Stopping BCP to TTC***Updates & Progress/Noted Changes Since Stopping BCP***24BFPs***

Moopsie! All is well here. Just started cycle 5, really thought I might have had it last cycle due to a lot of extra cramping, but lots of bfns just lead up to AF arriving 3 days early :( Oh well, I'm over it now and on CD3, so just waiting to get closer to O for all the fun to begin. Really hoping we get it this time so we can still get a baby in 2014!

I guess despite having my cycles go back to a fairly regular pattern, I'm still learning what a non-bcp cycle is like and my body is obviously still adjusting. Four full cycles off, so hoping it can only get better from here!

How about you?

This was my first normal AF since I stopped BCP. Thank goodness because the weird cycles were driving me insane! I'm keeping FX'd for all of us :)

I'm just glad I am finally back to normal. haha. I just hope that I get my BFP soon, all these babies everywhere are making me antsy. :)

Oh darn! I hope you catch it this cycle!

As for me... this is CD71, no period and apparently no O! I have an OBGYN appt on April 4... hoping they don't blow me off since I just stopped taking the pill at the very end of 2013. :P

Still no update from me either, other than I have started to exercise more, and have now done a GI diet for 1 week (and a normal diet for 2).

I have lost 5lbs so far! Baby dust to all!

Way to go Wtbam! At least you can say you are getting healthier for you and your family! Awesome job!

I hope both you and Moopsie can get your cycles going already! I can't imagine what all the waiting is like and I'm sorry you both have to go through. Glad to hear you are going to the docs in a few weeks moopsie. Have you ever had any testing done? I hope they don't tell you to just wait it out. Not sure if you follow wtbam much, but she is in a similar boat, waiting to O and may be someone to visit with if you haven't already!!

Well done on the diet Wtbam, I love low carb living (it helps working for a company that makes low carb stuff haha) I find it helps my hunger pangs and bloatedness!

How much longer do you have to carry on like this until the Dr will push harder for your ov?

Well, at the appointment a few weeks ago he offered me clomid straight away!

But the way I see it, lots of women have Clomid and then go on the miscarry. I think this is because they are forcing unhealthy eggs out (that have been affected by PCOS).

I read it takes 3 months for an egg to grow, so I figure I will spend 3 months on the GI diet, exercising, taking metformin and all the supplements. If in those 3 months nothing happens, well I will take the Clomid knowing I did all I could to get healthy eggs.

Also... before I went on BC (nearly 12 months ago) I was nearly 12lbs lighter than I was when I started the diet, and exercising regularly - and my periods were regular. I do wonder if the weight gain has something to do with my ovulation stopping.

Hopefully the diet will continue to work, and maybe in the next 3 months I will see something! Websites say that to see a different you need to lose 5% - 10% of your current body weight (but I wonder if that is for obese women? I wasn't obese, just overweight, and most of it round my waist/abs). 10% for me would be 17 lbs! A bit of a daunting prospect!!!

That's awesome wtbam! :)

Your post makes me feel more patient. I should give my body more time but sometimes I just want it to drop an egg already! :P

I haven't had any testing for PCOS/Endo/Etc... Hoping to get some of that ruled out at this appointment. Thanks Twinkie. :)

Hey girls...i think DH is getting antsy about starting TTC. I just took the 4th pill in my last pack and he's saying to chuck them out now...I don't know now since I've already started the pack. Twinkie i know you stopped after taking some pills in your pack. What was your experience?
Thanks.. :)

If you are going to stop you need to do it NOW! You may experience a little breakthrough bleeding in a few days, despite likely just having your period. But it's not a big deal, might spot a few days or so, or have a light flow. But for me, I still had my regular AF arrive at day 26, despite the breakthrough bleeding. So it was a little early, but I was pretty stressed out that month and I think that may have had something to do with that. If I remember correctly, I quit on day 5 of my new pack and I think I had breakthrough on cd7-9. Looking back, I'm glad I quit when I did, just that much more time to get it out of my system, even though I was pretty sure our first cycle ttc wouldn't work out because of the first few pills being taken and all. Let me know if you have any other questions!!! Good luck hun!

Thanks. What day did you consider day 1? Your second withdrawal bleed or your first pill of the pack?

I counted from the first day of my pill pack but the 26 days was from the start of my last period-as in my full cycle length. I guess the above is a little confusing. So I quit bcp on day 5 of the pack and bled on what would have been pill pack days 7-9. Does that make sense? What bc are you on?

OK...so CD1 was the first day of AF from the break from the last pack?
I'm on Tri cyclen...so the progesterone is less in the first week and increases as weeks go on but the estrogen content stays the same.

Yes CD1 was first day of AF from my last FULL pack of bcp, I did not count the few pills I did take as I did a ton of research and realized that the breakthrough bleeding was completely unrelated to ovulation. I think you'll def. want to stop now, before you increase the progesterone, otherwise if you take a few more days you would possibly be better off finishing the pack. IMO, the sooner you start to rid your body of bc, the better. Like I mentioned, although we tried, I really didn't expect anything to happen that first cycle for us as I believe I O too close to when I would have quit the pill and likely had enough of the hormones in my body still. I was on a very low dose pill because the hormones made me feel ill, but I am thinking tricyclen would be relatively similar, at least this early in the pack.

Thanks Twinkie! I think I'm gonna go for it! I don't think we will "try" until April though as I'm very hesitant about a Christmas baby happening...however I really want to see my body do its natural thing. If I go from the first day of my AF I'm considered CD 9 right now. So hopefully I'll get a real period by April 9th and then we can get down to business...I bought some OPK strips so I think I might use them starting in a couple days and see what happens!
What day do you think you ovulated your first cycle? Could you tell? How many days later did AF come? You got it on Dec.20 so did you ovulate the 6th? In one of your posts around that time you said you felt some cramping. Maybe it was ovulation cramps?

Still no update here. Getting very disillusioned with my body :(

Sorry wtbam...i know all Dr's will want to do is give drugs but i know another lady on this side...her atTC journal is "Hoping for a BFP!" I think she came off bcp in July and had a similar problem to you. Her Dr prescribed her provera i think which pretty much just makes your period start and now she has gone on to clomid as well to help. It might help to read through her journal. My other opinion is to try maca. In the reviews I read it makes you get your period as soon as youstart taking it ttoo. I don't know how it would interact with the metaforim you are taking now though. Id see what your Dr think....

Wnt2beAMom, back in Dec. I wasn't knowledge about my cycle at all and I do suspect that the cramping I had very well could have been O, but I wasn't temping or using OPK's to confirm that. I believe I got AF on the 18th, so my cramping on the 6th could have been O or because of the breakthrough bleeding I had for those two days. Sorry I don't have a lot to offer for that first cycle just because we started so quickly I wasn't really sure what to do to know when O was and all that stuff. When was the start of your last AF? if you think you are CD9 today, then you would have gotten AF on the 13th, right? So if you assume a 28 day cycle you should have AF by April 10th. I may have already asked this, but were you pretty regular before bcp? Please ask anything else you are curious about and I will try my best to answer!!! I hope I'm helping, but I feel like I don't have a lot to offer :(

wtbam-I was reading about saw palmetto last night, saw one link where some women used it for pcos and fertility. I completely understand the hesitation on taking any medications, but this could be another herb to look into. If you are starting to lean toward the med route, has your doc talked to you about provera?? I've seen several women on here say they've taken it just to get their periods going again.

EDIT: haha, just realized wnt2beAMom also suggested looking provera!!
