Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Hey ladies, hope you've all had a good weekend ?
We are getting T a supermarket play set for xmas as she loves shopping! (and also her and E will be able to play with it together when old enough) and for E we have are going to get a ride on for the summer as all T's baby toys are good enough to still be used.
Btw we are still not potty trained :( T is just not interested!!!
x

Hello lovely ladies sorry I am so rubbish at posting here. Seem to find it hard to grab a minute to myself as when one goes to sleep in the afternoon the other usually wakes up then at night time once both kiddies are asleep I need to do the dishes/sort washing....

We are all doing well, K is 7 weeks old now and has slept from 8:30pm or thereabouts until around 6:30am the past 4 nights which is quite a surprise as O didn't sleep right through the night at all until the week before his first birthday! She feeds less than her brother did, but must be getting enough otherwise she wouldn't be gaining weight. She was 12lb 7oz last week.

O is loving his baby sister, is very sweet with her, and often kneels down on the floor beside her to talk to her and when she was crying yesterday he came over and held out his most favourite teddy for her to look at, it was so sweet it made me want to cry  He is already excited about Christmas and wants every toy he sees so goodness knows what he will be like when Christmas actually arrives as he is already talking about Santa, trees with chocolate on, new toys...

As for me I am starting dieting tomorrow as I am so fed up of having hardly any clothes to wear as my maternity ones are of course way too big now but my normal ones are too tight so I end up wearing the same few outfits. I have lost 2 stone since giving birth but am left with about a stone and a half to lose still, so would like that gone by Christmas.

For Christmas we are going to get O a CD player with a microphone and a couple of CDs as he loves to sing. Also going to do him a stocking with things like little cars, bubbles, chalks... For K we are going to get the Fisher Price animal train and do her a stocking with a couple of teethers, bowl, plate, cup, spoons.

If others ask for ideas for O then we are going to suggest role play things (like a till, doctors set, dressing up, tools....) or games like Elefun, Chameleon Crunch... or storybooks as he loves reading. For K we are going to suggest clothes in bigger sizes (6 months plus) or storybooks.

Hope you are all well.
Sarah-hope Oliver is feeling better soon, oh and Ilove looking at all the wedding photos you add on FB. The chairs always look so pretty.
Maybe- that's so annoying that places wont deliver to you but good your sister will help out by bringing stuff to you.
Modo and LC- Hello
Emera- Ow that sounds painful breaking your nose how did you do that? Hope F is over her reaction to the injections. SUre Roh will get over his stranger anxiety as he gets older. O likes to pretend that he is shy and will often cover up his face if someone talks to him even if he has just been talking to them but then at other times he is really confident. Like when we went to a restaurant and each time the waiter came over he was asking for things-crayons, pizza, juice, dessert... then was saying 'thank you man for my....' everytime the waiter walked past our table
Mork- we haven't potty trained O yet-he knows what the potty/toilet is for, has chosen 'big boy pants', and knows if he uses his potty or the loo then he will get to flush it but he says no if you ask him if he wants to wear pants instead of a nappy or he does wear them then wees in them like a nappy so am thinking will leave it until after Christmas (unless he shows signs of being ready before then). Is E sick a lot? K is a really sicky baby since she had her tongue tie snipped and it seems like loads that comes out, thankfully it doesn't seem to bother her once it's out though she is grizzly for a little while before it comes and fusses as if she is trying to feed but then when she does she starts retching and gagging then sometimes deals with it and isn't sick and other times she projectiles everywhere.
H&F- hope Amy feels better soon. The camera sounds like a good idea and something she can use for a long time.

Sorry if I missed anyone, I'm off to bed. Hope you are all well. xx

Muddles, F used to sick up a lot, it seemed lke such big volumes. I think she was just a greedy feeder though! Its fine now, she's not sick very often anymore now she's bigger. Oh and Roh broke my nose!! He threw a large wooden toy at me because he didn't want to tidy up and it hit me on the nose in a bad spot and fractured it. :dohh: its definitely coming up at his wedding that one!!

