Beach Bump Graduates!

Thanks girls. My right side is starting to heal up as it's not as sore but for a while there it was causing me to cry every latch, we're getting there I *know* it gets easier so I just have to keep on keeping on!!!!
I'm gonna speak to the MW this morning about the projectile because I don't want him to start losing weight.

Niamh was projectile vomiting and choking on vomit and Dr has diagnosed her with reflux which is apparently really common in babies. She has been given infant gaviscon and since then she has not even posseted sick which is amazing as she was a sicky girl but had atleast one episode of projectile a day, no more it seems :happydance:

Eve, I hear ya on the sore nipples- Hailey sometimes pulls them and man that hurts!

BF went really well yesterday - we were on a 2-2.5 schedule...then at 4:30pm I started a feed and it lasted till about 8pm - I know we shouldn't have done it but we gave her 2 oz of formula as she was screaming at both boobs and just wouldn't latch...
The plus side - she slept from 9:30pm to 5am!!!! She obviously got a whole lot from me, but just needed that top up!

Hopefully today will be the same as yesterday but without the formula, but we'll see!
Hope you all are having good days :)

Clareabelle, glad niamh is doing better and not vomitting the same :)

Doods, glad you are feeling better and you are stll BFing

Morning!

I hope my one handed typing is going to get better lol!

Good luck squeeker and emz!

Eve I have quick let down too, I think it's gotten better in the last couple of days so hopefully yours will settle too- :hugs: for the sore nips!

Moira- block feeding is basically just feeding from one side only for a period of time ie-2 hours then switching- Naomi won't feed for long enough to get many cals so this works really well for us and has helped settle my over supply.

Glad the feeding's going well gw- I'm jealous of the long sleep!

Good luck with the feeding Tor- I'm sure Jadelin will be fine, how are you feeling?

AFM- Naomi has been referred to the hospital n tuesday as her jaundice is still bad and her sleepiness is affecting her feedings and weight gain- they're a bit worried about the gain- last week it was 3oz, then 2oz the week before- however, I think the block feeding's working as since monday she's gained 2oz so hopefully she'll gain more over the weekend. I just hope her blood test goes ok tuesday and comes back normal.

I hope you're all getting more sleep than me! My little monkey won't seem to sleep for long atm- I have a bit of a night owl who just sleeps during the day! :)

Sorry for the one sided post;

The hospital didn't go so well, saw a dr and registrar and they confirmed that the infection was still there and that I need to go back in a week for possible restitching. Basically the midwife who stitched me did a terrible job, kingston are also at fault as they should have been checking my stitches every 2 days and cleaning them but they haven't done that. I've been given a cleaning solution so I can do it and have to go back a week today to see whether the skin has healed enough to be able to hold new stitches. At the moment it's so weak they would tear again. The dr said it's one of the nastiest cases she has seen - great! If I don't heal by next week I may have to walk around for a long time with the open wound. It's pretty bad so I am not happy and feeling very sorry for myself!*

All sorry nit been on for a while. Been Reading everything but on iPhone so hard to remember everything.

Doods - sorry your LO is unwell. Hope the hospitAl can help. Thinking of you.

Clare - glad the vomitting has stopped. Must be a relief!!!

Gw - glad you had a good sleep!! Sounds great!

AFM - things are ok. Trying to get my confidence up with Ajay, I'm on my own this afternoon and doing ok. Just need to realise I can cope on my own. I know it must sound silly as you all cope so well on your own. It's going ok so far......!

Oh Hab just saw your post. So sorry your stitches are open and that us awful that they haven't looked after you well enough.

I hope you feel better soon xx

Thanks Caz and no it's not silly - I still have Greg with me for another week, I have no idea how I'll cope when he goes back to work! It sounds like you are doing great though

hi guys. finally found you lol.

