Warning All Pregnant Women: Miscarriages From H1N1 Vaccine As High As 3,587 Cases

I asked my midwife about the swine flu vaccine and she said they no longer give it out, swine flu isn't seen as a epidemic anymore, so its not offered to pregnant women in the UK. I would have had it if it was a problem here, because I'm asthmatic and if I got swine flu it would be really dangerous.

I was booked in to have it in my last pregnancy, but actually miscarried about a week before I was due it. Its like my OH said - if Id have had it booked in a week before, we would have blamed the jab for the miscarriage especially as it happenned at 13 weeks pregnant.
Anyway - I decided to just carry on and get it as we knew we would ttc again soon and felt more comfortable having it out of pregnancy - although Im not sure if any risks are the same or not for this baby as I had it 2 months before falling pregnant so would be in my system.

Anyway - I had it done as I was getting so worried about DS getting it as I work with children and we are always getting their bugs - I also worried about me being at risk in pregnancy and leaving DS without his Mummy.

I dont think I will give it to DS, but thats because it hasnt been in the news much, but if it all flares up again I may think again

what an inappropriate thing to post. i suggest you check your sources before posting something so blatantly scaremongering. especially with that title why would you post that?? you have needlessly scared some people for sure.

What a wonderful way to scare us all to death :dohh:

Think first, post later!

I don't think this is really an appropriate thing to post when many women are worried about MC anyway. There isn't a defiant link and until it's been proved you can't say it is defiantly the cause. The title will frighten pregnant woman to death :nope:
xx

unfortunatley when yr pregnant there are always stories like this for just about everything ! my mw says if we all listened to every story about everything we'd done while pregnant we would all be nervous wrecks !!! anyway i didnt have it i wasn't offered it. however to all the ladies who have dont panic clearly yr all still pregnant and yr babies are all still fine !!
i dont think it was a good idea to post this as it can upset people who've had it and especially as the title is very scary saying warning like that. however i dont think the op meant any harm by it x

I thought they don't even do this vaccine anymore? Why scare people when it's not even given out?

Haven't had the vaccine but ... as others have said ... load of crap!

There's little difference (if any) between H1N1 and the normal flu jab that people get EVERY year (incl. pregnant women) with no problems. Unfortunately internet-spread "research" can be posted by anyone and many tend to originate from the Christian evangelical far right in the US who think vaccinations are a global conspiracy in order to collect everyone's "personal data" for the end times.

Not saying that's what has happened here, but sounds like mindless, unsubstantiated scare-mongering. "National Coalition of Organised Women" ??? And what would they know ???

This is a disgraceful post, the OP should be ashamed of themselves.

I appreciate everyone has their own opinion and if you don't want the vaccine then fine but its wrong to scare people who are thinking about the vaccine or have had it.

This is totally one sided research, not provided by a medical association. I myself work in the clinical research industry and if this was the case then the vaccine would not be licensed for use in pregnant women.

There's no proven link - how can anyone say that it has contributed to that many miscarriages? There's no evidence to say that these women wouldn't have miscarried anyway!

A load of old crap in my opinion - from someone who had the vaccine at 11 weeks and is now nearly 34 weeks into my pregnancy.

^^ It's in the first tri as well.

ETA: I'm sure the OP didn't mean any harm, but I have to agree with the ladies who say it was inappropriate to post it. First of all, it's a load of crap (although I suppose that could be debatable), and second, if you've already had the jab, there's nothing you can do to take it back, so this post will just make those women feel like crap (unnecessarily IMO) and worry more.

So all over the tri sections. I wish people would think before they post. First tri is when teh ladies really worry about MC
xx

how are medicines/vaccines licensed for pregnant women anyway? just curious as it would totally unethical to do trials on pregnant women surely...?

thats why we are told to avoid over the counter medicines....and even the stuf doctors prescribe to pregnant women more often than not say they are not suitable for pregnant women...

i think thats why its best just avoid any medicine/vaccines in pregnancy...obviously if its life threatening to mother/baby then thats a different issue...but i believe swine flu was just made into a big thing by the media when in fact it probably wasn't...jus the media doing what they do best lol

Before making a decision based on the OP on its own, please do your research on the group itself - National Coalition of Organized Women. From doing a quick google search, this seems to be an organization that opposes all vaccines. They don't seem to be the most unbiased of sources for this type of information.

I dont think we have this in Australia??

I was told to get a flu shot that i never got as i read mixed responses about it.

If the info in the OP was true i would say it be big headlines and they wouldnt be letting women get them!!

I had the vaccine on Tuesday. I can't risk myself getting the flu and I'm in a house with toddlers and I babysit a third toddler, we all had the swine flu last year and it was horrible.

at the risk of sounding stupid why did you get the vaccine if you already had swine flu??? the jab would be useless if you already had the flu because your immune system will have banked it and levels of antibodies will now be in your system...

At the time I had it, we did not verify that it was swine flu. So many people in the area had swine flu that the doctors were not testing for it anymore. So we think it was swine flu, but don't know for sure. Plus, this year the regular flu and the swine flu vax are combined to 1 vax. You get a flu vax every year, it's not a one time vax.

The same post is on the secon trimester forum aswell :nope:
xx

I really don't understand why the OP is getting a bashing?
We are all grown women here. Don't we all watch the news? It seems like we only want to see/hear the sugar coated stuff.

Her crime to >quote an article she read...

I can unserstand the mixed opinions on this post but why make the OP feel so bad? forums are all about information sharing and that is merely all she has done. She didn't write the research or the article, she merely shared it to allow people to make their own minds up about what they are reading.

I have never believed heavily about the swine flu and therefore never got the vacine and won't be getting it if offered again this year. Its personal choice but i for one don't want to put an under tested under researched drug into my body. I've seen people with swine flu as i work in the hospital and i have been exposed to it so that in my opinion is all the imunity i need!

^^^ Finally some perspective and common sense.

Here here.

I don't think it's fair to imply that people who voice an opinion that differs from yours lack perspective and common sense. Maybe that's not what you meant by that (I apologize if I am taking this the wrong way) but that's how it's coming across.

ETA: I did say that I don't think the OP meant any harm, and you are right, she shouldn't be getting a bashing.