Just to say its really good to hear from everyone! :hugs: Its been too quiet in here, I miss our chat! Xxx

Hey everyone! Lovely to hear from everyone!

Emera how is your nose? I banged my head yesterday - on a chair when I was setting up a wedding :dohh: goodness knows how I did it but it hurt lol! And today I have a lovely bump :haha:

Mork we're not potty training yet, I'm still waiting for the signs lol! My friend waited until her little boy was three and it went really well for them, so she has given me the confidence to wait until he's ready

Well I have been offered a place in the shop! Not for my brooches as they have someone who does felt brooches already, but for my craft kits and my button bouquets. They have a pop up shop for a week so I think I'll give it a try! I just need to make a few more bouquets up. After that I can stay on in there shop but there is a weekly fee plus commission (the pop up shop is just commission). So I'll give it a try and see how it goes I think. If you work in the shop you get reduced rates / commission but I can't really do that at the moment. But it might be good exposure anyway :) So that's quite exciting, but means I have a lot of bouquet making to do lol!

Sarah, my nose looks fine, and doesn't hurt anymore unless I press it :haha: it does have an uneven feel to the bone now though, which is new.
Congratulations on getting in to the shop! X

I was surprised Roh was ready for potty training, I fully expected to wait until he was three! Its still a bit of a dash if we are out, when he says he needs a wee!

Considering cutting Roh's hair as even though he's dressed like a boy people assume he's a girl because of his hair, and he's quite pretty! hmmm... I love his hair though! :(

Hi

Sarah that's great news about the shop! I've had a look at the innotab and think I might steal your idea, they look great. It'll be perfect for Granny and Grandad to get. We're the same on the potty training front. Although Will always takes it off after tea and before bed. Been really successful then, although yest we had two accidents, the first for months duh!

Muddles, you sound like you're nailing it! And very good nights sleep. Ava was doing great (up once), then 4 months to the day, she was up every half and hour, the past two nights have been better thankfully, but still up twice. Still she really is cute enought to get away with it! She is also pretty sicky, not something I had with Will, I always think it's good as it shows the wind is up, think she just takes on too much.

Emera - hope your nose is feeling better, def go to town at his wedding ha ha. How is F sleeping now? Ava hardly naps, usually has 3 half hour naps a day......

Mork, glad you have T shopping til she drops, although it'll cost you a fortune when she's a teenager lol.

Will is going through a hideous phase, just won't do anything he is told and plays up so much. DH and I are going to have a sit down to make sure we're being consistent to see if that helps. Not sure what else to do other than ride it out. Just to tantrumy, think his lack of speech doesn't help, saying that it is coming faster now.

What are you all doing about naps, Will so needs his but sometimes refuses, which leads to a very tired boy and lots more tantrums, it's a vicious circle. He still needs an hour and a half to two hours. It's a lot about catching him at the right time. But he's just such a mess if he misses it x

muddles, just had a right result picked up elefun in a charity shop for £1.75!! He loves it too xxx

LC, Roh had a phase like that. He's easier now, although I don't know if that's because we manage him better or not. I can recommend the book Toddler Taming. Its helped me. As far as Roh's naps, even if he won't sleep I make him stay in his room with the blinds shut for at least an hour. It gives him (and me) time to reset.
F isn't a great sleeper. She has usually a 2 hour nap and a 1 hour nap in the day. Evenings can be dreadful. Some days 'm still trying to get her to sleep at 11pm. She's always up at least 2 times. like Ava though she's cute with it. :)
Oh we are about to put our house on the market and move to Devon, so we'll be pretty local! We are looking around in Newton Abbott area, but not so much in the town itself.

oh wow not far from us at all!! Will see if I can get hold of that book. Those naps sound great, has she always had long naps or has she settled into them recently?

