOW :haha:

You know next week I'm going to be saying Emera - what the hell do I do with a courgette?!?!

OOhhhh you've made my night, I love stuff like that!!!! :happydance::happydance:

I'm sure i can help with recipe ideas, you wait until you are confronted with black salsify :haha:

With what?!?! I'll be posting photos on here and saying 'what on earth IS this?!?' Never mind asking how to cook it!!!

hehe! :haha: They do tend to put recipe idea cards in the boxes if there is anything too far off the beaten track in there  The boxes are different every week, depending on whats been harvested that week, and they are seasonal, so like autumn winter you get alot of root veg, and around now, its starting to be more salad in there, etc. I think you'll find it a good addition to your normal shop. I find that if i desperately want something they haven't sent i just pop to the grocers up the road and grab it. :winkwink:

it sounds just great! I'm so pleased! :haha:

As I'm getting more into my cooking I'm paying much more attention to my shopping. I've been buying meat from the lovely local farm shop and I'd like to get organised enough that I only buy meat from them, as its all local and really lovely quality. I could get any extra veg etc from them too, as its not far away.

I can't thank you enough, I'm so pleased!

hi girls i've had so much to catch up on that this is the first time i've had a chance to get on here!!! just a quickie to say i'm alive:haha:

sarah- glad u r finallu better

emera - sorry u didnt get bfp this month

modo - how's your cat?

frufru - go on the retreat! what a lovely friend!

owen just dive bombed off the bed when my back was turned  there's so little room between the bed and chest of drawers that he got wedged in with his feet sticking up and his head didnt make contact with the floor so he didnt hit his head on the floor and didnt cry! erin thought it was hillarious!

Maybebaby - bless Owen! They really do get themselves in a pickle sometimes. I laughed til I cried when Joni got herself stuck under the futon from wriggling backwards

Emera - I can repair and mend clothes but no way could I make them from scratch  I am glad that you have been able to identify why Roh is not settling at night. Honestly men can be so silly sometimes! We still give Joni her bottle after her bath at the moment as we find she often spits up if we give it before, plus with dinner at 5 and bath at 6.20 I am not sure if she would have room after her food to drink much. But I can't help feeling that it might be better to break the habit of needing her bottle before she sleeps as she has a bottle before all her naps and bedtime

Sarah - courgette and banana cake :winkwink:

Hannah - more teeth means more teething which is our house means less sleep! So don't wish too hard for those toothypegs :winkwink: they will come when they are ready.

After a few days respite teething seems to be back on the menu again. The two teeth beside the middle tops ones on both sides look like they are about to come and the other bottom middle one is cutting the gum. Last night Joni woke at 1.30 and by 3am was still awake. Bless her she kept trying to settle herself but just could not fall into a deep sleep. So in the end for the first time in over a week I got her out of bed for some calprofen followed by a cuddle to give the meds time to kick in. I popped her down around 3.30 still awake and she sang herself to sleep within minutes. Unfortunately she was wide awake at 5.35 though  I have to say that if it is one night like that every once in a while I don't think that is too shabby.

I am still umming and ahhhing about the trip. I spoke to my friend last night and she had not thought about any of the logisitics of taking Joni - carseat, travel cot, food prep, washing etc. All the food is prepared for you and we won't have access to the kitchen which could be an issue unless they are happy to make Joni separate meals as she eats much earlier than the main dinners are served. Plus I am a bit concerned about upsetting the other guests. Lets face it babies/toddlers are noisy and Joni a bit more than most :winkwink: If I put myself in their place and had paid all that money to go away on a peaceful yoga retreat and someone else turned up with a noisy toddler I would be really quite put out especially if Joni has nights like last night while we are away. Overall I am feeling increasingly nervous about travelling abroad with Joni for the first time, on my own (ie without hubby for backup), to a place I've not been before that is not geared to accomodating children with a group of people expecting a quiet idyllic yoga retreat  Hubby has said that maybe if Joni is in nursery for her 2 days by then that maybe he could try to move his holiday days around and Joni could stay at home but then that pretty leaves hubby with no holiday to take off for the rest of the year :nope: Arghhhhhhh what to do

I should just say that my friend has asked that I keep the offer of her paying for the retreat a secret as she doesn't really want our other friends, colleagues and acquaintances knowing. I have only told hubby, my Mum and you girls and I know you will be discrete :hugs:

I went to Asda last night, as we are nearly out of nappies, and forgot to take my purse not realising until I was in the asda carpark :dohh: I was so tired I could not be bothered to go last night so Joni is wearing baby dry until I go and get some more active fit for her.

Ah well I am going to pop off for now and do stuff, I'm not sure exactly what, just stuff :haha:

Speak to you all later xx

frufru - would your friend maybe be up for going somewhere more child friendly?

i am soooo pissed off with mil :growlmad: she came round unannounced and basically said that we live in a shit hole  and it's not fair on the kids :saywhat: the kids are clean and fed and happy. the kitchen is cleaned every day, the dishes washed. the bathroom is clean, the beds are made. ok the ironing board is out and there are ironing piles on the living room table and in my bedroom. yes there are toys on the floor, but also in boxes. how dare she insinuate that we are bringing the kids up in a substandard home  maybe if her son got off his arse more than once a year and helped his wife with the kids/chores it wouldnt be such a mess. i am really upset about it! what would she know, she has had her kids 14 years apart and has had a cleaner for years and fil helps her round the house. i have 3 kids in 4 years and no cleaner!!!

