Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

That's fab Katie about Daisy's weight, nice healthy girl. Eat lots of speed foods Katie and you will be fine!

that diet sounds horrid!! i did slim fast once, many many many years ago before they brought out all the extra things like soup lol and altho i lost weight quick i felt drained and sick so thats when i joined weight watchers and have the most success with it after sophie was born, 4 stone in less than a year! and thats with holidays and nights out etc.

and wowzers bex 6-9 months clothes!! i thought harrison was big being in his 3-6 months at 2 months old lol tho he had been in his sleepsuits for a lot longer, even his 3-6 sleepsuits are looking a bit stretched.

been to the docs with sophie and he has given another type of steroid to use for a week only and i have to go back next week with her, he also said he has sent an email or something to the specialist saying we arent doing sophie any favours keeping her waiting for sooo long because of how bad it is.

ive been to get weighed and lost 3 1/2llb!!! wooohooo not bad since i been out all weekend lol 2llb more to go and its my first stone yay!!.

roll on 3:15 when mr moo has his injections and weigh in..

hello, just a quickie!

Katie what a stupid nurse!! :dohh:

Bexxie and Katie - well done on your chunky monkeys

Jolou - well done on the weight loss

Muddles - Oliver is gorgeous!

well Alex had a temp and didnt sleep all night but he's OK today :) hope Harrsions jabs go ok Jo :hugs:

Muddles: Great thinking re the pram :) And you are right about Oliver - tummy time is now rolling time! Every time I pop him on his belly he rolls over within about five seconds :haha: Thats great that Oliver has taken to his cot so well, not sure what you could do re him getting his legs through the bars though - could you somehow fasten some kind of net on the cot which would let the air through but not the legs lol?! Or could you just put a really low bumper on, like if you cut a normal bumper downand sewed it up. So the bottom bit of the bars would be covered but air could get in over the top? I'm glad Oliver's feeling better, my Oliver gets a stuffy nose and we bought a humidifier which really helps, though its been so humid at night lately we haven't had it on. My Oliver likes to cough in my face too - especially when hes got a mouth full of milk :haha: Love the pics, hes a stunner :)

Bexxie Harry is such a fab weight! These May babies like there food dont they! Oliver gets weighed on Friday, I cant wait to find out what he weighs!! He's still in 0-3, but I doubt he will be for long! I have some gorgeous 0-3 outfits that hes hardly worn, a friend bought some really cute stuff from Next and gave me a gift recipt, I wish I'd swapped them for 3-6 now cos hes only worn them a couple of times - but they were soooooo cute!!!!

The Cambridge Diet sounds absolutely horrible!!!! I'm so afraid of messing up my milk supply, I want to loose weight but if i ment giving up breaskfeeding I'd be heartbroken. I'm really enjoying it now, I really want to keep going until 6 months. So I'm making sure I'm eating plenty, but just trying to cut out the crap.

Katie I have found co-sleeping to be amazing, I just love it. Are you wanting to co-sleep full time? Let me know if you need any info. Hope you're doing okay :hugs:

Jolou well done with the weight loss!!! And :hugs: to Sophie, I hope shes better soon, must be horrible. I hope Harrisons injections went well.

Well we went to Mothercare today and bought some wrist rattles, Olivers like a one man band with those and his feet finders!! Also bought these as Oliver can hold them properly:
https://www.mothercare.com/Motherca...ing=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42874041&mcb=core

While we were in Mothercare I had a look at the prams. Steve had said that we didnt need parent facing - well I know we dont NEED it but it didnt hurt to look. We saw the mothercare spin and I showed Steve parent facing etc, so he said well lets see what other ones also do it. So off he toddles and finds a Bugaboo Chameleon and spent absolutely ages playing with it - I think because its got lots of gadgety blokey type things like suspension lol! So now he's not so against it, but he was a bit shocked when he found out the price of the Bugaboo's!! I would be happy with an e-bay one though, but I prefer the ICandy.

Just a quick question, do any of you ladies use reusable nappies? How do you find them?

Evening ladies!

Hubby is on the late shift tonight and is getting Chloe ready for bed so I thought I would pop on here for five mins!

Congrats to all of those with chunky monkies! Chloe is only just in 0-3 clothes.. I feel like we are trailing way behind but suspect she will nearly weigh 11lbs tomorrow at her weigh in!

And we got through her first round of injections without much trauma... although the following day we have lots of green pooh nappies?!??

Jo.. congrats on the weight loss, that is a great result :)

Sarah.. we also spent about £600 on the Icandy!