Tor - glad to see you and Jadelin are doing okay.

hann - I know what you mean about worrying you are not producing enough especially when they want to feed so often but I have to say that Logan had put on over a pound in two weeks so I figure he is doing grand, just having days when he is hungrier than others. Have to say I was pretty amazed at the 4oz too but he hadn't fed off that boob for a few hours and it was after he had been feeding almost hourly so it was very full and sore, hence why I decided to express.

So sorry to read your update re your stitches. That is really bad. Hope your new cleaning solution helps :hugs:

eve - ouch re Atticus throwing hs head back without unlatching. That sounds sooooo painful!!! Could you express a little milk before putting atticus to the breast so that your letdown comes in before he latches on?

Emzee - keep checking the beach bumps thread to see how you and squeeker are getting on. Good luck for Monday.

mel - hope you have a nice time at your grandads. Total respect for making a lasagne for having people round. We managed to bake some frozen sausage rolls and open Mr Kipling cakes for my borther, sister in law and neice yesterday lol.

Claire - glad you managed to get Niamhs reflux sorted.

GW - great for Hailey sleeping that long. You must feel fantastic today.

doodles - thanks for the info re block feeding. Thats what I do with Logan as he is quite sleepy too and loves to nod off after about 20 mins of feeding so I try to wake him and then feed from the same side again. He is still jaundiced but I was told it can take quite a while for breastfed babies to clear. Hope Naomi's blood tests come back okay.

caz - I am sure you will do fine with Ajay this afternoon on your own. I totally remember how you feel. When I had Josh I can recall my mum leaving me after she had been staying for a week after his birth and I just sat on the couch and sobbed and thought there was no way that I was capable of looking after a baby far less a house as well. However within a couple of weeks I had a routine going and was fine. You will be great it just takes a bit of practice.

samzi - the picture of he children is lovely. They look so cute together.

AFM - had a good night last night. Logan was feeding every three hours for an hour allowing me two hours sleep at a time and when it got to 6am I fed him and he was wide awake so DH took him downstairs to play and left me to sleep until 9:45am. It was great.

Just went to stirling castle for a couple of hours to see the new kings and queens apartments which they have just finished restoring. Home for a couple of hours and then going to DH's brothers for a party for his neice who is on holiday from Jakarta and was 16 yesterday. Should be nice to see the whole family.

Hann, how awful that they didn't take better care of you. I hope they figure something out soon. :hugs:

Doodle, hope Naomi gains more! It's always stressful at weigh ins. I give Jillian a bottle with expressed milk in addition to breast feeding and it's been working. Otherwise, she falls asleep on the job and doesn't get enough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she gains enough by next week at the weigh in. I'm seeing more chubbiness so I sure hope so.

Mel, lasagna sounds yummy!

Caz, you can do it! It's tough with no help, but you'll figure out a routine. I really learned what chores really need to get done and what can wait.

Sam, your daughters are gorgeous!

Curlew, glad you got some good rest. Have fun at the party!

Gw, a whole night of sleep sounds awesome. Jill only woke up once and it was wonderful.

I just got 5.5oz from both breasts. I think Jill's slacking...hehe

Hann thats terrible, can you make a claim against them or something as they are clearly at fault for not treating you properly? !

:hugs: Hann that sounds awful! I agree with Mel- there must be someone who can advise re- claims? xx

Big hug Hann - I definately feel some of your pain! TMI Alert - But i am getting some bright green gunk out of mine, pretty sure thats not right.....sigh. Will finish the new antib's and see what happens!

Doods- Hope N jaundice clears up soon. Joshy was a liitle bit when we came home and i was just advised to strip him of and put him in the sunshine/day light as much as possible.

Hugs for everyone with painful nipples! xx

AFM- Joshua had a good night again but he is seriously running out of room in his basket already! He keeps waking himself up hitting his hands on the sides. This means we are considering putting him in his cot....in his own room.....not 100% i am ready for this but have got the movement monitor and a camera rigged up so that makes me feel a little better. Plan to try tonight and see what happens :/

Moira it doesn't work, it doesn't slow!! He splutters the whole way through as it all comes too fast :] Some of the upright positions are doing well for us though! Have fun at the party!
