US - new season of 16 & Pregnant

well, having latching issues myself, i have to say that pumping is EXHAUSTING. I'm sick and tired of washing up the pump parts so many times each day and having a kid who is crying/screaming while you're trying to pump is not easy.
We have worked through the latching issues then came down with thrush which is only now starting to clear.
With all I've been through, I find it too hard to judge anyone who chooses not to breastfeed, lol! The only reason I stuck with it is that I have amazing resources available and I'm really stubborn and would have regretted giving up so quickly.

I know the girls choosing formula before the baby is even here don't know if BFing would be hard for them or not. Just saying its really hard though.

Yeah see and I can respect someone that TRIES. And I mean really try, not the whole It didnt' work the first couple of times so I gave up.

But I'm so stuborn, I'm determined it will work! haha. I HATE HATE HATE formula fed babies and the way they smell. And the spit up, UGH! lol.

I'm assuming most of these teen moms are on WIC, which is a government funded program that provides formula to income-restricted families. Still, WIC only provides so much formula per month (my sister got 9 cans a month and she had twins!) so dishing out an extra 20 bucks per can is really expensive. I know I will try my damnest for this newborn to latch and at worst case scenario, I will pump.

WIC also supports breastfeeding a lot (WIC checks provide fruits, vegetables, dairy and grains to children under 5, pregnant women and post partum women) - if you breastfeed the more food they provide. Also, they give women electronic breast pumps for free. So really, to be as frugal as possible - which many, if not all, teen moms need to be - they would definitely take advantage of BFing.

One thing that irked me about the anorexic episode of 16 & Pregnant was that not only was she not eating and it was affecting her health, it was affecting her milk supply. That drove me nuts. I feel really bad for saying that because I know anorexia is a serious illness and because I haven't experienced it, I will never know how horrible it is. So sorry, don't mean to offend anyone.

I agree - most of the moms on this show don't even attempt to breastfeed. What made me mad about Kianna's mom was that she was getting on her case to get a job. I know we're talking about jobs and all, but the poor girl has a newborn and is falling behind in school - now her mom thinks she has time for a job, too??

I'll be a recovering anorexic (3 years and counting, YAY!!) the rest of my life, and I'm not offended. When you have an addiction it's just that, it controls you, so I understand where she is coming from. But at the same time I want to shake her and be like, "do you KNOW what you are doing!?!?!"

What ticked me off about that is that her stupid mom wanted to diet together. Her mom is effing clueless!!

We had latching issues too, and I have flat nipples/saggy boobs lmao so we couldnt BF and i pumped for 3 weeks before I got so stressed that my body just stopped making milk. I pumped for 3 weeks after that, getting not a drop but kept doing it, hanging on to a glimmer of hope. Washing that pump was SOOOOO ANNOYINGGGGGG I think it is important to have bubs get colostrum at least!!

Second, what a lazy jerk he is! From the start I didn't believe he was looking for a job because of his comment about needing his social security from his mom before he could turn in his applications. Doesn't work that way, moron. But then when he was sleeping over and Taylor was telling him the next feeding is his turn and he started calling her lazy and saying she didn't do anything..... OMG I wanted to shoot him. And he made her get up to get the bottles!!! Want to KILL

I wonder if that is going to be the season finale then. Because they also aired Unseen Moments last night after the new 16 & Preg. And they still have to air Dr. Drew's reunion special. Since Teen Mom season 3 airs July 5th, there's only two weeks until that premiere (which airs Tuesdays at 10).

The synopsis doesn't say its the finale; there is a 2 hour one on the following week but DVR hasn't updated the information. Could be the reunion show if next week is the last one.

Either way that's pretty immediate for Teen Mom to air the week after 16 & Pregnant. Did the new season of 16 & Preg air right after Teen Mom 2 ended? I wonder what will come after Teen Mom season 3. Teen Mom 2 again?

Yeah 16 and pregnant started when Teen mom 2 ended (Like they had the reunion special and 16 and pregnant was on teh next week)

Ugh I wanted to smack that FOB last night. And I kind of wanted to slap her around too for putting up with it. I feel like the FOB talked her into keeping the baby.. she wanted to, yes, but he sort of cemented the idea in her head by telling her it was 'wrong' to give up your child.

I did laugh at his reaction to the poopy diaper noise... lol.. my little guy makes some shocking noises when filling his diaper too

the unseen moments did bring up the breastfeeding issue slightly but I'm guessing the show doesn't want to turn itself into a BF vs. FF topic since they want to keep the focus on teen pregnancy etc.

I wanted to slap them both! When they kept saying that people shouldn't give up their kids for adoption. Uhm so people who are interfile are just supposed to stay childless because you couldn't keep your legs together or just strap on a damn condom???

And then when she kept whining about how she couldn't go to regular high school. WELL what do you think you are going to do? Keep the kid at home alone and hope it will be okay!?

Once again, if you want to be a normal teenager, lets not have sex then! Or at least use a condom EVERYTIME the WHOLE time. GEEZE! lol.
