The one thing I'd like to add,is that even though you guys love each other to death,doesn't mean that you are meant to be.My best friend and her boyfriend were together 13 years,and in that time,they were horrible to each other.Not always,but when they fought,it was not good at all.It started with him,but eventually she was also calling him names and lashing out physically (she once threw a coke bottle at his head,and smashed his car's front window).
Last year she finally decided enough was enough,that they just were not good for each other.I'm still friends with her ex now,because ever since they broke up,he's been a completely different person.Like he said,he thinks their obsessive love for each other,was like a fire,ready to consume them both.
Now granted,it's not to say you and your OH will end up like them,but it's good to know that maybe you're not alone,and others have gone through similar situations,and been ok.
