Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Aloha ladies and babies

We have all been poorly since we got home last week so I have not had a chance to get back on here and catch up properly.

Our trip up north was not the enjoyable break we had hoped for as Joni was ill with a virus when we arrived and a few days into our stay FIL decided to have a shouting match with hubby regarding our parenting skills and choices :nope: quite how he has any perspective to offer when this is only the second time he has met Joni and the last time he saw her she was only 8 weeks old  Top that all with an awful flight home and us all getting ill  Boo and blah!

So I am a grumpy old sod at the moment, althought :holly: still never fails to bring a smile to my face :haha:

I hope to catch up on your posts soon. :hugs: and  to you all xxx

Sarah - We have tantrums too, Roh throws himself on the floor and screams :dohh: I just pick him up and give him a hug and then go distract him. If he doesn't stop i just plonk him next to all his toys and let him get on with it

By the way, about the apple puree, i guess you did stuff with it already, but you could easily still use it for a crumble  I tend to add a spoonfu of sweetened apple puree to tomato pasta sauce when i'm making it, as it brings out the flavour of tomatoes really well :)

Maybe- Diet lemonade :dohh: whats the point  saying that, MIL just left and today she fed Roh a load of chocolate fudge cake  I said he could have a bit, as it was OH's birthday cake, and he's nearly one, so i figured no harm in a taste. Anyway, of course he loved it :haha: After i gave him a little thumbnail sized piece though every time i turned around she was feeding him more! :dohh: Why does she think he needs so much cake?!? Anyway, i asked her to stop, saying it would spoil his tea, and she did, but i was a little bit annoyed she felt the need to keep sneaking it in whilst i wasn't looking, what is it with MILs?

I can't complain about her over all though, she's not too bad. She's a retired midwife and an NCT teacher, so she's pretty good with babies and quite useful sometimes :haha: Roh is her only grandson (OHs brother died 7 years ago, so its just him now) so i'll let her spoil him a little bit, so she gets her fix :D She has made Roh the most beautiful Paddington Bear quilt for his birthday, despite the fact i told her before his room theme is jungle. But having seen it, i don't mind at all, as its absolutely lovely :cloud9: plus Paddington Bear is cool! :)

Right, sounds like Roh is giving OH trouble getting dressed for bed, he's had a pretty over exciting day, better go to the rescue

:hugs:

LC - good luck! hopefully he'll not be as bad as you are anticipating!!!

emera - glad i'm not the only one with a MIL who gives too much crap to babies  she is helpful though and now i feel bad about complaining as she does do a lot for the kids even though she works full time!

frufru - hope you are all better soon. sorry your trip was not as nice as you hoped :hugs: sending you lots of :holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly: to cheer you up :)

owen has woken up once already. the sleep training has gone to pot tonight as i put owen in his buggy whilst i did a few bits in the kitchen and when i went back he was asleep :dohh: i transfered him to the bed and he woke up half an hour later (when i was starting to write this post :haha: ) but has had boobie and is back to sleep for now. going to watch a bit of eastenders before putting on the last of the veg for the roast

oh and i want one of these:

https://www.b2boutique.co.uk/Boba_2G_Tweet.html

how do i go about convincing danny?

L_C - I meant to say, we moved Roh's last bottle to before his bath a little while ago, to try and take the milk away from sleep time. Not sure that its made tons of difference, i always offer him his beaker of water after the bath, he sometimes has a bit, sometimes not. We weren't having much trouble with Roh's sleep though, certainly not with night feeds. I heard its recommended to do what you are doing if you are trying to eliminate night feeds though

FruFru - Sorry your holiday wasn't as relaxing as hoped. Sending you :holly::holly::holly::holly::holly: too! hehe they look funny all bouncing in a line! :D

