Update - bfn boots own brand?! Please please someone give me hope - late bfp

I think it would be abnormal to have no worries at all! Wonderful scan photo, so glad it's going well for you. My first was awful at scans, really uncooperative. This one is a little angel already though, always in the position they want him in! Hope he carries on his good habits when he gets out!

Great photo! So happy all is going well! Almost in the 2nd trimester!

I’m still not sure whether to start one. I haven’t joined any of the due date groups either - I’m still worried I will jinx it!

I don't think you will jinx it, if anything it may help you being able to vent your worries. Not that you can't do that here of course, but having a specific place to do that may be more helpful and joining in with the other pregnant ladies in the tris may help too because most of them share the same worries

Congrats on the scan Red! Such wonderful news!! My little one didnt behave at my almost 12 week scan last week either lol. Every time they focused on baby it would kick its little legs and disappear from view lol! Thats awesome you get a repeat scan though! Another chance to see bubba!

Thank you all :) I am feeling more relaxed today which is really good, until I think about it and then I worry about being relaxed that i should still keep my guard up if anything does happen! Lol! I’m also really feeling a bit shell shocked - I know it’s crazy because we’ve wanted this so long, but I really thought it wasn’t going to happen, and really thought there was no way we’d ever have a baby. Now it seems we are going to actually have one it’s actually hitting me I’m going to have a baby in six months time!! And it’s insane! Lol! :)

Fantastic to see this update Red, beautiful scan picture too!

Oh bless you <3 I'm not surprised you feel you have to be guarded, but everything has been so positive so far, I don't think this will change. I think although six months sounds a long time, it will probably fly by and you will be holding your baby in your arms so soon. You're going to be a mummy! :D

Awe so so happy for you! That's a beautiful scan picture! I'm sure your next scan will be better drink a little caffeine and sugar before you go! Awe yay I'm so happy for you!

Thank you all :) I’ve been readi about how to wake baby up a bit and saw caffeine but I’m a bit scared to have it as it’s been a couple years since I’ve had it! I also saw ice cold drinks are good though, so I might get hubby to have a coke - i’ll Put it in the freezer and have a few sips on the way to the hospital! Hopefully that’ll work! :)

Pretty sure I recall them making me go away to drink a Coke lol

The best way is to exercise or raise your heart rate. The increase pumping of blood flow to the baby gives them "a rush feeling." Hence if you do work or exercise before bed or have an exciting dream you will wake up to baby kicks. I would take a walk before you need to head out to the scan, it will also give you a great chance to hear the heartbeat strong and fast.

Just for anyone following my story - We’ve just had a second scan as last week things weren’t clear. We’ve been told baby has gastroschisis as a best case scenario and at worst prenatal ruptured membrane omphalocele (stomach is basically developed outside the body). There were no doctors available as we were last scan of the day and everyone had left due to snow. Apparently mortality rates are about 10-15% for the best case, and 95% for the other. Does anyone know anything about this? Please? I can’t believe this is happening. And we couldn’t get the NT measurements needed either. Truly horrific afternoon. Please keep everything crossed our little baby doesn’t die.

Praying for you, Red. Really hoping it’s the best case scenario. Huge hugs.

So sorry you got this news - I don’t know anything about it, but do you have a follow up scan or meeting with a doctor coming up? Surely they can’t leave you with no clear answers

Thank you all. They said we will hear from a consultant soon, they aren’t sure whether it will be over the weekend or on Monday. We might get referred to another specialist children’s hospital but just have to wait and see for now. Hopefully we will get a definite diagnosis then and some info on the condition and prognosis. I just can’t beljeve this is happening. Xx

I don't know much about this but on reading briefly the outcome obviously depends a lot on which condition this is and the severity of it. Even in the most severe cases, from what I have read, they perform surgery after birth to put everything back in, but in some cases the baby's lungs can be small in which case they like to wait and continuously monitor the baby until the lungs have grown more. There can be long term problems, but again it depends on the severity.
I also read that in the case of younger mothers and first time pregnancies it's more common to have the less severe type.
I hope your next appointment sheds some positive light on this for you, this is just completely heartbreaking to read. Can't imagine what you're going through :hugs:
