Maybebaby - I really admire how organised you are with all the different groups Erin and Dylan do, not to mention that you are also running a household and all with very little sleep. I do actually think that you might be wonderwoman!! I hope Owen gave you a better night last night after his BF.
Joni is very chatty but her babble is very hard to assign to anything yet. Do you think Owen's decipherable words have come along so quickly partly because he has Erin and Dylan around to copy?
Sarah - yep Joni is usually a biter too, but just recently she will sometimes let me have a feel around. Good news about the sandles helping Oliver walk a few more steps. Your Mum and Dad must have been so excited to see him.
Good luck babyproofing. I would advocate doing it before you need to, I am about a third of the way through doing my cupboards and have found the none of the standard baby locks really suit my cupboards and to get them to fit takes ages. Of course as Joni has already figured out how to open the cupboards this means I am often having to deal with tantrums when I stop her going in them
Luckily I bought her some new magnets for the fridge last week and so they are doing a reasonable job distracting her from the cupboards for the short term.
Bummer about the cooking group, I was looking forward to hearing about what you were making next to give me meal ideas
Awesome about the strawberry picking
You can't beat them fresh off the plant. I am still cropping the ones in the garden, we have had a big rain here over the weekend which seems to have given them a super-boost
H&F - how did playgroup go, were the Mum's reasonably friendly? I never did get around to posting on FB but rather belatedly HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I hope you had a lovely day
L-C - I am glad that the nights went ok for you, good to hear they are only every 5 weeks. I know what you mean about there being so many more teeth to go
Joni seems to be suffering so much and they are coming sooooooo slowly
I love the Forest Gump analogy
it sounds like he has got toddling nailed.
Mork - After your post about signing I have been trying to do them more with Joni. We have not done the signing classes, but I have seen enough Mr Tumble to have picked up quite alot :shhhhh:
For the moment hubby and I are working on the basis that Joni will be our only child. Hubby always wanted to be a Dad but never had an idea about how many kids we might have and says that he is quite happy for it to be just us three. I was always adamant I did not want children until about 4-5 years ago so never had any dreams about having a certain number of kiddies. I have to say I am content for it to remain just us three aswell. Of course I know that when my implant runs out in a few years (Joni will be about 3 1/2 I think) we will give the subject a talk over again.
Amy - Joni is the same, if I let her sleep past 3pm she is a devil to get into bed. Now she mostly takes just the one nap she is usually awake by 2.30pm at the latest so this has not been a problem and in fact we have had to put her to bed half an hour early some nights as she is so tired.
As for the beef, it was another Christmas day fiasco, where by the time it was cooked I was not very hungry anymore so ended up with a beef sandwich
It was lishcious tho
Good that you have got a car sorted, which reminds me I really must book a service and MOT for mine. I have always used the dealership I bought it from but now 7 years on they are charging approximately £300 which seems so steep. The Jazz is not a new model of car anymore so I am happy to take it to a regular garage to be looked at but just need to find a trustworthy one
I hope you managed to get the coursework done without your eyes falling out.
We have had a couple of rough days here. Joni is running her super-teething temperature again, is snotty, drooling beyond belief, refusing food/milk and is so so miserable bless her. Even without the other symptoms, I know how out of sorts Joni is because she has been crawling round after me and pulling up to stand on my legs all the time whilst saying Mmmm Mmmm Mama. She only ever does that when she feels really bad
At night when she does finally get to sleep she only goes down for 40-90mins at a time and often fidgets and cries in her sleep. It does not help that she will more often than not refuse calpol/calprofen
Yesterday afternoon I looked after my friends little girl who is a week younger than Joni. Poor Joni was so under the weather she just sat in my lap all afternoon watching her friend play with all her toys. Her little friend kept coming up and stroking her head when she cried
Joni did perk up a little bit after they had their tea and they had a nice play together.
I had some stonking news yesterday. One of my very best friends has just got her
this is so amazing as she has been seeing the fertility consultant at the hospital this month with a view to starting treatment next January. She miscarried her first pregnancy and has being trying to concieve for more than two years since with no joy so that she has managed to fall without help is super-duper. It is of course very early days, but still
I am so excited to tell you all as she is only telling me another friend until she gets the all clear at her first scan so I can't shout it out from the rooftops or mention it on facebook like you know I want to
Well above was this mornings post and here I am at the end of the day and still not finished
Joni had a good nap today (heaven knows why can't she sleep like that at night
) though has still refused any substantial food all afternoon. SHe is currently still up, but has decided to nibble on a rusk so at least she will have something other than fruit and milk in her tummy at bedtime. I don't buy rusks anymore but came across an unopened packet in the cupboard and remembered how they can be sucked rather than bitten/chewed and thought I would see if Joni would give them a second look and she has
I know they are not the most nutritious foodstuff but I am just relieved to see her eat anything right now!
We have had the afternoon at my friends house with her little boy and the little girl I looked after yesterday and her Mummy. Joni has still been very cuddly and fretful but I think she enjoyed the change of scene and good company, as did I.
Once the rusk is done I will see if I can get her to sleep in her own bed so I can do the chores before hubby gets home later. I am at work tomorrow night for my first late shift. It will be the first time I have had a full day's Joni and then had to go to work aswell, hopefully I will get 5 hours
tonight which should see me through.
to you all.
