Beach Bump Graduates!

BB, don't feel bad at all about the way you feed your baby. Jonathan would not latch at all, he would scream just looking at my boobs. I pumped every 3 hours, 15 minutes per boob and feed him after trying to get him to nurse since day 2. Yesterday we bought a nipple shield and he has been breastfeeding since. It was a struggle to get to this point. Very exhausting. :hugs: I wanted to breastfeed him right away but he was in the nursery for a few hours because of his heart murmur and they feed him sugar water. :(

I'm too tried to really read everyone's post but I hope you all and babies are doing great.

Jonathan is doing great, he's a great sleeper but a lazy eater. His cord stump came off today. I can't believe he's blonde!! I can't believe how good I feel or how quickly I'm recovering. Stitches are healed and gone, bleeding has died down and I'm almost back to my pre pregnancy weight. My nipples on the other hand have been destroyed.

Wez you look amazing in that pic Aaron just posted and it's so funny that 1 of your boobs is like nearly the same size as him!! LOL

Simmy we have 5 cellular blankets and this is just enough. We originally started with 2 but have bought 3 more as we use them a lot and he can go through them a lot if he is sick on them.

BB please don't worry about what people say about FF, as DM said only you know what's best for Josh. At least you've tried to BF so please don't beat yourself up about it. Unfortunately people are always going to express their opinions.

Elliot is still feeding a lot but he is sleeping well at night now. He'll sleep from about 11 - 3, feeds til about 4.30 and then will sleep til about 6.30 / 7. In the daytime though he will only sleep for about 3 hours! Would rather him be up during the day rather than at night though!

The big problem we are having though is he won't sleep in his Moses basket! He sleeps on me each night which I know isn't ideal but as soon as we lay him down (even if he's soundo) he will cry! Any suggestions?

Omg... So. Bloody. Tired.

1.5 to 2 hours between every feed then she's wide awake and needs coaxing back to sleep....

Bec - Niamh refused to sleep in her basket and would only sleep with one of us. We started putting her on a pillow to sleep between us still cuddleing up and now when she falls asleep we put her on the pillow into the basket. It has been a miracle for us!! I think being higher in there really helps her as when she wakes herself (which she does a lot as she is a wriggler) she does not freak about being in all that space and goes back to sleep.

Linds - What a little monkey Sophie is she must sense that its M's first day back at work and wants to throw you into the deep end!! I hope she has a nap at some point.

Niamh was a terror yesterday and screamed continuously from 4pm until 10.30pm before eventually passing out at around 11.30, luckily she then slept til 5am. I think she has reflux as she is really pukey and is obviously in pain in her tummy.

Here's hoping we all have better days today. :hugs:

Linds - poor you, I was the same last night and felt like poo all day yesterday. It's horrid. Is Sophie going through a growth spurt do you think?

Freckles - our MW suggested feeding every 3 hours in the day and said to me to feed every four hours at night now as he is gaining weight. Am quite relieved as I could get to the same sort of position as you and only get up once in the night - what a dream that would be! Your schedule seems great.

Clare - I hope today is better for you. Soiunds like you had a nightmare yesterday, you must be exhausted.

Eve - happy due date!

Bec, i was going to suggest what Claire said about the pillow. We are going to try that tonight ourselves as he sleeps beautifully on a pillow between us but for some reason doesnt like his moses basket. He doesnt scream, he just doesnt sleep. (he sleeps really well in the moses basket we have downstairs though?!)
I know the pillow thing probably isnt 'recommended' but needs must and all....

I feel your pain DM, we had a bad night too, he just wouldnt settle down. He will probably sleep all day now though, nocturnal little bugger!!

Bec, I have the same problem with Katie. She won't sleep unless it's on me. For a few days I slept better that way because I was so afraid she'd stop breathing if she was farther away from me. However, I'm fully ready for her to sleep in her bassinet! I can't say how happy I was yesterday when she slept for almost two hours without me - she even slept a whole ten minutes in her crib.

I had NO sleep last night, Katie was so fussy. She refused to sleep and her belly hurt her too so she was wide awake until about 6 am. I got on and off sleep after that for about an hour or so...she's still awake now. Today is the first day DH is back to work so im on my own and have to get her ready for a doctor appointment later - she should be fun for that!

