Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

We had our Day 10 midwife visit today. She weighed Isaac and he now weighs 8.3. He was 8lb at birth, 7.9 on day 5 so we're really pleased.

Other than that, he is still being a really good baby. He HATES being naked and having his nappy changed and loves his milk!!! :winkwink:

I'm taking him to see all my work mates tomorrow, which should be fun. As a friend said, it'll take me hours to get around everyone because of all the "twitching uteruses" wanting to touch my son PMSL!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Nicola xx

Glad baby is growing nicely! You aren't worried about bringing him around all those people just yet? I don't want anyone touching my lo until he is older and has a better immune system! Course - I'm a bit paranoid...

lol ollie hates bein naked too..

i had my 1st paranoid moment about people touchin him when a wee snotty girl walked passed n held onto my pram in Tesco today i was thinkin of a way to move her hand but thankfully her mum got there 1st lol thats bad isnt it!

hmmm so logansmama dont u think the snugglenest is worth it then..theres a 3 week wait to get a new one anyway so we should have settled into some kinda bed routine...either ollie will be ok in the moses basket or ill be more confident with him in the bed xx

o n i didnt mean at all that you didnt think Formula Feeders shouldnt co-sleep sorry if it came across that way xx

helllloooo ladies!

i can finally post in here without feeling like a stalker lol

As some of you know i had baby Harrison on friday afternoon by elective c-section weighing a shocking 9llb 1oz, i was sure he was going to be less than 8llb! lol measured 51cms, not sure if thats long or not tho?

I was sent home sunday and should be getting my staples out tomorrow, so not looking forward to that. Also Harrison will be having his heel prick test done and i guess his weight done, be interesting to see how much weight he has lost because he isnt feed ing as much as i thought he would, altho im going by what Sophie would have when she was born (a greedy 4oz within her 1st week) Harrison will have about 1-2ozs every 2-4 hours, atm we are feeding around 3 hour gaps in the day and sometimes he needs a little top up half an hour-hour later, we have been told to wake him up for a night feed untill he starts taking more in the day.

Im a bit concerned he hasnt had a poo today, thinking he might be a little constipated which i was worried would happen when we started using SMA, we started on cow and gate in the hospital but he wouldnt take to that at all so changed to SMA which he will eat but now seems to struggle with wind and like i said hasnt pooed today, all the other poos arent your normal runny ones either. so will be asking the midwife about that tomorrow.

Im also considering breastfeeding now, i decided to not do it originally because with my daughter i didnt produce anything for a few weeks so thought id be the same this time around... ohhh no thats not the case! my boobs are in full leak mode, i was walking around my bedroom this morning with no top or bra on and they leaked onto my foot and carpet! so that will be another question for the MW tomorrow.

congrats on the birth of Harrison! my wee boy has been the same on SMA with the poos..well he has done a poo everyday but struggles to get them out his wee eyes water and he has a bit of a wind issue at night time he is really hard to burp but during the day not so bad (STRANGE!) Anyways i spoke to the HV about this today and she said its common with SMA but not to change his milk just now as hes young and that can really bung them up she did say it was safe to give him some cooled boiled water so it doesnt become proper constipation (tho dont just take my word for it by any means def check with your own MW) i really thought they had to be a little older for water...hope all goes well with your staples coming out!

TMI but i had a look "down there" for the 1st time since birth today i was so scared i was shakin but the epi seems to be healing up well can see where ive been stitched and its still a little swollen but overall doesnt look as hideous as i thought it would which has given me a wee boost i was feeling a bit voilated with all that had happened during Ollie's birth :) thats all i have to report heehee xx

jolou- I said it in the other post, and I'll say it here too! TRY breastfeeding... don't wait. The sooner you get started, the better! :) Its soooo worth a shot!

Hey Ladies... think it's time I stopped lurking in 3rd tri and moved over to baby club now... This thread is a good idea logansmama towards the end of my pg I slept my life away and didn't use BnB that much so it'll be nice seein how the other April ladies are gettin on!!
I was due April 10th with a yellow bump and after a traumatic labour (only the pushing part tbh) baby Tah'Sean was born on the 14th april weighing 8lb 3oz He's a happy lil boy who's 3wks today and tryin to find his voicebox lol
He sleeps durin the day and plays at night... I'm breastfeeding and co-sleeping which actually wasn't planned but i've been doin it since his dad started work again! Now I love doin it coz wen he's in his cot I don't sleep comfortably but wen he's next to me I feel more at ease... There's so much I didn't plan to do that jus came about and now i'm lookin forward to all the new experiences with him =)
Hope all you other ladies are gettin along well :hugs:

Little update from us....Rosa had her tongue tie separation yesterday and was as good as gold having it done. Heard her cry not long after doctor took her to do it in the next room....though apparently it was actually her getting wrapped up in the blanket before the procedure that caused her to have a hissy fit. She was as calm as you like when she came back into the room a couple minutes later and promptly guzzled her bottle happily and zonked out for a nap :happydance::happydance:

kitten - glad the tongue un-tying went well! i have no idea what that entails... but it sounds like it must not be pleasant... so glad she handled it well for you!

So today we ventured out to our first baby group. We went to rhymetime at the library! Some might say she is a bit young, but have to start somewhere. More an excuse to get me out the house to meet people! And also if i get her used to all the noise she wont be scared of it later!
Anyway i had a really good time singing along! It made me giggle! Freya enjoyed the first song and then fell asleep! Slept the rest of the way through! Im sure she will get into it eventually!

Monday im going to my first breastfeeding cafe, and weds im going to a baby group at a surestart centre where they are doing clay prints of hands and feet so that will be nice!

