Niamh having a bad day today and D working til 10pm tonight so I did what any self respecting adult does and walked the 4 miles round to my parents house so my mum can hold/calm the baby and I could have a bath. Still have my old bedroom here, I love it! :)I will grow up one day

Watching Forest Gump now with my brother waitng for D to pick us up when he has finshed work!!

Claire she generally screeches at him after a minute or so!

lol claire 4 miles!! bloody hell... sounds like it was worth it though! I still have my room at my parents' house and i'm 32 - you're never too old!

Linds, the pic of harry and sophie is beautiful - and Moira the pic of Josh and Logan is lovely - these big brothers are something special aren't they :D

hope you have better nights tonight! xx

Am here for the 3am feed lol! Elliot has slept from about 11.30pm so not too bad so far.

Linds that is a lovely pic of Harry and Soph!

Doods, Hailey took almost 3 weeks to get up to her birth weight (8lbs 11oz) and then she surpassed it and was 10.5 lbs at her appointment last week. My paediatrician (old school East European lady) was happy as long as Hailey was gaining weight.

As for the FF and BF discussion - I FF Cameron and pumped for 2 months - I had PND ( I was not in a good place ) and he was not latching properly so for many reasons it was recommended that we bottle feed him so he got a good mixture of the two. And with Hailey, because of what happened to me - severe haemorrhaging etc. I was in no state to care for her for the first day so she was FF in the nursery while I 'recovered'. Also, because she was so early it was recommended to FF (I had to sign forms to acknowledge that I was aware BF is best, but for the benefit of my child I was willing to FF). All of that to say that Hailey continues to be bottle fed - both expressed milk and formula - and breast fed. She has never had any issues with nipple confusion, but each child is different so...

I have been told many times, like many of you have said, happy mum = happy child...

So here is to each of us being happy and having happy babies with full tummies :)

Im here also for 3am feed :) or should it be :( not to bad really she has been asleep since 10pm.

So exciting on the other thread, should be more joining us this week.

Simmy - I dont think I will ever not want or enjoy being home. Im 28 and my bro is 22 and still lives at home!

Wow Claire that is good going for Niamh to have slept that long! I still slept with Elliot on me as he is still yet to settle in his Moses basket on his back.

I'm the same with my mum and dads house - it's been in the family for a couple of generations but think my parents will sell in a few years as it's a 4 bedroomed house but just has the two of them living there. Will be so sad when it sells!

Well not only am I up with Katie tonight (who refuses to get off my boob!) but I'm also up with horrible food poisoning! The cramps are as bad as when I was in active labor, and every time I run to the bathroom and leave Katie with DH, she screams until i get back. I feel bad for him, he doesn't understand why she cries with him and he tries so hard to keep her happy (rocking her, singing, walking, etc). The moment she sees me she completely stops crying.

I'm so not looking forward to tomorrow when I'm all alone!

Eurgh SB that's not good, hope you get better soon. Feed finished Niamh refusing to
go back to sleep and thinks it's playtime! Currently IN
between me and her sleeping daddy.

Bec - does Elliott go or sleep on your husband or is it only you?must be hard to never have any space/ time to yourself.

I feel for you guys. Jill has been refusing to go to sleep. She's been feeding constantly today. I was hoping I'd get some sleep by now, but I was only in bed for 5 min and she woke up. I don't know how she can possibly still be hungry...

Claire - Elliot does sleep on other people, not just me. It is hard always sleeping on my back but I just don't know what else to do as he won't sleep in his MB on his back.

That's good that you can get a break sometimes. Sleep on your back must be difficult I'm a tummy sleeper and it's my favourite thing about no longer being pregnant. I have no idea what you could try to help him sleep. Have you spoken to your HV about tummy sleeping? I don't even know why it's a risk as we were all put on our fronts.

I'm glad you are getting more sleep now though :) and he can be put down during the
day. Niamh is very clingy too and can only be
moved into her MB once she is asleep I have no chance of her getting put down and drifting off.

GW – happy mum = happy child, I like that! I’m so pleased that Hailey is putting weight on well.

Clare - 5 hour sleep that is good. We are still waking Ajay at 4 hours in the night for a feed – still not sure if it’s the right thing to do but doing it anyway at least until tomorrow when he has the 10 day weight in. We will see how he has progressed then.

Beth – of no, poor you. I hope you’re feeling better – I cannot imagine being ill and BF’ing and looking after a newborn. I am struggle TBH now in good health! Take care.

Also, has everyone seen the news re Hann – she gave birth to a little girl just below 6 lbs at 4.56 am called Annabelle Millie Malone. She got to 9 cms without any pain relief (water birth I think) which was amazing and had an epidural at about 1 am. She did amazingly and I have text her to say that everyone was thinking of her and posting. Another baby, yay!

Ajay fed like a demon yesterday having a 90 minute feed at 4 pm and then another at 10.30 pm and another at 1.30 am. My husband was up with him between the last two feeds and apparently he was going nuts – screaming the place down. We managed to settle him together at 3.30 am and got a bit more sleep and now he is sleeping peacefully (little monkey!).

Linds – I tried last night offering the 2nd breast to make sure he is full and I think it worked as usually I’d only offer one breast but he’d be hungry straight after and the last few feeds he has sucked on the 2nd for a bit but then fallen asleep. Thanks for the tip!

Forgot to ask - now that hubbie is back to work tomorrow - really practical question.... what do you do with your baby when you shower? I was thinking of taking him upstairs with me in the car seat and sitting in the shower room with the door open (so its not too hot and steamy for him) - or should I just leave him sleeping in his crib and take the monitor into the shower (is that safe?)? I know it's a silly and simple question but just trying to think practically!

just a quick reply to caz and will catch up with the rest later.

Caz - I tend to take Logan upstairs in his bouncy chair and put it on the landing just outside the bathroom so I can see him and have my shower. I did the same for Josh when he was small and it worked well. When I have to wash my hair/shave my legs etc I tend to do that at night when DH is home so I am not as long in the shower. Its just a matter of seeing what works for you and Ajay.

In saying that I am off for my shower now as Logan is asleep and Josh is watching a film so both happy.

I use a monitor when I shower and leave Jill in her bassinete. Sometimes she refuses to nap, so I don't get to shower until late in the afternoon and I always rush just in case she wakes up.

Thanks guys - that is what I thought but wanted to check out what you all do!

Had a little nap this morning while Ajay slept so feeling alright. He is sleep again now so might try and have another sleep now whilst I have the chance!

I sometimes take her in the bathroom and out her on the floor on a towel or I leave her in her in her MB. Like Curlew i tend to bath/ shwer in the evening when Duncan is home to watch her.

Glad you got to have a nap and are feeling better and brighter :)

Oooh should have come on here when I was up between 3 and 4. Soph is back to sleeping a bit better now. She looks ENORMOUS at the mo. She has grown out of all the small baby onesies AND all the newborn ones. In under 4 weeks. She's going to be lanky long legs like her brother. Does this mean I am going to be the token dwarf in a house of tall people?