She normally feeds every half hour or so as well, so on normal days/nights I'm not sleeping very much either.

Thanks for your replies. Today has been all about trying different things but he still won't sleep anywhere but me. I don't mind it sometimes as I love my cuddles but I haven't had time to do anything! He falls asleep on me and have tried him in his rocker, pram and Moses basket with a pillow in but nothing works so I now have him in his baby carrier attached to me so I can at least walk round!

Caz I hope you manage to get into a routine soon so you can get more sleep. I'm not sure elliot's in a routine or if we've just been lucky the last few nights! I agree with the others though and wouldn't wake Ajay. I always thought I should wake Elliot if he slept for hours but he will wake when he's hungry. Keep up the good work Hun, he's gaining weight so thats great.

SB I hope you get a better nights sleep tonight. I hope you manage to get ready for the docs appt - I understand what a mission getting ready is! I'm not arranging any outings just because it's impossible to get anywhere on time!

Grrrrr....people and unwanted opinions!!! Funnily enough the same person i was ranting about the other day.....need to seriously consider who i class as friends these days me thinks!!

Just gave Katie her first bath all by myself - usually her hatred for being wet makes it a two person job! She actually behaved for me, so I got to take some cute pictures of her as well! (sorry they're so big!)

besides that, I think I might have overdone things today. I tried to go back to taking care of Katie, our dog and the house since DH went back to work today, but I started leaking a lot more as well. It's not blood as much as "other stuff" so maybe that's ok then? Either way I'm going to slow it down a bit somehow - gotta go to the doctor's in an hour for Katie's two week check up.

Oooh love the little headband. Would look gorgeous on Sophie with her mad hair! She does look something like Sophie actually. So obviously I think she's super beautiful!

Oh and if I'd taken that pic it would look slightly different - Sophie LOVES bathtime so when we get her out and put her in a towel she screams the house down! Not a fan of getting out.....

Awww SB she's so cute, love the bathtime pics x

Linds, sorry to say but 6 years later i still struggle to get abbie out of the bath, she'd stay in all day if i let her!! Still, better than a fight to get them in lol

Can't believe the lack of births this week, is everyone timing it to go at the same time? lol

Good luck to anyone still waiting xx

Hopefully something is kicking off for Hann!

Re: baths, strangely enough Katie loves the one part of bathtime I thought she'd hate. She loves getting her hair done, feeling the water and getting the shampoo massaged through her hair. I hated that when I was little!

Just got back from the doctors a bit ago. Katie, at 16 days old, is now 9.5 lbs and almost 22 inches. Doctor said she's growing great and looks perfect. I was so happy - at least I know that all these sleepless nights are adding up for good for her (even though I'm slowly draining, every 3 days or so Katie let's me sleep a night!) This is tiring work, but Katie's been such a joy.

Adorable, SB! I can't wait to give Jonathan his first bath. His stump just came off.

BB, I'm getting the same crap. I just ignore it.

Happy DD Eve. I hope there are more babies soon.

Claire, Jonathan has been pukey today. :( He cries on and off until he falls asleep. My poor baby.

Hope you ladies get some rest.

Ajay hates his baths - his stump came off after 6 days so we have only bathed him twice and he screams like anything! Kelz - I hope he starts to like baths like your Abbie does as I really wanted to make it a night time routine for him.

Fingers crossed for Hann today - hope the contractions are manageable and can't wait for your news!

Beth - great news on Katie's progress! I had Ajay weighted yesterday too and to know that the hard work, tiredness and sometimes stresses of BF'inf (that's just my experience!) are worth it is fabulous. My hubbie said that he is amazed that one person, i.e. us the Mum's, can develop a baby single handedly through feeding - it is a great feeling.

Looks like I'm joining the awake at 3am club...so tired. I'm hoping Jillian will sleep well after this feeding. She can somehow nurse while sleeping. Now she's making cute cooing sounds too. If only I could nurse while sleeping...

SB, adorable pictures and great weight after two weeks.

Wez, hope Jonathan feels better soon!

Caz, loving your hubby's comment :)

Must go change Jill...somehow she manages to miss the burp cloth while spitting up...