Maybe - I love that carrier! It looks great. Not sure how you'll convince Danny, but i hope you do! I really want an Ergo one, they are £90 though  I think i've managed to convince my mum and OH though (the people i'll be begging money off :haha:) As my SIL will want her Wilkinet one that i have been using back in a couple of months, and if i get a decent carrier, then i won't need a double buggy when/if we get to having no.2, as i can carry one or the other. I tried out my friend's Ergo, and it was soooooo comfy, i loved it, it felt like i wasn't carrying anything! Roh loves being on my back  Although he does have a tendancy to swing from side to side alot, trying to peer round my shoulders :haha:

Well, i'm slightly put out, as i had a few little plans for tonight with OH, and just asked him what he wanted to do this evening, as its his birthday, and he says he wants to drink beer and play computer games with his friends online.... uuuhh, ok then, if thats really what he wants to do, i don't mind, i can catch up on the ironing and make some lists for what to pack for all these trips we have for the rest of the week. I just kinda thought he might want to spend the evening with me, but hey, its his birthday ...

Maybe: Don't worry about the breadcrumbs just let me know when you go so I can pay you back :hugs: I hope you get the cot on Wednesday and the sleep training goes well. Well done to Owen for settling without milk for the first time even if he woke up it was a good start:kiss:I can't believe your MIL wanted to give Owen lemonade :growlmad: he is a baby FFS!!! Good luck with the job interview hon :hugs: That's a great looking carrier! Hope you manage to convince him :hugs:

H&F: Hope you are ok hon :hugs:

Amy: Wow I can't imagine Bobby as an 11 year old! I am starting work in late April/May I will hopefully find out soon! Bobby has a favorite rabbit that he likes to sleep on! It's so so so cute! I am worried though because I bought the rabbit from mothercare when I was pregnant and I can't find another one anywhere! Well done to Alex for settling on his own :hugs:

Sarah: The pull out gate now stays closed! I still can't believe I did that :dohh: Glad your car was booked in the garage :happydance: We want to send Bobby to the private boys school that is near our home (7 min walk) so I might give them a call. I also don't want Bobby to go to religious school as we want him to choose which religion he would like to follow if any. I bought a bunch of stamps on Saturday from the post office because I heard they were going up. Apart from his bunny Bobby is also a lot more interested in climbing everything (including his parents) and pulling my hair! He pulls some I say "ow" and he pulls another bunch  We are getting the delightful screaming meltdowns and I have now advice. I had to let Bobby take a spoon with him in his bed during his morning nap when he screamed by my ear :dohh:

Emera: Congratulations on the phenomenal weight loss :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Emera: I went to a private British school with students from all over the world. We had a teacher (24)who went out with one of the students (18) from upper-sixth form and it didn't end well :nope: he lost his job and she was in trouble with her parensts :( He was British and she was Indian and her parents were not at all happy.

LC: That's such a gorgeous picture of Will. He is such a cutie  Good luck with the sleep training!

Frufru: I am so sorry to hear that hon! Was it about the sleep training? :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

sarah - :haha: I bet it looks fab in blue! It must be frustrating for the babies at this age, they know what they want but can only say dada mumum baba bubub! Alex hasnt had any tantrums from me taking things away yet but he does throw a mental every time I try and put him in his car seat! We get the back arching and screams! banana muffins sound yum!! how did the developmental check go? I need to get Alex's booked :hugs:

maybe - lemonade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great news about the interview  lucky Danny coming home to a roast at that time!

LC - thats great that Will had a good time at nursery  good luck with the night feed elimination! :flower:

frufru - I'm so sorry your break wasnt as you hoped and that your FIL was so negative. YOu must be glad to be home :holly::hugs::holly::hugs::holly::hugs::holly::hugs::holly:

emera - :dohh: that sounds like Kerry's ideal birthday :haha::dohh:hope you have a nice evening even if you are ironing to pack :flower:

modo - thats so cute that Bobby has a favourite rabbit teddy :cloud9:

well another day here, nothing to report really. we're just watching peep show, it cracks me up

Hi everyone sorry I have been so rubbish again. A belated Happy Mother's Day to you all.