Katie.. good luck with the co sleeping! Since we moved Chloe into her own room and mini cot she has been sleeping through from about 11pm until 5.30/6.00am :happydance:

Daisy used to sleep through :( but now she doesn't. I don't know what to do about the co sleeping. I'm going to try her in her cot in her own room soon in case it's a space issue or me waking her up.. I can't decide what to do, I mean I don't think I want to co sleep, although I love it, it's not something I'd want to do long term, particularly if Vinny and I do manage to work things out as he sleeps too heavily.
PG, Chloe is fab :cloud9: I kind of wanted Daisy to be little- not sure why, I think so she looked newborn for longer

I think I'm a secret man Sarah, I love gadgets  maybe why I love the Chameleon!
Glad Chloe's injections went okay, Daisy is having hers on Friday now. I phoned my family nurse and told her what happened and she offered to take over doing Daisy's immunisations because the HV at my surgery is a horror :)
Well done Jo, that's fab xxx

Alex comes in our bed after his 4am ish feed. Poor lad is a bit all over the place. I put him to bed in his cot. Then when he wakes (normally around 1/2am) I put him in his moses basket. then our bed.

I cant imagine when he'll sleep through *sigh*.

PG - glad Chloe was OK with her first jabs :hugs:

Katie - good news on sorting Daisy's jabs.

I had to buy ALex 3-6 months clothes today, he's long but skinny. I've tried tummy time for him after seeing Sarah and katie's fab fb pics but he just cries and coughs!

Its my birthday tomorrow. 32 :cry::cry: I still feel 18! On a positive note I read women are considered to be at their most attractive in their 30s :haha::winkwink:

I am really rambling, night all xx

I went out tonight! :happydance:

It was a friend from work's leaving do so i went along, it was nice, but actually i missed Roh, is that weird?
Anyway, OH did the full bedtime thing, he does it most nights so i figured he'd be fine. I left 300ml of milk, just incase Roh got extra hungry. Well i got back at 10.45pm and Roh was still awake!! :dohh: He'd drunk all the milk i left, but i was so suprised as he's usually asleep by 9pm at the latest these days. I felt all sorry for my OH, thinking he'd been trying to get him off to sleep for 2 hours, but it turned out he was up playing with him until 9pm  and only started the bath after 9pm... honestly, why can't they stick to the routine ...men. Anyway no harm done i gave Roh a hug and popped him to bed, he was asleep in minutes, OH asked me "how do you make him do that?" :dohh: well i put him down and stop playing with him....strange man

The expressing is going well, thanks for asking Muddles, i'm getting about 300ml each evening now, so i'm freezing some of it, and Roh takes about 200-220mls in the evening bottle he has.

I'm really pleased he's now 12lb 5oz. Still little for 14 weeks, but good for him :) He's really filling out his 0-3 clothes now :)

Oh and Sarah, i'm still using reusable nappies, i find them really good, infact the times i do use disposables (usually if i'm strip washing the cloth ones as i do all of them at once) i find i get more leaks, especially with poos. In fact my sister in law came over and saw Roh's nappies and got nappy envy, when i saw my neice last week she was in reusables  its infectious!

God i really need to diet. :nope: Well done to those losing weight! :happydance:

:hugs:

Happy birthday A3my!!! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

I'm 32 this year also, its a good age! :flower:

Happy Birthday Amy!!

Emera which reusables do you have? I'm really tempted to give them a try, there is no way I could have managed to begin with but now I think I could. Our local council does the Real Nappy Campaign thing so you can get a starter / trial pack for free, so I think I'll get that and see what I think. I guess I could just use them part time to begin with?

happy birthday amy!!!

katie it may be a space issue for daisy? i know harrison would wake up in the night in his moses basket, as soon as i put him in the cot he slept alot better.

Harrison didnt have his jabs in the end, he had a slight temp, it was 37.1 so the HV decided to be cautious and leave it till next week, she also thinks he is teething and thats why he might have a temp, we can see 2 little white dots appearing on his bottom gums, cant feel them but can see them... my little boy is growing up too quick! She did weigh him tho and he is now 13llb7oz so he aint so chunky monkey anymore, i think its because i wasnt giving him enough milk, for about a week he was draining his bottles but didnt seem to need more so left them at 6oz untill tuesday when i upped the amount to 7oz and he drained them yesterday!! im seeing if he drains those today.. greedy thing, the way its going i might have to start giving a little baby rice at 4 months! the HV agreed so im not going mental lol

Happy birthday Amy
I need to learn to drive! This rain is making life sooo hard!

Happy Birthday Amy... I was 32 on Monday!!

I again have to apologise, I have been reading all your posts but never get the chance to actually up date until the conversation has moved on! Our computer is upstairs and Will doesn't often sleep during the day and if he does it's in another room and we have a large dog who I'n quite nervous about and end up staying with the baby - unless he's in our room which has a lock and sleeping in his cot didn't last!

