Beach Bump Graduates!

lol np! My SIL did it after each of hers apparently works a treat but never tried it myself!

The cabbage leaves worked for me Mel. Straight from the fridge is best! xx

Congratulations Simmy on the birth of baby Leo - cute name and so glad you have had him - what a marathon labour! Hope you aren't in too much pain from the section and it heals well.

Mel - I don't know about for c sections but my tummy reduced quite a bit by day 4. It is wobbly now but not too bad. It sounds like Harrison is being really good especially at night!

MIL and FIL just arrived, told Greg he has to have a chat with them today ESP MIL about not hogging our baby and giving us space. I am not having another day like yesterday where mil held her for hours and actually said she would not move as she didn't want anyone else to hold her! I didn't want them here in the week but they did it anyway so the least they can do is give us a bit of space and be respectful when they are here. At the end of the day she is only a week old today and I amstill learning!

Hann, your MIL is a NIGHTMARE!! Hope Greg gets his point across! Its not fair, especially as they are only days old, we want them to ourselves! My mum was pretty good yesterday and she was made up when we let her feed Harrison. She was taking pics everytime he moved, i think she is gonna bore people with her pictures and talk of her grandson, can you tell its her 1st! lol xx

Is anyone looking to or have opened a savings account in their babys name? We want to do this and just pay something like £10-15 per month in which they can then have when they are 18 or something like that?
Does anyone have any recomendations as to where to go for this, it all appears a bit of a mindfield and a lot let the child have control of the money when they are 16, which i dont want! x

Thought you could use a laugh. I was changing Jillian's diaper and just managed to put the new one under her and was putting anti-rash cream on her when she let out a massive wet fart. I ducked, but the changing pad cover, the trash can, and 4 feet of carpet were not so lucky. Our dog was nearby and was ready to help in the clean-up...yuck! I had to get my husband to distract the dog and clean the carpet while I changed yet another diaper. I can't believe how much coverage she got. I should have taken a picture. It looked like someone took a mustard bottle and squirted it everywhere :haha:

On the bright side I got about 7hrs of sleep in two big chunks. I'm feeling pretty good :)

BV that is a great story, I keep waiting for Annabelle to let rip like that!

Mel - let me ask Greg about the account, we are going to do that too and his job ims in investments so he should be able to give us help on it! I'll let you know.
And yes mil is a nightmare! I told her I wanted to do our own thing and she said nothing at all back. I think she is sulking now but I really don't care! I am so glad I am BF as I get to take her and have alone time!

Thanks Hann, will leave it with you, its more a savings plan for us i guess so we can hand over a cheque for a few grand around the age of 18 for a car. uni or something like that, Doesnt necessarily need to be in Harrisons name as we will open a different account to teach him to save etc in.
Lol all your MIL seems to do is sulk! pathetic!

BV, Lol@ Gillian! the girl done good!

Arrggh she is driving me mad! We got back from shopping and Annabelle was screaming, she was clearly hungry and needed changing. So I changed her and mil decided that she was only crying because she needed changing. I just had to ignore her interfering and take her off for her feed, and of course she was hungry (as I knew she was). Then I brought her back in after feeding and my fill held her for 20 minutes and then put her in her basket as we are trying to get her to like the basket and immediately the mil got up and is standing over the basket touching her, messing with her blanket, and telling us what we should and shouldn't be doing. It's so rude to interfere when we are doing what we know is best for her. She was basically telling us that we shouldn't be trying to let her sleep in the basket and that we should have her held. Then she took her cover off her when it's cold so of course she started crying so Greg put it back on. And now she has got her camera out and I've had to tell her to take the flash off because she was about to get in her face and take a photo of her. I mean for goodness sake what's she doing? I have told her to leave her alone so that she sleeps and she just won't stay away from the basket! And this is why I didn't want her visiting during the week.
We still have this for 3 more days! I think I might go mad!!
I just want them to leave now!!

ahhhhh hann.. stand your ground.... give the mil a slap... hope she backs off for you xxx

Thanks MM - they leave for the day in 30 minutes so I just have to hold on until then. Of course we still have Thursday, friday and Saturday to get through. Its just too much so early on. Why couldn't they have actually listened to us and only come for the weekend?!!

Hann, :hugs:! What an awful situation to be in. I hope you survive the next few days. We had a ton of visitors too since Jillian was born. My parents are coming down this afternoon and staying till Sunday. Mind you, we had visitors every day since Saturday, so it will be over a week of visitors. Funny enough, my MIL is more polite and more aware of our wishes than my own mother. I'm really grateful for that because my in-laws are 20 min away, so they're visiting all the time (my parents are 4hrs away). It's a good thing those visits have been going well, otherwise I'd be going out of my mind. We've had some issues in the past, but since Jill was born the tension has disappeared. The in-laws are absolutely in love with her and it's really cute. My parents love her too, but they sometimes take nagging to a new level, so I hope they'll tone that down on this visit. My parents are old school and think that we shouldn't be holding the baby too much. They also think drafts cause colds, so every time we have the ceiling fan on or a window open, they think Jill is going to be sick. I tried over and over to explain that bacteria and viruses cause colds, but they won't admit that I'm right. My mother said "well, that's your opinion." So I reminded her that I have a Biology degree and I'm spouting out facts, but then she said I'm being disrespectful. Sigh! I can't win...Funny enough, even with all these arguments, I still love my parents and I'm looking forward to seeing them. No one is perfect I suppose.