:hugs: to H&F. Hope you are doing ok and have lots of close friends around you to give you support and hugs.

Sarah  at the blue stuff. We also get tantrums here too. He kind of bounces and says 'adda adda adda' or does this kind of spit cry thing where he purses his lips and makes a strange 'phhh phhhh' noise. That's so funny about the car and him not wanting to get out.

Emera where has the year gone? That's a lovely way to celebrate with a joint party. Is Roh the first of the babies to turn one? Are you going to do anything on the actual day? Hope you enjoyed your date! Well done on the amaxing weight loss.

Maybe can't believe he still hasn't gone and got you the cot! OMG lemonade  Good luck with your sleep training, hopefully some day soon you and Owen will get a few hours non broken sleep.

Frufru sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your tripand that you were all ill. Hope you are feeling better now.

Modo I sympathise with the hair pulling, though in our house if I say 'ow' all I get in response is a similar noise from Oliver then he does it more, and every time I say ow he does too  Have you looked on Ebay for the toy rabbit? You never know you might find one to keep as a back up.

Amy how cute that Alex was asleep hugging his teddy. Happy Birthday to your 'big baby' bet the time has really flown.

LC That's great he did well at nursery. good luck with the sleep training. Does Will still wake up lots? We still do a night feed but it is gradually getting later before he wakes for it (he now does from around 7pm-5am ish then goes back to sleep until anytime between 7am and 8am). Occasionally he wakes up more than once but doesn't want to feed, it's usually because he has farts or needs a cuddle (well nowadays he usually wants me to lean over his cot and play with his hair whilst he plays/pulls my hair ) Lovely picture too.

As for us things with my Mum have been lots better and she has even given me her shifts so it is much easier to spend time with her as I know when to keep time free. Hopefully things will continue to be ok, but only time will tell.

Oliver is crawling so fast now and loves nothing more than to get to his baby walker/ride on toy/stereo and start bashing at it until the music works! He sits and rocks or shakes his head to it, looks like he is dancing. It's so cute.

We really wanted to do a picnic in the park for Oliver's first birthday but if the weather is horrible then we haven't got the space here to have lots of babies round so we decided to go to one of the local soft play places. We are going to pay everyone in and the place have said they will do us a cake. Not having an official party there though as it costs around £6 per child (that includes food and a party bag so would be good for older kids).

Oh and we might be moving house soon :happydance: as we live in a one bedroom place but have seen a lovely two bed place so just waiting to see if we get it!

Evening!

Modo Have you been to look around the school just yet or put Bobbys name down? What age will he start there? You're really lucky its so close, the school we're looking at is about a 30 min drive from here (maybe more in rush hour :dohh:) but I'll be able to take Oliver and collect him so its not too bad. I'm going to try to arrange to go for a look around :) I'm glad its not only me with the screaming and tantrums :haha: Oliver takes random objects from the bath to bed with him most nights and I find them in random places  Its good to know I wasn't the only one stocking up on stamps too

Emera I'm sorry your OH decided he wanted to play online games :dohh: Thats such a Steve move, MEN!! :dohh: I made lots of little apple crumbles in the end, individual portions instead of a big one. I think I'll freeze some . . . I hope its okay to freeze them. God I'm hopeless!!!! Your MIL sounds really nice, even if she did feed Roh lots of cake :haha: Any pics of the Paddington Bear quilt? It sounds absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I'd absolutely LOVE someone to give Oliver something like that . . . but I think I'll have to make it my self :dohh:

Maybe your day sounds fun! You are far too good having a full roast cooked for 10pm after a full day with the kids!!! I would tell him to call for a take away :haha: I love the carrier!! You really need a secret bank account that Danny doesn't know about :haha:

FruFru I'm so sorry your trip didn't go well :hugs: :grr: to your FIL for having the cheek to critisise you!!!! You are amazing parents - and Joni always looks sooooo happy!!! I hope you're okay, huge :hugs: for you :hugs::kiss:

L-C thats great that Will is so good at nursery!! When are you back at work? Good luck with the comfort feeds, everything you're doing sounds good to me!

