Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Oh, silly me, i forgot the last episode was last week :dohh: Yay for series catch up on iPlayer though i can watch the one i missed instead :happydance:

Oh, and Sarah - Roh is obsessed with stacking cups too, he loves putting them inside eachother :haha: That and taking the lid on and off his shape sorting bucket, he throws all the shapes out and just takes the lid on and off :D

L-C - Glad you had a nice day, how clever is Will! :)

Maybe - Goodness you've been waiting forever for that cot, hope you get it soon! :hugs:

Evening!

I hope everyone has had a lovely Mothers Day! I got a lovely card this morning - and no pressie!! I didn't say anything but I was a bit :( until a huge delivery from M&S flowers arrived mid morning :haha:  They are gorgeous :)

Apart from that Oliver and I just had a quiet but fun day and did lots of playing and been silly - I love making him laugh, its sooooo cute!

L-C Will looks so grown up and gorgeous in your pic!! We really should take Oliver swimming :dohh:

Emera your day sounds so lovely! Thats one busy week you have there - I hope it all goes well :hugs: Happy Birthday to your OH for tomorrow!! Is Roh our first baby to turn one?

:flower: Happy Mothers Day :flower:

maybe - ahh thats so cute of Dylan :cloud9: I really hope you get the cot soon, I dont know how you've managed! Alex is normally in with us for half the night but its so nice to put him in his cot while I am downstairs early evening and not have to worry he'll fall on the floor!

LC - that picture is sooooo cute! He's a proper little man and very handsome with it! alex gives kisses too, also open mothed wet ones. I love it though :cloud9:

sarah - :dohh: I am always doing that with washing!! :dohh: :haha: does steve mind? Kerry always gets in a strop :haha: hope you had a lovely day :hugs:

emera - I was thinking of how its Roh's birthday soon! wow you sure have a busy week ahead of you  sounds like you had a perfect day :cloud9:

I was given a big box of chocolates and an orchid by my brood which was lovely. We had my family round to celebrate emily's birthday and went for a nice walk followed by tea and birthday cake. I'm hoping to hear this week whether i can be supported by my local health trust to do a return to nursing course.its not what i really want but i have exhausted all other options in this area

sarah - jinx make a wish :haha: I love flowers :cloud9: well done Oliver

wow emera busy busy busy! glad you had a nice mother's day!

LC - i meant to say great pic of will!

sarah :happydance: for the flowers!

Amy - glad you got spoilt with chocs and flowers. hope you get the return to nursing course!!!

well i decided to try and start some sort of sleep routine (if you can call it that!) without the cot! :dohh: i bf him and then took him to bed and lay him down and sung to him. he fought it for about half an hour but then relented and gave in to sleep and has been asleep for over an hour which is a first! i think maybe taking it in phases and doing the training in the bed and then moving to the cot (when i force danny to get it on wednesday!) may be an idea! in his defense he did work 7am-2pm and then we went straight out for lunch with his parents and then we got home past 5pm so i guess it was a bit much to ask for him to get the cot. i do need it as owen gets up as soon as he wakes and tries to crawl off the bed :dohh:

my mum and sis went to london for the weekend and are back tomorrow so if it doesnt rain i may head down to the airport to see them arrive with erin and owen (dylan will be at school) we shall see in the morning.

right i think i'm going to wash and then head to bed and read a bit as there's not a lot on tv and danny's fallen asleep on the sofa :haha: and then he moans when i say i'm off to bed at midnight :dohh: men! ;)

Maybe- Really good luck with the training, i hope it works for you!!!

Sarah - Flowers, lovely :cloud9: I didn't get a pressie, but then we are rather skint, and Roh doesn't get any pocket money yet, i think he must have borrowed from OH to get the card :haha: tbh i would have been annoyed if OH had wasted money on a present, as nice as it would have been, we need to save our pennies ;)

And yes, i think Roh is the oldest one in here, unless LogansMama went first? Dylan might be older by a couple of days, i'm not sure

Amy - Saying i didn't want a present, i wouldn't have turned my nose up at a big box of choccies! Yum, you lucky thing! :munch: Fingers crossed about the nursing! Whilst its not ideal, or what you love, if it lets you stay in the area, then that will be a good thing :hugs:

Amy I haven't told Steve yet, I don't have many hiccups with the washing, in fact I think I've only ruined one thing of Steve's which was a jumper which I threw away  He still asks about it now and then to see if I have seen it :dohh: The last time he asked the conversation went like this: 'I haven't seen my grey DKNY jumper for ages. Have you seen it?' ' No honey, grey? Are you sure you have one in grey?' 'I'm sure I did' 'Hmmmm I don't remember a grey one, maybe you're getting mixed up' 'Yeah I must be, because where could it have gone?!?!'

Emera the flowers are lovely, but really I would have just been happy with a huge Oliver hug :)

Oh, and L-C Oliver does those open mouth tounge out kisses too :haha:

Oh, Emera (or anyone else who can cook :haha:) I need to pick your brain!!

I stewed some cooking apples today, they needed using up so I thought I'd stew them and make a crumble. But I think I got a bit carried away as it went a bit too mushy - Steve saw it and asked why I had made apple sauce  So I guess I could still shove a crumble top on, but have you got any better ideas? Its got sugar in it, and I used about five apples so there in a medium sized pan full :haha: And did I just cook it for too long?

