Stopping BCP to TTC***Updates & Progress/Noted Changes Since Stopping BCP***24BFPs***

Yup, I got AF on the 12th..so Cd 10 today. We aren't really trying this cycle though. I just want to see what happens. I have OPKs and I'm gonna see if I can start temping tomorrow morning. You can track my FF chart if you want haha. I set up a new signature....

I'm pretty excited! haha

btw you have been LOADS of help! I was reading through all the old entries of yours from this thread to help me understand how your first cycle went...

From what I remember I was pretty regular before the pill...maybe not clock work...because I do remember I started taking it at 17 when I starting having sex with my first bf and I just remember taking pg tests like every month because it always seemed to be a day or two late. So I went on the pill for some peace of mind and to help with acne. Then like I've said before, I went off it for a year and it took me 6 months for AF to even show up for the first time :( But once it did show up it was pretty regular and I was tracking it on FF but I can't remember my username or password I had back then so I had to make a new account and now I can't see my old information! :( lol

Anyways, I'm like so super excited over here :hi:

Is Provera Progesterone? Does it just make you bleed or might it kick start some ovulation too?

Wtbam-I don't really know much about it, I think it just gets your period going, but in some instances, it may be better to just get things moving again rather than all the waiting around for O. Hopefully then, once your body can start fresh again, you can see a better cycle time.

"HappilyMrs" with the journal titled "Hoping for a BFP!!!!!!!!" took it. I just skimmed through her journal and she had to take it for 5 days and then 2 days later your period starts. It can kick start ovulation too but it didn't for her, so she was in limbo for a couple months again. So she took the provera again for 5 days, got her period (CD1) then took Clomid from CD3-10. Then ovulated on CD 20, then got her period "naturally" on CD 34. So she didn't conceive but she got her body to ovulate finally! I think she still is taking the clomid on Cd 3-10 and is on cycle 4 now..but she doesn't need the provera anymore.

Don't know if that helps..

Ya I agree

want2beAMom-I'm glad it's helping. The last time you quit and it took 6 months, were you on the tri cyclen or was it a different bc?

I completely understand not really trying this month. We still had some "fun" but I knew that the odds were most definitely not in my favor and I didn't expect a bfp that first go around. On some of the older comments a lot of women said their first cycle off they were convinced they were pregnant based on symptoms, and I can honestly say that I did not experience that at all until this last cycle. I noticed cramping, back aches and my other normal pre AF symptoms have gotten slightly worse each month since quitting, with the last being horrendous in terms of cramps and backaches. It was so much worse than the previous cycles that I really thought I might finally get my bfp, but alas, it wasn't so. Thinking back on it, I really believe it was just that the prior cycles my body was still correcting its own hormonal production and that, hopefully, the last remnants of the bcp I was taking were finally out of my system so my body went a little crazy trying to figure out what to do. Of course I don't know anything medically, this is just my thinking based on what I've observed in the past few months and loads of Dr. Google ;)

I was on a different BCP before. It was called Diane 35 and pretty much is the Canadian version of Dianette. It's actually banned in the US. It suppresses androgen (testosterone) hormones but once you come off of it it puts them into overdrive which is one of the reasons why I think it took me so long to ovulate again. For Wtbam...it could be why it makes the Dr think your problem is PCOS because with PCOS you have high androgen levels.

Do you think the Dr would let you have an ultrasound on your ovaries? That would rule out PCOS if you don't have any follicles in them.....

I feel like I've seen so many women on here, including wtbam :(, that say they took dianette and it took a long time for AF to start again. I wish they'd ban it in other countries, sounds like such a pain for everyone. We shouldn't be punished for being responsible until we are ready to start having babies :( This really breaks my heart that wtbam and all these other women are going through all this crap just because they want a baby, so not fair.

Yup, so I think that if I do O "on time" or soon then I can for sure blame last time on Diane 35...

I was on Dianette!

Maybe there is hope, that it is still the Dianette and not my body.

My only reservation in bringing on af.... what if I start taking the tablets just at the same time as I am about the ovulate naturally? Or should I just write that off for further notice?

Hey ladies, I was posting before about my first cycle post-bcp and thought I'd update on my second. Currently CD28. FF was convinced that I'd O'd CD9 and I read that early O can sometimes happen after an anovulatory cycle so I was really hoping it was right. The numbers were pretty convincing. But yesterday I had a low temp and the crosshairs went away. It probably makes sense. I'd be 19dpo without AF and BFN, which I don't think is really possible. So looks like another anovulatory cycle for me. Feeling very down about it. I would have been happy with a BFN if I could have just O'd this cycle.

Crossing my fingers for BFP's for all of you soon :)

Oh, forgot to mention that from CD21-25 I had the most intense PMS-like symptoms that really made me think I'd O'd and that AF was coming. Can't believe my body did that to me with a fake temp rise! What a jerk.

Twinkie and curiousowl: do you remember how you felt right after stopping the pill? Like how soon did you start feeling "different"?

I didn't really feel much different and still don't. I gained a few pounds (mostly in my boobs, lol!) but that stabilized. I broke out on my face for the first couple weeks. And at a few random points last cycle I had some days where I was super emotional. It just felt like my hormones were out of whack. Other than the days I thought were PMS I haven't had any of that this cycle. Oh, and I guess (sorry, TMI) my sex drive improved a lot pretty much immediately.

Got my first positive opk since stopping pill on my 2nd cycle since stopping! !
So pleased with that, as when it didn't happen the first month I was scared it was gonna take months and months.
It was on cd16 :-)
Other than that, symptoms since stopping bcp are that my face has cleared of spots! The pill made me a little spotty and a few mid cycle cramps - feel normal otherwise!

The first month off BCP I would have sworn I was pregnant!

I'm on my 7th cycle after bcp, only first was anovulatory and every month i feel preggers, but the first cycle was definitely the worst ! Bodies are utter jerks, I tell myself every time not to get excited but by the end of the 2ww i'm always convinced

Like you said Twinkie, spotting has started for me now...had some cramping last night and a bit today.

It was the 2nd cycle that I "felt" different, almost sick, but I think my body was trying to play catch up on the hormones that I was no longer feeding it and it over produced possibly making me ill feeling. I broke out terrible on my face shortly after quitting, within a week or so. It looked almost like I was having an allergic reaction, it was so bad!! My face was all red, spotting and itchy :(Went away in just a few days though. I also had a few crazy emotional days in there that very first cycle off.