Well Oliver's developement check went well - he wasn't happy about getting naked though and screamed the place down :dohh: :haha: He now weighs 23lbs and the health visitor was really pleased with him. So it went really well, and we also got some free books

After that, we went for a coffee and then took a drive to Mothercare. Steve wants to get a more lightweight stroller. The Apple doesn't seem to sit really upright, so Oliver is always trying to sit more forwards if that makes sence? My friend has the same with her Peach, Modo do you find the same with the Cherry? I'm really not keen on the smaller strollers but we looked at the Maclaren Techno XT and it looked pretty good, and it was SO light! So we'll see, we might get one. But then when I was putting Oliver to bed I remembered that we still have the Silver Cross 3D in the loft, and the stroller is pretty good, so maybe we should just try that rather than buy another one? Or at least if we use it a lot then we know it'll be worth spending a few hundred quid on the Maclaren . . . hmmmm we'll see :dohh:

Amy & Muddles I missed your posts while I was writing :haha:

Amy I thought that too about how frustrating it must be for them, Oliver really chats away now but obviously in his on little language :haha: He also SCREAMS at the cat, everytime he sees her  Oliver throws a tantrum everytime I take things off him (usually stuff he shouldnt have rather than me just been a mean mummy :haha:) or if I move him from somewhere he shouldn't be, pick him up if he doesn't want picking up, put him down if he doesn't want putting down, change his nappy, etc etc  So most of the time :haha: :dohh: He arches his back, throws himself backwards and SCREAMS!

Muddles yay for moving!! How exciting!! is the new place quite close by to where you are now? I'm also soooo pleased that things with your mum are looking up, lets hope she keeps it up!!!

Oliver's new 'sound' is what I can only discribe as a growl :haha: He spent most of to day saying 'mama' in a really deep growl, Steve says it sounds like he's posessed  He did it really loudly all the way around Sainsurys today, which was funny and embarassing at the same time :haha:

Sarah
That's a great weight. Oliver was 22lb 4oz at his. He also screamed the place down (though I also heard the baby before him do the same). The free books taste quite nice apparently if the large bite mark out of the front of one is anything to go by!

I love our Micralite Fastfold buggy, and Oliver does too as it has a little screw thing that he can stick his finger in  and he no longer has to lean around mummy to see everything  It folds up quite small, reclines enough for a short nap (ha ha those days are long gone) and can be folded one handed.

LOL at his new sound, have you seen my fb video of Oliver shopping? I found it funny but not so sure the other shoppers did!

Yes the house is still in the same town but closer to the town, and a few doors down from my FIL. The bedrooms are a good size. It has a nice enclosed garden big enough for all sorts of toddler outdoor toys.

muddles :happydance: for a better house!

sarah - we have a maclaren xt and i had one with dylan. they are fab  if you dont want it to recline much the quest is also good, erin has one and it is lighter and smaller.

really want the carrier but know he's going to say it's a waste of money :dohh:

Muddles the Olivers sound so similar!! :haha: I will have a look at the video next time I can get online properly :dohh: I'll have a look at the buggy too!!

Maybe I wasn't keen on the smaller ones - I have a thing about little wheels :dohh: :haha: The xt seemed to have bigger wheels. I'm still not sure though :dohh:

Well I wrote my notice today so I'll post it later. Scarey and exciting!!!!

We have a birthday party on Saturday, my friends little girl is one :) We used to work together, so its nice that our babies are a similar ages.

Right, well Oliver is screaming at the cat again so I'd better go and rescue poor Kitty :haha:

sarah - poor kitty! :dohh: we are at my parents now and owen keeps crawling over to Baby (the cat) and trying to pull his fur :dohh:

danny was not too happy with the baby carrier suggestion but told me to do what i want and that i am obsessed with buying things

:hugs::hugs::hugs: to H&F, how are you? x

Sarah we have full on:hissy::brat: here to, I have been so surprised by it to. Will threw a massive one last night when I wouldn't give him milk.