Gosh I'm a hopeless cook

maybe - the phased sleep training sounds like a plan  Alex is the same as owen, as soon as he wakes (usually at 6am) he's off, he's like a lemming, its like he;s called to the edge of the bed to jump!

emera - I can still remember when Roh was born, you were in and out of hospital with a stomach bug and contractions weren't you ?? thanks for your post, being near my family is the most important thing to me so I'd do any job to stay here and I'm lucky I've got the nursing to fall back on. I did really enjoy working with babies and children, its just the unsociable hours and working christmas i hated. I hope it works out

sarah -  thats brilliant! the thing in my house is kerry never puts on any washing, its always me. our old washing machine had a bad habit of putting holes in clothes so I always got the blame :growlmad: :haha: as for the apple sauce you could shove a crumble on top! or I bet emera would have some good suggestions! it sounds yummy!

My little man wouldnt BF to sleep tonight so I put him down in his cot awake after trying to get him to sleep for an hour. I just went up and checked him and he'd fallen asleep cuddling his teddies :cloud9: so adorable, I just wanted to pick him up and squish him! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Amy its the same here, I doubt Steve even knows how to put our washer on :haha: So I think he knows that if he goes mad because I died his tshirt I'll just say do your own laundry :haha: I'll pick my moment to tell him though. I think it looks okay in blue

Awwww that's just too cute of Alex!!! Oliver couldn't be less interested in soft toys. He just wants anything that he can bang about and make a noise. He got hold of a metal handled pastry brush the other day and spend about an hour banging it on the stair gate. Everytime I tried to make him stop he went into meltdown :dohh: he has such proper little tantrums now, he throws himself backwards and really screams!! I guess its normal for this age? Any idea what the best way to deal with it is? I try distracting him but that works less and less now. The little monster :haha:

sarah - re tantrums if distraction doesnt work then ignore and dont give him the attention he's seking. about the DKNY jumper! i cant believe he thinks he never had it :haha:  :haha:  danny has no idea how to use the washing machine either. the one time he tried i found out that he'd used one fabric conditioner as the detergent and the other fabric conditioner as fabric conditioner :dohh::rofl: glad it was his stuff he washed, not mine!

amy - great news about alex going to sleep on his own

owen is in to cars not soft toys. he pushes them backwards and forwards! cute :cloud9: got to go as he's screaming. will post later :hugs: to all xxxx

OMG i forgot to tell you girls that when we went to eat lunch yesterday with the inlaws my MIL wanted to give owen lemondae! and it was diet lemondade  and when i stopped her she was really surprised! :saywhat: he's not even a year old WTF does he need diet lemonade for! his beaker of water was there on the table :grr: it really worries me to leave him with her  why not give him a bit of the beer she was drinking too!!! :growlmad: sorry rant over! on with the day. we're off to the airport to welcome back my mum and sis xxx

Maybe :haha: at Danny and the fabric softener  I doubt Steve even knows where the laundry products are all kept in this house - in fact make that cleaning products of any kind unless they are for his car

I think the fact Steve believed that he may never have even owned the jumper says he's has waaaaay too many clothes :haha:

 at the lemonade!!!! Why are people so obsessed with babies having unhealthy stuff?

We're having a nice morning so far, I made sugar free banana muffins for Oliver after breakfast, I hope he likes them! They smell pretty good I must say! Oliver is now playing with toys while I put my feet up :haha:

We have Olivers development check at 3pm today. The health visitors haven't seen him since he was four months old  Does anyone know what they do?

Hope everyone has a fun day!!

when owen was checked at 8 months they just tested his hearing and weighed and measured him. with erin and dylan they asked a whole load of questions about their development but not with owen

We are having the tantrums too, he really knows how to play me and for a little man he really knows how to throw one, worryingly I think he gets it from me!

I love your laundry stories, just mark saying these'll go in together puts me off him going anywhere near.

Yay for your job interview Maybe - goodluck xx

Sarah at Will's check they weighed and measured him and asked some very routine questions. We did get seme free books from them.

Will had his lunch at nursery today and did very well again. He did a little titter as if he was going to cry when I left but stopped. He was playing happily when I collected him. He hadn't slept all morning and has just gone down now, so all in all not bad.

I've just been to see my friend who is taking positive action with the night feeds and has done a night without, her OH settled him back, her cousin did the same three weeks ago and has had three weeks of 7-7 sleeping. I'm thinking I'm going to have to give it a try. I know when I'm feeding him he doesn't actually need it. It's just actually doing it that's he problem.

LC - same here with the comfort feeds. will your OH take over for a few nights? i know mine won't :dohh: glad to hear that will was fine at nursery

we have had a busy day. my mum came over with pressies from her trip to london so whilst she was over i nipped to morissons for a few bits. then the kids persuaded me to go to the park so we went til 6.30 so it has been a hectic 45mins to get them bathed and they are now finishing dinner  (owen had dinner at the park!) i am hoping that they have burnt off their excess energy for bedtime in 40mins  danny is working til 10pm so i am making a roast chicken with the trimmings for when he gets back. really dont feel too much like making a start on that now but i told him i was making one and i think he'd be disappointed to come home to leftover pasta sauce from saturday night :haha:

maybe you are too good. A roast for 10pm, I'll be tucked up and fast asleep by then!

My OH is up for taking over from Friday, you might here the screams from Gib. Saying that I have just fed Will and handed him to OH to put him to bed and there were no screams at all (I think Will was more in shock, than anything). Trying to bring his feed slightly earlier so he doesn't associate it so much with sleep. Have no idea if it'll work but somewhere in my tiny brain it seems to make sense.
