US - new season of 16 & Pregnant

Amber lost custody (again) because her car/home were broken into. With all the money she makes (280K/year), you'd think she would move to a safer neighborhood......?

I'm still not sure what I think about last night's episode. The FOB wasn't that bad, considering he was only 15. I mean I had to take that into consideration when he was convincing Kianna that they could take care of the baby - he just doesn't get how difficult it really will be. I felt bad for her because she didn't have much support from him (cuz he can't drive yet) and was falling behind in school. He isn't a douchebag or anything, but his immaturity definitely showed through what with him thinking it would be easy and telling her he wants to keep the kid just cuz he grew up without a dad and didn't want the same for his own kid. Ummm, when kids get adopted it's usually to a family with a mom and dad....?

Why would she lose custody for that? I wonder if people specifically target them because they are celebrities, because Catelynn's place gets broken into too (next season) - then again it doesn't look like she lives in a safe place either.

You'd think by their salaries the teen moms would be living in atleast upper middle-class suburbs.

I'm about 30 minutes south of where Amber lives and yeah the entire city of Anderson is trashy. There is nothing nice about that town lol.

And I don't think she lost custody due to where she lives. Its because of the charges she is facing for beating on Gary. Its because she would scream at him and beat on him in front of Leah. It was all over the news here when she lost custody. They consider abuse of a significant other in front of a child pretty much as bad as just beating the child. Mainly because the child could get hurt or the anger could easily be turned on the child.

I'm just saying what the news is reporting, but even then I thought it was fishy due to her history. The media is saying that because her home was broken into, it's unsafe for a child to be in. Um, okay, then are we putting all kids into foster care if they live in a home that was broken into? I call bullsh*t on this one....

I saw an ad for the next season of Teen Mom last night and the promo was all about Farrah. Those girls have already had 2 season of TM! I wish they'd do another season with the girls from this last time. I'd love to see the update on Leah/Cory and then the drama with Chelsea/Adam. I found Kailyn kind of boring but Janelle was always interesting.... I hope they do another season sometime with those girls.

last night's episode bothered me.. with the FOB convincing her to keep the baby but not helping enough etc. I don't know how they'll keep the baby since her mom can't afford to keep helping out financially.
She should really get some governement help.
Also, she needs to stop getting her nails done.. that is money that she needs for the baby. Just one thing I noticed that bugged me.

Ugh that is SO true! And I get that the kid was 15 and couldn't drive, but seriously he can't cut some peoples grass or clean someones gutters for a little cash?

Kids are so spoiled these days! lol.

At 13 up I was always making my own money. Dog walking, house sitting, baby sitting. I was the kid of the neighborhood that everyone called on!

oh yeah, I was babysitting etc when I was 13 and when I was 15 I got 'real' jobs.

Yeah I had my first "real job" at 16 working at a vets office cleaning. Loved it!

It's not hard to find a job when you're 15 or 16. Even if it's bitch work like McDonald's, it's still money. First off, they don't expect you to have experience and secondly, most jobs like taking advantage of passing off the duties more experienced employees won't do to those who are willing to take anything.

Yup. Might not be a dream job and might not make much money. But since they don't have over head costs like rent or utilities, they really only have to worry about paying for the baby.

And seriously if these girls are SO broke why are they using formula! Unless you just can't produce thats one thing, but why not use what you have for FREE!? lol

lol, well yes, breastfeeding is free but it is really hard work. I don't think I could have stuck with it this long if I was 16.

Yeah I know its hard, but you see the girls talking about formula as soon as the baby is home. So I would think that you'd want to try REALLY hard if it meant not having to pay for it

Even the girls saying it from early pregnancy that they are goingg to formula feed. Its fine if you can afford it, but if you really want a baby to be as cheap as possible you make sacrifices like breastfeeding (if you are able,) cloth-diapering, etc.

At 15 you could get a job at the local library or video store. And you noticed that once he turned 16 she told her friend that he STILL wasnt filling out applications? Shit, I would have gave him a stack for his bday present! :haha:

I would make him 'pay' for visits to his son with applications filled out and turned in, lol!

Yeah I just can't imagine paying like 20 bucks a can for formula that probably lasts, what, a week, few days? When I have something I produce for free. If I cannot breast feed (like lack of supply) then I will do what I have to. But if I have latching problems or get too sore, I'll just pump. Even if I'm bottle feeding I'd rather it be the milk I supply :)