Emera where abouts in Devon are you going? Thank you for your post, you never know if you are doing the right thing. Love the sound of the paddington blanket, that's so sweet of your MIL. Hope you OH had a nice evening, and you got your ironing done :dohh:

Maybe cvery nice carrier, I think the secret bank account sounds like a plan. Although if you are like me, I don't have enough for my actual account let alone another one

Frufru hope you and Joni recover very soon :hugs:

:holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly::holly:

Modo Will does the hair pulling thing and thinks it's really funny if I say "ow"

Amy that's good getting ALex down without BF, do you think he'll self wean and how do you feel about that? How is he getting on a nursery?

Muddles glad things are better with your Mum. I'm sorry it's not funny but reading it made me giggle, Oliver waking himself up farting bless him! He's in good practise for being a fully grown man xxx :haha:

Fingers crossed for you getting your new house!!

Well our night was interesting. Will went to bed with Daddy putting him down and it went well!

He then woke up at 1120 pm and I thought this is too early, he has been getting up this side if midnight for a while and could do longer as a new born.

I went in and tried to give him a cuddle and water. He's gone right off cuddles but took some water. I then put him back and holy moly did he kick off, arching his back and screaming, he cried for 5 mins so I went back in and gave calpol and more water and then put him back and the same. But he then started pausing so I left him and right before I was thinking right that's enough he went off, it took about half an hour in all. Half an hour later he tittered again, but went off then once more at 2 am, I would never have gone in for these before. He went through until gone 7 am :happydance::happydance:

No night feed, hopefully if I carry on he'll learn to stay sleeping, well in theory anyway.

He wasn't gagging for milk this morning either, so I didn't offer and he didn't ask (well try and rip my top off). I'm aiming for one bedtime feed and then at a year if not before I'll wean him off that one too. I say all this now but a horrible night would break me! I know he can do it now though and i think that's what I needed to establish.

that sounds like a yes to me maybe!! ha ha

Yay Maybe buy it buy it!!! It looks lovely, but wouldn't be any good for Oliver with those two positions - he's sooooo nosy he'd probably wriggle out trying to see stuff   it is very pretty though, what weight does it go up to?

L-C well done with last night!! Let's hope he gets better and better now :)

Sarah yay to your notice - hope it feels good! I'd love to stay at home with Will. And to your first, first birthday party, now that is scarily exciting.

I have mine tomorrow we are going to the ZOO!!!!!!! I can't wait x

LC - i need to try and sleep train owen. like will he used to sleep better as a newborn :dohh:

sarah - the carrier goes up to 45lbs i think. it is marketed for up to 4yrs

sarah - we ge the tantrums at nappy changes, I HATE nappy changes, especially poopy ones where he gets so angry he kicks his feet in the poop :haha::blush: we have an XT - I love it, Alex is so comfy in it and its great for buzzing about town or going for walks  fab news you've written your notice, handing it in will feel fantastic!!! :happydance:

maybe - :haha: when Kerry says do what you want to me I know he means I really dont want you to and if you do I will get angry :haha:

LC - Well done for getting Will to go through without milk  for Alex the falling asleep on his own was a fluke :haha: he had emptied me already and was messing about whereas he normally falls asleep on me. I do want him to be the one that weans himself but i know I'll be so sad when he does. Alex is loving nursery now! He's really happy and settled there  What shifts have they decided you have to work when you go back? x is it your birthday tomorrow? hope you have a fab time at the zoo :hugs:

muddles - I'm so pleased for you that things with your mum have improved :hugs: and great news about the house   to Oliver waking himself farting :haha:

well it was another boring day at work for me, job searching, eating too much and drinking lots of tea! x