:grr: am so pissed off as danny left 3 hours ago to run an errand to go and pick up dylan's new bike and hasnt come back but has gone to his mum's to escape the madness of our house with kids! charming! he's on leave and i'm still left to do everything on my own :growlmad: i bet he went to get dylan's new bike as an excuse to leave here! and i call his parents house to speak to him and he speaks to me as if i am pestering him with a really bored voice and i had called to see whether he wanted potatoes or rice with the stew i am making :growlmad: feel like not making him anything!

Maybe - Glad you're alive!! :grr: at Danny, just make him whatever you like, don't give him the choice if he doesn't care :growlmad: Also :grr: at your MIL, how dare she?!? Saying that though, my mum has made comments about my flat in the past, and it used to really upset me. I decided i wouldn't let it bother me anymore, so now if she says anything about the state of the flat, i just say "the rubber gloves are under the sink, knock yourself out if you want it cleaner" :haha: shuts her up every time!

FruFru - Poor Joni teething :hugs: at least like you say if its a night like that once a fortnight or even once a week, and the rest of the time things are working well, then thats good going :winkwink:
I can understand why you'd be struggling to feel confident about the logistics of the trip your friend has offered. I'd say write down all the things you have misgivings about, and see how many could be easily solved. If there are too many things you can't solve then you might have to rethink :( Also, if Joni is in nursery part time by then, and your hubbie is happy caring for her the rest of the time, could you not have a word with the nursery well in advance, and have her go for more days that week as a one off, so your hubbie didn't have to use his holiday up? Just a thought

Sarah - Glad you are so pleased about the box scheme

Well, its been such lovely weather here today! Not all that warm, but clear blue skies all day:cloud9: Roh and I went and met some friends at the playcentre today. Naturally Roh fell asleep just before we got there and spent an hour snoozing, luckily its only 99p for babies under 1 year, and its not timed sessions unless it gets mega-busy  Once he woke up he had a ball. My friend's little girl is crawling well too, so they had alot of fun chasing eachother about. They kept turning towards eachother, then both grinning and shouting, and then they charged towards eachother, and ended up headbutting, sooo cute :flower: Roh managed to kiss 2 little girls whilst he was there, at least he's stopped biting and just does massive slobbery licks instead now :haha:

After the babies were worn out, we cruised the local charity shops, there is about 20 of them all along that street, its great. I spent £4 and got Roh 2 new looking board books, a gap sweater, some Disney dungerees and a little green puffy body warmer, which i thought would be good for the spring, when he might not need a full coat. Good haul! On the way back i went to poundland and got 4 sleeved bibs and 4 little plastic plates (for his snacks etc) for £5. What a bargain day  We ended up getting home really late (5.45pm ) So had to shovel scrambled eggs and toast down Roh, then his bottle, chuck him in the bath, then read him a story, and had him in bed by 7pm. Phew!!

I grabbed a choccy bar today, so i'm settling down for a cosy friday night alone with choccy and baileys (only a little bit!) and a soppy film :happydance:

Evening!

FruFru I can understand you concerns :hugs: Maybe you could explain to your friend, and the three of you (you, Joni and your friend) could have a long weekend somewhere in the UK? You could do something all lovely and relaxing like posh camping and almost arrange your own little retreat?

Emera wow great bargains!! Well done!! I have a couple of puffy body warmers for Oliver, they are great for the warmer days when we are just going out in the car, with a jumper or cardi on underneath. I really need to get one in a bigger size . . . they look soooo cute on!! I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather so Oliver and I can pop up to Weatherby on a Sunday morning and have a walk around the car boot sale there. I miss my car boot sale bargains in the winter :haha:

Maybe WOW your MIL has such a cheek!!! My MIL is the complete opposite, if she sees me cleaning she always says oohhhh sit down and put your feet up :haha: Our house is no where close to been like a show home, but now I have Oliver I like it to be kind of lived in, it feels very homely :)

Oliver and I had a drive down to my wedding meeting earlier on, my Dad took him while I met with my bride. the meeting went really well and Oliver was so sweet with my dad. I think it was really nice for Dad as he hasn't watched Oliver on his own before and he seemed to really enjoy it, they had a walk around the gardens and then it got a bit cold apparently so they sat in my dads car, when I found them Dad was explaining to Oliver how to drive :haha:

Steve has the weekend off - YAY! He's due home any time and not working again until Monday night :) Hopefully we will get quite a lot of stuff done, there are lots of little jobs that have built up that I can't do while I'm watching Oliver - it would be SO good to get those done!

xx

emera - how cute is roh kissing the girls!!! :) well done with the bargain hunting  we never get deals like that here!!!

sarah - glad your meeting went well  and that oliver had a nice time with his grandad :) dylan and erin love to sit in the car and pretend to drive :haha:

owen's awake again! i have popped him on my left boob but am in agony. it started hurting at the bottom in leeds but now my nipple really hurts and today i found a sore on it and it hurts soooo much even when he's not feeding. am shoving lansinoh on it and had some antibiotics in the cupboard which danny reckoned i should take so i am.