Just got back from docs....still got an infection :( but things are healing slowly. GP reckons i should have been given stronger antib's in the first place, so got another course of different ones to try. Thankfully it doesnt really hurt that much - taking painkillers really did help Hann - GP was really rather rough though!

Georgie, sorry you still have an infection, at least its improving though:thumbup:

Hann, good luck for the next few days, sounds like you are gonna need it hun!

BV, Enjoy the time with your parents, they can all be very trying and of course they ALWAYS know better than us! lol

So we had a MW visit today and Harrison was weighed, very please to announce he only lost 128g which is about 5% of his birth weight, and he was very chilled through the heel prick test.
My Section wound has healed really well too, its unbelievable that 5 days later you can hardly see anything!

We have discovered that Harrison loves to suck our fingers like a bottle, i cant believe how powerful his suck is!! Its an easy way to stop him crying but must not get reliant on it!

Went for a walk this afternoon, think ive over done it a bit, as knackered and a bit sore now, but OH has just made lovely bangers and mash!!....:happydance:

Georgie - its really great that they decide that you should have been given stronger antibiotics! I mean why can't they get these things right the first time! What were you given? I have cefalexin, flucloxacilin, metronidazole and then pain killers are diclofenac sodium and co dydramol. What a cocktail!!
Hopefully the new ones will help!

BV - your mum sounds like fun! That's the kind of stuff that drives me mad - so interfering and you know best for your little girl! I think that's why I'm frustrated. It will never be appropriate for someone to tell you how to raise your baby.

Mel - harrison sounds like he is thriving! Well done mummy!! I know what you mean about the sucking - it's hilarious!

So question for those BF - after a few days after the milk came in did your boobs stop hurting and just still produce milk? Mine have stopped being tender, well there are a little but not like they were a couple of days ago. Also when Annabelle just fed she needed both sides - she normally only has one side. Do you think my supply is decreasing? Should I express a few times to increase my supply?

Mel – it’s so lovely to read your post – you sound like such a contented Mummy with Harrison. I love it! My tummy started to go down in the first week and now it’s got flatter, esp. due to the breast feeding and pumping I assume, or that is what everyone tells me. I will have to brave a photo on here of my tummy one day but my stretchies are still there. I’m hoping to reduce them - I’m creaming up my tummy all the time so hopefully they will disappear one day. I doubt I’ll ever get back to the tummy I had before though…. I tried on my old jeans the other day and they were about 2 inches from doing up!!! Oh dear….

Congrats to Topaz and Simmy!!!! Two more babies, yay!

Hann – hope it’s ok with your in-laws with you. I have to say, my MIL has been amazing! She came over today from 9 am until 5.30 pm to help me – she lets me sleep, watches Ajay, did the ironing, cleaned up the kitchen – all without me asking! I think she thinks that we live like pigs though! I am lucky. Good on Greg for having a word with them for you both – you need to enjoy having your baby, they should be helping not hogging her! Visitors for us have been ok as they seem to understand that they need to help with things other than just holding Ajay.

AFM – today has been ok. Every day gets a little bit better which is good. MIL here all day as I said which has been good so I had about 4 hours sleep last night plus one nap and then I tried to sleep again but couldn’t. Got MIL here again tomorrow as Neel is out from 7 am – 11 pm so they are here all day – bless them. And they are going to make me Indian food for tea – yay!

I just don’t know where the time goes. Every day I want to get some chores done but the time escapes me and before I know it, it is so late. Hoping to get a good nights sleep tonight as Neel is out all day tomorrow, heres hoping!

Hann - Im surprised they ave put you on so much seen as your BF, especially the painkillers. I was told i couyld only have paracetamol and small amounts ibuprofen while i was still BF. Maybe i wasnt in enough pain! lol. The antib's i have last week were metronidazol and the new ones are some sort of combination of penicillin and something, cant remember the name and cant be arsed to get up! lol!
Fingers crossed we both heal soon :)

I know I was surprised by the amount they gave me but they assured me I could take them all and BF. The co dydramol are just like increased paracetomol but the diclofenac are stronger for sure. I really hope they don't affect Annabelle but can only trust that th dr knows what they are doing! Guessing my infections pretty bad then!

hann how have you not told them to fuck off???

mel open a savings account in YOUR name then give it to them for their first car or house deposit or something. then they wont know about it!

congrats simmy and topaz!

sorry this is brief - one handed! went to paultons park today. it says a lot that the smoking area there iss an idyllic grassy tree covered hill. the room for baby feeding is out back of beyond and stinks of shit. breastfeeding mothers are officially less regarded than smokers. wtf??? fuck it, i fed her on a picnic bench.