Any one else getting out and about yet?

Oh we are absolutely getting out and about!

Minikat - I love the sound of that Rhymetime, i must look up whats on locally!

We go for a walk every day, rain or shine. Rohan loves his buggy and the carrier too, he particularly seems to like all the new leaves on the trees, I put him on a blanket when we get to the park and he stares up at the leaves :)

Went to the cafe my husband works in these last few days, its great, totally full of mums breastfeeding, so even though i'm not with a group we all get chatting anyway :) I also went to the breastfeeding drop in group at my MW centre, they love having BF mums that are doing well there, and its nice to give little bits of advice to the other girls, I'm probably not that helpful, but i hope at least i can give them encouragement :)

Went out for a tapas lunch today with the girls from my NCT group (well the 2 that are still mobile and still pregnant, one is laid up with edema poor girl, and the other 3 are recovering from emergency c-sections, not great luck in my group...) It was lovely, Roh is always soo well behaved, and hell they make me realise i totally don't miss being pregnant!

I love taking Roh out, I'd go mental if i didn't get out the house each day, and we always go in his awake time, so he can have a good look at the world :) Think we might go swimming in the next week or so, to celebrate his due date :haha: I have a feeling he'll really love it...I'll let you know

:hugs::hugs::hugs: to you all!

we're the same always out and about even if its only a walk round the estate i like Ollie to get some fresh air xx

Hey ladies, hope you all don't mind me stopping by. I finally had my little girl after going eight days overdue - she was determined to be a May baby!! OH and i adore her and are getting to grips with being new parents, but since I'm the first of my friends to have a baby, it's nice to be able to share this stuff with other mummies!!

:hugs:

Emera - we cant wait to try swimming either, although i think you cant go until they have had there jabs! Plus im not sure if im confident to get my body out yet!

Getting out and about is so good for all though! Mum and baby alike!

Freya is changing so much, she is really alert and lovely! Big eyes and lots of noises!!

My health visitor, doctor and all the leaflets i was given say that its not true about needing jabs before you take baby swimming, they say that whenever you feel like it or feel that baby is ready or might enjoy it is just fine. :)

Ah, i'm not sure about flashing my body either, but then saying that i never had an amazing body before i got pregnant, so hey, maybe i'll just swallow my pride and go for it! :haha:

I know what you mean about the changing fast as well, Roh seems to be a little bit more alert each day, he's really fascinated with the world :)

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Hi ladies... I'm a little worried about Dillon. Not sure if he just spits up a lot, or if he has reflux. Still trying to figure it out. My neice had it bad when she was a baby... her mom was telling me how to tell the difference, but I'm still unsure. Sometimes he spits up and is just fine about it, but other times he seems really unhappy about it.

I hope he outgrows it soon, cause I hate to see him with a tummy ache!

Logans mum- I found Freya was like this after a couple of feeds and then figured i wasnt winding her enough, now i wind her mid feed when she takes a break, as well as after the feed. Found that really helped!

minikat - thanks. I have been trying to burp him more often... but it seems like the SECOND I move him, he spits up. I just dont know!

Aww that sounds really good! I went to town on Tuesday...needed to get some new clothes for Finley as everything swamped him, and also some BF-friendly clothes for me. To be honest I think it was a bit soon [8 days] as I was soooo sore afterwards :( I had an episiotomy and forceps which seem to have really bruised me...it's not even the epi that hurts! Got home and got straight into a salt bath then had a nap

Wow lucky you! I'm yet to find any BF-friendly cafes...I was told the baby changing rooms in the local shopping centre have curtained off areas for feeding, but once I got there [and Finley's nappy had leaked and he was screeching!] the door was locked and I ended up having to use a regular changing room :(

I'm really looking forward to going swimming...I've seen these square inflatable seat things to put the baby in, so I think I'll wait until he can properly support his head so I can use one :)

On the plus side, I've somehow already lost almost 2st! I think a lot of it must have been fluid retention as my face/hands/ankles were pretty swollen, and when they broke my waters they did say there was quite a lot...but still, I'm pleased :D

I was lucky that when HV here came to do first visit she had a list of all the places that were BF friendly, pity I had already had to stop doing it, but was great to see so many places in our town that were open for mums that are.

Would also love to start going swimming with my lil ones but it is going to be impossible unless I can persuade one of my friends to come with me so there is also an adult to have Mia in the pool. Or do it on different days so OH can come with as he works 6 on, 3 off shifts.

Discovered a new little thing for my small family, no TV on during the day. Rosa has always seemed to be unsettled during the day (evenings are a pain anyway) but this morning as part of her big sis new routine (she had become obsessed with cartoons lately and bad mommy for allowing it for peace from tantrums) TV is off and we have the radio on. So far Rosa has slept for 2 solid hours and seeing as this last few days she has been feeding every 2-3 hours with wants for cuddles inbetween I will actually be able to get some housework done while eldest is up in his room reading his new transformer books and Mia plays with her toys.

Also doing the housework in my heels....the one pair I own that seem to still be a findable pair. Feet will likely kill but already felt the effect it has on my legs and stomach muscles, may even work up to getting the Pussycat Dolls DVD or similar and try and tone my legs up for the summer :haha: though likely that will not happen to the point I will willingly run around in small summer dresses or short shorts much to my OH disappointment lol

I was told not to swim, take baths, or have sex for 6 weeks. I thought that was standard for everyone that had just given birth. Hmmmm...

As far as weight loss goes - I gained 50 lbs. I have lost 29 so far... 21 to go to get where I was - 35 to get to where I want to be!