99p on ebay, just ordered a copy x

She's sort of settled into doing those naps over the last couple of months, previously she was roughly doing 2 long naps and a short nap per day. It did all go to pot, but I have started clock watching a bit so I make sure I'm putting her down to nap exactly 2 hours after she gets up, then she sleeps longer I find and goes down more easily. X

I was thinking of making a photo book for our parents for Xmas. It's also my mums 70th bday in December and Danny's mums 60th just days apart!

We're completely potty trained. At night Owen wears a nappies but generally it's dry. Sod's law the day he went to he'd without a nappy he wet the bed so an sticking to nappies for a while longer at night!

LC- my kids have killer tantrums! They are constantly vying for attention that I cannot usually give them as after work I have the dinner/flat to sort out. It doesn't help that I am the only one who seems to do any cleaning/clearing. It's annoying. I'd understand if I was a SAHM but I'm not. I work full time too! Spent the evening marking baseline assessments too and now the kitchen to clean as though Dan cooked cleaning is just not on his radar!

Emera- who's the author of the toddler taming book?

Sarah - great news about the shop sticking your crafts! :)

Muddles - glad O is so nice with K :)

H&f - your pics on fb are lovely :)

Catch u all soon. Going to have a cuppa then tidy up and Ho to bed as it almost 11pm already!

Hey Muddles, glad all is good with you. O sounds similar to T - has all the equipment, knows what its all for but just lacks the desire to use it!!! E isnt sick a lot, but does sick up and dribbles lots of clear fluid (which my HV said is a sign of reflux) Does K have trouble with letting go of wind? We have an awful time trying to get E to burp.

Mork, glad you have T shopping til she drops, although it'll cost you a fortune when she's a teenager lol.
L-C - tell me about it!!!! She fleeced her grandparents for a new dress in m&s yesterday!!!

Mork we're not potty training yet, I'm still waiting for the signs lol! My friend waited until her little boy was three and it went really well for them, so she has given me the confidence to wait until he's ready
sarahwoo - that has helped me have the confidence to wait till T is ready - must admit I have got caught up in what everyone else's toddler is doing!!

SO good to hear from more of us recently!! xxx

Mork Owen is potty trained but Dylan was over 2 1/2 before I started trying with him and it took ages, especially poos, he pooed in his pants for about a year! It was awful! Erin on the other hand was about 2y8m and got it straight away! 1 accident only! I was glad I waited. Tbh I only potty trained Owen coz he wanted it. I'd have happily waited! They are all different.

Muddles Dylan was a really sicky baby like you describe with K! I used to take out at least 3 changes of clothes when I went out! He grew out of it though!

Argh, I've been up since half past four!!!! That's not morning!!!!! Urgh!! Yesterday at about half five Steve decided he needed to go to buy a card (it's my birthday today) and my step son needed to take some photos for a project. So I said Oliver and I would stay at home because it was almost tea time, and Oliver hadn't napped so would go to bed at about seven. Steve got grumpy and kept asking Oliver if he wanted to go out - obviously he did so we ended up going with them. To cut a long story short by the time we got home Oliver was so tired that I cooked tea but he was so tired that he had a total meltdown, and I ended up taking him to bed. So he had no tea :dohh: He's been waking up all night feeding (because he was hungry) and then at half four he was wide awake so we got up and he gobbled up some porridge. He's watching a programme about sea birds now :haha: and I'm hoping he'll snuggle on the sofa for a nap soon because I'm shattered! We were going to try to have since day out today for my birthday but unless he gets some sleep he's just going to be tired out. I'm so tired I could cry

Arhhh you poor thing Sarah, Happy Birthday really hope he naps for you. Ava woke at 4:30 I was feeding her and have a cough, she freaked out when I coughed as she was feeding and wouldn't feed again and was awake until 6 am. Then Will woke at 7 am and woke her urghhhhh