Will had his injections yesterday and was very brave, recovered very quickly after the first only for the second, which he didn't find very funny at all bless him. Was fine for the rest of the day really. his leg went red and was warm so I gave him calpol in case it hurt.

Last night I fed him at 7:30 pm and he slept from about 9 - 4 am, then took an hour to feed and go back off and then wass unsettled and in with me until about 8 am.

we went to sing and sign yesterday after his jabs, which I wondered if it was bit mean really, he was really good and fell asleep half way through. We have signed up for it in January...

I am planning on taking Will swimming next week, my Mum is a swimming teacher and takes Mum's and Babes classes and so we are going with Nannie!

Hope all is well with you, will try and get on more as my DH is off this week and next xxx

Sarah, i have a mix of totsbots, which i use with motherease airflow wraps and fuzzibunz all in ones which have an insert you put into them. I have some totsbots bamboo ones for 6+ months which should be good overnighters as they are very absorbant. I put a fleece liner in all of them, even though technically you don't need to use a liner with the fuzzibunz as they are fleece lined already. They are great as they wick all the wetness away from his skin. I find he's just as dry as when we use the disposables. When its a pooey one i just change him asap and rinse the liner out under the shower. I have some disposable liners for when he starts doing more grown up poos later on which you just flush down the loo. They aren't great for runny poos though!
I've got quite a few friends who use half and half. They tend to use disposables overnight and when they go out and then reuables the rest of the time. Which ones are good for you very much depends on the shape of your baby, and i have a few totsbots ones that are a different shape and don't seem to fit Roh very well at all. From what i know the reusables you can get from mothercare and the starter sets yo can get aren't quite as good, but thats only from other peoples comments, i've never tried them myself. My favourites are the fuzzibuns, they are the easiest to use and the nicest looking. They also don't give Roh a giant bum (the totsbots make some of his clothes a bit weird fitting). They are one size and have 3 elasticated parts that are very adjustable, and a choice of poppers, so they can be used from birth to pottytraining. They also dry really quickly. I'd really recommend them.

I'd get the starter set and see how you get along, and then maybe order one of a few different brands of nappies to see how well they fit, drying speed etc. You can easily sell them on as people are happy to buy second hand cloth nappies, or alternatively you could buy a few second hand ones to try out.
One thing though, do you have a tumble dryer? If you don't you might find reusables a bit of a hassle as some of them are quite slow to dry if you have to hang them up inside (when its raining). Also if you really hate doing laundry then i wouldn't recommend it. I have about 20 nappies which means i tend to have to do a wash every other day (or i can push it to 3 days if i use a couple of disposables for half a day). You just need a nappy bin with a tight fitting lid, you don't need to soak them just chuck them all in dry. I wash them at 40 or 60 degrees depending how much poo escaped the liners with 1/4 the normal amount of washing powder (the nappies hold the detergent and it can irritate their skin ) and also some oxygen bleach, they come up really white and clean :)

Hope thats helpful :)

katie and bexxie - i'm glad your babies are doing so well with the weight gain. owen just seems to get heavier and heavier but they wont weigh him til his 3 month jabs so still a few weeks to go. i reckon he must be over 14lbs now. he hardly fits in the pram. wait a sec i'll take a photo so you can see with the web cam........... here.........

muddles - glad oliver is getting better

jo - poor sophie with her psoriasis :hugs: i would be tempted to go private too!

amy - you must be the same school year as me as i was 32 in october. Haapy b-day!!! cant believe i'm going to be 33 this october  like you i also feel 18 still  dont look it with all the wrinkles and bags under my eyes from over 4 1/2 yrs of broken sleep :haha:

LC - happy belated b-day!

katie - i would try the cot and see what happens. as she was sleeping through it may be the space issue. i co-sleep most if the time just me and owen in the bed. i hate it when danny is in the bed with us as i think he's going to squash owen :haha:

sarah - they dont sell reusables in gibraltar. pretty crap shopwise here :dohh: i really want a trip to UK to go shopping! danny wants to go to leeds to visit his sis in oct/nov for a weekend (if he has a job by then!) sounds like a good idea to me  we shall see. a long weekend in London would also be nice!

Emera thank you so much for all that info - soooo helpful! I love doing laundry lol - Im a bit wierd like that :) And we have a dryer - Im ashamed to say I very rarely dry anything outside, I'm too afraid of Spiders getting it things!!

There is a choice of starter sets via the real nappy campaign, I can choose between The Diddy Diaper Kit, One size Pop-In Dream Dri & Booster Kit, The Easy Peasy Bumble BTP Kit, and The Prefold Kit. I was planning on going for the One size Pop-In Dream Dri & Booster Kit, it looks good from what I can see and its from 'Close' who make my sling :) I'm seeing the health visitor in the morning for Olivers weigh in so I'll ask her about them then :)
